I've had a guy who had the smallest nipples.  Looked like dimes.  But, wonderful to zap with the cracker of a single tail or two at the same time.   Um...if his nips were small they weren't dime sized...that's a pretty big "man nip"  you must mean the aerola which is the pink part surrounding the nipple.
 
Some are super sensitive, so it does require easy going and building up of toleration.  I start super sensitive nipples out with gently putting rat traps on (Wood American Rat and Mice trapss), as the bar is round and doesn't dig in like pinchers, tweezer like clamps.  Clothespens are placed after passing through the Rat traps, then mouse traps (new by the way folks), then I pinch gently the nipple and gently squeeze down to move the blood off the site and then clamp.  I reverse when clamps are taken off; letting blood slowly go back to the area denied.
Sudden on and off hurts!  So, I like people to have a good experience.
I might use three in a row clothespens, as a wider pressure site is less painful then a pinch of skin.
