Here are some links about immigration juliaoceania. Still, I think you will have your best "proof" when you or someone close to you loses their job to an immigrant and has difficulty finding another one due to the job shortage and growing population of immigrants.

I think  I asked how YOUR finding a job was affected by immigration. I know how many illegals there are and how many immigrants there are. I do think we need to find a way to deal with it, but this fear mongering about illegals really galls me. In reading history you learn every wave of immigrants was treated the exact same way.

How was  YOUR job or ability to find a job hampered by illegals or legal immigrants? Is Kansas a hotbed of illegal and legal immigration? Perhaps there is something I do not know about your state?

I know it affecting my state for 2 reasons. I know a guy who works in the IT industry replacing American workers with visa immigrants............he lives and works in Wichita Kansas. Obviously, it's going on in Kansas, otherwise he wouldn't be doing that for a living. Another interesting thing.........when I asked him why he took such a job, he said it was the only stable computer job he could find (replacing american workers). When the last company I worked for closed down after several years, I couldn't find another job.........I had 8 years of experience in my field and a proven track record but nobody would hire me because of the job shortages. I am not imagining things. I used to be able to walk into a business, tell them how much experience I had, and they would ask me when I could start. It never took me more than a week to find a job.........I usually had one within 3 days. Now when I tell a company how much experience I have, they tell me they have other interviews to conduct and I never hear from them. After several months, I gave up and am now attending college full time. For anyone else reading this, before you jump all over me for whining about my inability to find a job.....I'm just using this as an example (I know many others have the same problem). She did ask, and I'm answering her question.

A few years ago in Salt Lake City, Utah an illegal alien, Mexican female, aged 15 at the time, was pushed up on the kidney donation list despite being here illegally.

"Pushed up on the list" or was deemed the best recipient for the donated organ? Do you have a copy of "the list"? Who deemed the people "ahead of her" on the list to be as-good matches as she was? Does it not make sense that a (young, otherwise healthy) person who will benefit from the organ transplant for forty years is going to get an organ before someone who has a bunch of comorbidities and will only live another ten years? Can you accept that this might have been what happened as opposed to "they let her have the kidney first because she's Mexican"?

Reminds me of the time I was explaining to a friend of mine (An Indian immigrant, by the way, who worked as an independent contractor in the IT field, yes, he worked for himself.) how important it was to me to have documentation of my son's Cuban heritage. I told him that I wanted it to be clear that he was part Cuban in case one day there was some sort of benefit he could enjoy because of his heritage. My friend laughed out loud and said "And under what bizarre set of political circumstances do you ever imagine that happening?"

Generally speaking, people with brown skin don't get "escorted to the front of the line" in this culture.

Im an organ donor. As far as I can recall I was not presented with the option of choosing the race/religion/creed/nationality of the person who will hopefully benefit from my organs after I die.

Wasnt it David Crosby who, by dint of his stardom, was catapulted over dozens of other people for a new liver because his life of intemperate debauchery had destroyed the one he was born with?

The point about an illegal immigrant jumping the line seems like a ridiculously obtuse talking point by some ignorant twit who works as a talk radio talking head.

Reminds me of the years of Rush Limbaugh raving about drug addicts and the need for incarceration of all of them and then being found to be one.

Im still laughing about that one.

Julia, don't do it!
I got a warning the other day from Moderator 11 for "resurecting a dead thread" that I thought was relevant to a thread that Crappy Dom had made. (I didn't realise that it's against the TOS to resurect dead threads!)

As for that illegal alien girl getting a kidney in this country the only question I have is why didn't our govt. deport her like it's supposed to be doing?
Boy, Bush wanted $4 B dollars to secure Iraq's borders but he just makes believe there's no problem with our border with Mexico!

It's getting so bad with Bush and his lying that I can't even watch him on t.v. anymore.
I just pick up the channel changer whenever he comes on and "Click."

