Thinking that if Man were to actually invent a teleportation device that the wisest course of action would be to destroy it.

Think of the mischief that man would do if he actually had such a device. You think men are bad now. How easy would it be to cheat on a spouse with such aa device. Or to commit an assassination. Or to steal anything you wanted. Even if only one person were to possess it the power within his hands would be too great to resist, therefore the best thing to do would be destroy it before it got into the hands of the government because they would definitely use it for far worse things than even the one man would.
