From the UK, I'd just like to say in response to Congress changing hands Yippeee! I look forward to seeing more sense coming out of Washington than we have seen for some years now. There may have been "some things we knew we didnt know, and other things we didnt know that we didnt know, and some things we didnt know we knew", but one thing we knew, that sooner or later the US would resume the good sense for which it was and will be again, our best ally. And all those things we knew we didnt know, and the things we didnt know that we didnt know will hopefully now (and sensibly) be made known, and sensible action taken about them. Congratulations! E

Hopefully do-nothing party #2 will stop funding for Iraq and we'll get to bring our Troops home from Iraq. If they can just do that it would be a major accomplishment.

This is one of those rare occasions, when change is for the better. After all, it is inconceivable that things could now get worse, as they were at rock bottom before! Importantly for us in the UK, the changes over there will now enable us to get out of Iraq earlier too (I hope), and to delve into the mess that led us to this catastrophic strategic error in the first place. The sad truth for us, is that we can do nothing about the problem, unless the US moves too - so this is a great election result for the UK as well as the US. E

Cause I gotta tell you, if you re-read my post, I said regarding statement ONE (and I am not one to care much about where the stress is placed) ----------yadda yadda yadda...... I have no problem with a good guest worker program, in fact, it is one notion that has served Europe really well throughout the years. Hell, I am forever behind that, read my posts, it would entitle people that are not entitled today, help our economy, and not disenfranchise a goddamn soul....... In fact we got stuff like sugarbeets up here, we got transient workers, we got illegals, refugees, political and whatever, we even got running water and electricity........ (as a sidenote, if you are for being a slave in most respects, I got a 200k house I will give you to be queen of the manse, and would even negotiate the buying of grapefruit, bulk, pulp, juice or any form you desire) You misceive me altogether, I am afraid, I was not considering this a vapid discourse, but I am concerned with some of your reasonings, and if you will give me an equal opportunity to use question marks in my postings and commas and semi-colons, then we may even advance to exchanging frank and earnest views. Hmm. Set up a commitee comprised of the bluest of blue-ribbon men and women, Democrat and Republican, to look into such charges. If they find evidence, IRREFUTEABLE evidence... not we're-gonna-TRY-to-prove-it evidence, but ain't-no-getting-around-it evidence... then maybe the hell and damage this country would go through might be worth it. They don't want fighting, and arguing, "they're evil, watch us punish them". One very important thing has changed. The Republicans have lost most of their credibility. But that's not the change. The change is this: if there are no palpable results over the next two years, the Democrats will have lost most of their credibility by 2008 too. I would like to see "none of the above" placed on the ballot. If none of the above got the most votes then the office would stay vacant till someone got more votes than none of the above. thompson