Are you serious? Now that is funny. I meant no offense when I said the Indians (Native Americans.....don't want to confuse anyone) were being compensated. I agree that the reservations should be alot better and those who get monthly checks should probably get more. Nothing can make up for the slaughter of ones ancestors. I only meant that the government is trying to compensate them in some way and I think all those American IT workers who were replaced should be compensated too. Anyway, I said it before and I'll say it again.......I have no problem with peaceful immigrats as long as there are enough jobs for everyone. Notice I said peaceful. I've talked to 3 men on yahoo messenger who were originally from India. Every one of them called me nasty names just because I didn't respond to their IM fast enough to satisfy them and one of them threatened to send a computer virus. When I mentioned this to my friends, I was told that's the way their culture is......that's the way they are raised to treat women. At least most of the Mexican immigrants are friendly.

Defiant, the Mexican immigrants seem alright but the Mexican illegal aliens are another thing altogether!
We have a trailor park where a lot of them live about 3-4 miles from here and there was another drunken knife fight there about 3 weeks ago and suffice it to say that there are 2 less living there after that.
One's with his great great grandfather and the other one's in jail for murder.
Everytime we see 4 or 5 police cruisers screaming by here everyone knows where they're going.

Dang, that's messed up popeye. I didn't realize Mexicans got so violent. At least I've met a few of them that are nice. I have yet to meet a friendly man from India. If they want to come to this country and take our jobs, at least they could treat American women with respect. But I was told they treat the women in their own country the same way. I'm glad I have good virus protection.

I do have one request regarding "buying American"...please include "buying Canadian" in that as well, if you guys stop buying from us we go tits up.
Except for the brewing industry, I somehow doubt there is much danger of you not buying our beer. Oh look! its past 12....mmmmmm beer.....

I know I love Molson! Great stuff!

I think that instead of invading Iraq we should have invaded Mexico and overthrown the government. Then, with a new one that actually cares and shares with it's people, it can become a good place to live and they won't want to cross the border anymore. I mean, we have Canadian beer, why not Mexican salsa and chips to go with it?

Camille, Mexico doesn't have a "government" per se.
It's run by 23 Billionaire families and the drug cartels.
I think Washington just calls it a "government" because they don't know what else to call it or they don't want to embarrass them.

Now as to your other point, I do have a right to apply for a driver's lisense but only in one state. Not in more than one state. That's not to say that they have to Grant me one.

You have the right to apply for a drivers license in any of the 50 states, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Even in all states at the exact same time (if that were possible).

(Now, whether they gave you one, is another story entirely however).

LTR, I was under the impression that a person could have only one lisense and from the state of residence.
Back before computers people would have 2,3, or 4 lisenses in case they got caught drinking and driving on one of them they could continue to drive on another one and since the states didn't communicate they just didn't know.
I knew people who did that in the 60's & 70's.

This is not true, actually.

When a state licenses you, they will ask whether you are currently licensed in another state, and demand your driver's license from the other state.

Which is not to say that people give up their driver's licenses, but it is illegal in most states to be licensed in other states.

It is not a problem as long as you dont end up getting caught.

*News Update*
Columnist Michelle Malkin now reports that this number will be "13,000 instead of 10,000."
I guess the "U.N." figured that if they could slip this under the radar of the American People that maybe they could push a few more on us.

Now why doesn't that suprise me? I wonder how much worse job shortages have to get before something is done. Alot of people look at the average unemployment rate and think there isn't a significant problem. Part time fast food workers with college degrees aren't considered unemployed because they work 15 hours a week for minimum wage. I think alot of people don't understand how misleading statistics can be.

Defiant, you are correct!
You can make statistics say anything you want!
Forty years ago a "full time job" in this country was a 40 hour week minimum with full benefits.
I remember in the 60's and 70's that "everyone" got benefits and 2-6 week vacations and 11 or 12 paid Holidays and I have to *agree with Sinergy* that that was in very large part due to Unions in this country!
Today it seems that any type of job and any amount of hours are considered "Full-Time" by the government.
They also don't count food and energy costs in with the inflation figures like no-one has to pay them!
I can't tell you how many people I've met with degrees who work in retail low paying jobs, Lowes, Kohl's etc.

Too funny.  I have never been compensated for being Native American.  Nor was my mom or her family.  We are also tribal members of a federal reservation.  I don't live on the reservation as it is way up in the middle of nowhere on Lake Superior.  We try to eek out a living and attend schoool like everyone else.
