Chaingang -> A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 10:18:10 PM)

...should go for impeachment and war crimes against both Shrub and Chinless.

I think a President Pelosi would be fun and shake things up a bit in a much needed way.

juliaoceania -> RE: A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 10:25:46 PM)

I have been talking with Sinergy about this all evening...smiles

popeye1250 -> RE: A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 10:38:26 PM)

A Democratic Congress should;
1. Get us out of Iraq.
And don't take 2 years to do it.
2. Secure our border with Mexico and start enforcing our immigration laws. No country has ever survived without being able to control it's borders.
3. Stop all the outsourcing that is bleeding good paying jobs from here to overseas and get us out of NAFTA.
The big corporations are making a killing and the middle class is getting killed!
It's been 12 years now and NAFTA is a bigger misstake than ever!

NeedToUseYou -> RE: A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 10:40:47 PM)

I'm so happy, we can all start bitching about how the dems are screwing up. It get's old just hearing bush bashing all the time. A little variety will be nice.

LOL, Need, I'm an Independant so  I can give BOTH of them hell.
As far as I'm concerned Bush brought this on himself.

The Democrats are fools if they even start talking about impeachment, fucking idiots if they proceed with it.

I'd much rather see Murtha as the speaker. And yes....I think there should be hearings /investigations into everything.

I think letting Rom ''Bozo'' Emmanuel and the other war monger democrats gain any type of control would be a huge miscalculation that will end up leading to the destruction of the party.

But more than anything....I'd like to see the whole Straussian / Neoconservative philosophy of chaos and endless / preemptive war, deconstructed and thoroughly demonized before the American people. The American people as a whole need to be thoroughly educated about the pure evil in this philosophy so they understand how to identify it and kill it before it gains power again

Someone should start a thread on Leo Strauss, it would be highly informative for many people who do not realize where the neocons get their "beliefs" from

Royalton -> RE: A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 11:25:14 PM)

Popeye, they won't do any of the three.  Expect amnesty, impeachment attempt and inquires all over the place, and a lot of demagogery for 2008

Lordandmaster -> RE: A Democratic Congress (11/7/2006 11:26:43 PM)

Why?  Seems to me there is a lot more in the way of grounds for impeachment this time around than when they went after Clinton.

I doubt that impeachment, however richly deserved, is terribly likely.

Royalton, if they attempt any type of amnesty (they'll) be voted out of office!
That is a Major issue that the people are against and Bush has done NOTHING to enforce our immigration laws!
That's (one) of the reasons why this election has backfired against him. He hasn't done a G.D. thing in this area!
You're reading that wrong. Almost all of the Democrats and Republicans I know are against this out of control "immigration."
And (all) of the Polls show this as well.

And they had better get us out of Iraq! They have a small window to do it.

One thing I did agree with Hillary Clinton on was a National Healthcare System for Americans.
It's way past time and we are one of the few Western Countries without one!
The $400B that Bush has pissed away in Iraq would have paid for one many times over!
What do we have, 45-50 million Americans now with no healthcare Insurance? Anyone know?
That's rediculous! And there's no excuse for us to not have one anymore!
Frickin ROMANIA has a National Healthcare program but the U.S. doesn't?
Here's your chance Democrats!
"Git 'er done!"

Lam, even if that's true, I believe the majority of people don't want to see anything that even remotely smells partisan. They don't want fighting, and arguing, "they're evil, watch us punish them". The public is tired of the divisiveness, and tired from Iraq and the hurricane season of 2005, they want our government to work together for posistive goals, not "I'm gonna getcha".

Democrat, Republican, and the difference is?

Remember that most of  your politicians only joined a party to get your vote. If you know that your local county always votes for one party, then that's the one you join to start off your career. It has little to do with beliefs as much as it does with popularity.

I'm tired of seeing these two parties being treated a religious factions where people are willing to fight and kill for them. Call yourself a democrat or a republican, but do you really know what it means?

I hear people talk about voteing. "Well, I never heard the person give a speech or read about what they think. But I seen there party logo by there name and that's why I voted for them."  What a idiot. If you don't know the person, why would you vote for them based off a party affiliation when it does not mean a damn thing?

Not quite. Democrats took a major win, but they don't have the two thirds majority needed to override presidential veto. Unless they do impeach the bastard and his whole crooked administration, the congress will remain deadlocked with the President for the next two years - But Bush wont be able to make it worse.

Could not disagree more - our government is not known for doing anything right, all they do is throw money at a problem and tell us how much they care.

Welfare started off as a great idea - I believe in helping those Americans (notice I said AMERICANS) that are unable to work or are down on their luck temporarily.  But welfare mushroomed out of control and if you are a lazy schmuck, you can sit your ass on the couch and watch Jerry Springer all day, not attempt to find work, and have the taxpayers pay for you to live that way.

National Healthcare would have people abusing it for cosmetic surgery, sex change operations, etc. and every kind of scam that could be conceived.  National Healthcare should be for a person's health, not vanity.  If you want cosmetic surgery, sex changes, etc. then buy supplemental on your own.  (I'm going to get flamed, but too bad, it's part my money that people want to waste)

Look how bad government has screwed up the military in the last 40 years and that is something the government is required to manage.

No to National Healthcare until we get a six Party system that can make sure we have an option to vote for competent people to manage it, not just a Red or Blue Stater.

I don't find immigration to be quite the hot issue that you find it to be Popeye1250, but I generally agree with the rest. The problem will be constantly dividing the parties so that things can't get done no matter who is in power or where.

A Republican white and congress has been catastrophic for the U.S. Sadly the most likely outcome will be two-fold: a) checking the power of the party in the white house with the power of the opposition in congress and vice versa, and b) blaming those coming in for the necessary clean-up and higher taxes that are sure to result from the six years of Republican looting. Unprecedented levels of looting, I would add.

I can't recall your stated leanings offhand but these words could only have been spoken by a Republican sympathizer. People who rob the people, break the laws of this country, purposefully decimate civil liberties, and lead us to a pointless war should abso-fucking-lutely be brought to justice. That's not a partisan issue - that's the rule of law. Ever heard of that? No one is above the law, ideally at least. Make the fuckers pay for the crimes that can fairly be put at their feet.

The divisiveness of this administration has been unprecedented. I say let them burn. I do not oppose the death penalty for what these thugs have done. When soldiers die so that Halliburton stockholders can get fat and wealthy I say let them burn.

When the right people are brought to justice we can let the rest of the finger pointing drop, but not until then. Not one moment before that time will do either.

Blood is paid in blood.
