You of all people I would never expect this from.

From the UK, I'd just like to say in response to Congress changing hands

Yippeee!

I look forward to seeing more sense coming out of Washington than we have seen for some years now. There may have been "some things we knew we didnt know, and other things we didnt know that we didnt know, and some things we didnt know we knew", but one thing we knew, that sooner or later the US would resume the good sense for which it was and will be again, our best ally.

And all those things we knew we didnt know, and the things we didnt know that we didnt know will hopefully now (and sensibly) be made known, and sensible action taken about them.

Congratulations!

Lady Ellen, don't get too excited too quickly.
We just changed one do-nothing party for another do-nothing party.
Hopefully do-nothing party #2 will stop funding for Iraq and we'll get to bring our Troops home from Iraq.
If they can just do that it would be a major accomplishment.

This is one of those rare occasions, when change is for the better. After all, it is inconceivable that things could now get worse, as they were at rock bottom before!

Importantly for us in the UK, the changes over there will now enable us to get out of Iraq earlier too (I hope), and to delve into the mess that led us to this catastrophic strategic error in the first place. The sad truth for us, is that we can do nothing about the problem, unless the US moves too - so this is a great election result for the UK as well as the US.

Oh, darling is this our first fight?

Cause I gotta tell you, if you re-read  my post, I said  regarding statement ONE (and  I  am not one to care much about where the stress is placed) ----------yadda yadda yadda......

I have no problem with a good guest worker program, in fact, it is one notion that has served Europe really well throughout the years.  Hell,  I am  forever behind that, read my posts, it would entitle  people that  are not entitled today, help our economy, and not disenfranchise a goddamn soul.......

In fact we got stuff like sugarbeets up here, we got transient workers, we got illegals, refugees, political and whatever, we even got running water and electricity........

(as a sidenote, if you are for being a slave in most respects, I got a 200k house I will give you to be queen of the manse, and would even negotiate the buying of grapefruit, bulk, pulp, juice or any form you desire)

You misceive me altogether, I am afraid, I was not considering this a vapid discourse, but I am concerned with some of your reasonings, and if you will give me an equal opportunity to use question marks in my postings and commas and semi-colons, then we may even advance to exchanging frank and earnest views.

Did you think I was ripping you off when I asked on this or another thread what that would look like?----

I mean, you are a prolific political poster, and whether or not my homespun, laugh in your face style or wry commentary are suitable interaction, I am a scarecrow--- Oh, Joy, rapture---I have a brain....

If you are willing to be caitlyn maitlin, I am willing to scene as the ragin' cajun......

But don't think that I am following you around trying to beat your ass up, you would have to beg me for that, I got principles.

I meant what I said in prior conversations, and if it makes you feel differently, I will be the crispy one and you can be the crisp one in this exchange, because I subscribe to a thing that it is what it is, and some of this shit is just purely in the void, and if it can't be fun as well as fulfilling, fuck it.

Hmm. Set up a commitee comprised of the bluest of blue-ribbon men and women, Democrat and Republican, to look into such charges. If they find evidence, IRREFUTEABLE evidence... not we're-gonna-TRY-to-prove-it evidence, but ain't-no-getting-around-it evidence... then maybe the hell and damage this country would go through might be worth it.

I do think at the least we'll see Henry Waxman digging into Halliburton and company.

Lam, even if that's true, I believe the majority of people don't want to see anything that even remotely smells partisan. They don't want fighting, and arguing, "they're evil, watch us punish them". The public is tired of the divisiveness, and tired from Iraq and the hurricane season of 2005, they want our government to work together for posistive goals, not "I'm gonna getcha".

Why?  Seems to me there is a lot more in the way of grounds for impeachment this time around than when they went after Clinton.

The Democrats are fools if they even start talking about impeachment, fucking idiots if they proceed with it.

Where as lying cheating stealing treason, and fearmongering are not impeachable.  Apparently a cum stained dress is.

shtrbg, It wasn't about the dress it was about lying under oath, a felony.
Get over it. Low-life Bill is no longer President and we "only" have to put up with this guy for 2 more years!

One very important thing has changed.

The Republicans have lost most of their credibility.  But that's not the change.  The change is this: if there are no palpable results over the next two years, the Democrats will have lost most of their credibility by 2008 too.  We just might see, for the first time in any of our lifetimes, a third-party president in 2008.

Lordandmaster:
The change I would like to see is on the ballot.  I would like to see "none of the above" placed on the ballot.  If none of the above got the most votes then the office would stay vacant till someone got more votes than none of the above.

I think a President Pelosi would be fun and shake things up a bit in a much needed way.
I agree.  Everyone knows it does take a woman to clean a house properly. Actually, she'll probably designate it to a proper male slave. (but this one looks like the morning aftermath of the toga party of Animal House)

The whole situation will be interesting to watch unfold.  I do like Pelosi.  I knew nothing of her prior.  But I think if she does her job.. she has a good shot at the presidency herself. I like her demeanor and her self-control of not dry heaving in the presence of the shrub.

You impeach over blow jobs in the Oval office..  yep.  Over things not one person died from.

It's extemely unlikely Nancy Pelosi would ever be President.

That was even more stupid and time wasting than the thought of impeachment now.
