I actually confused nothing, whether I chose to address it or not. I care very little as to whether the comment was made regarding online or off. It is still wrong in my belief to invalidate any group at a rate of 99%. That was the comment that I took issue with.

Er, back to the main question here, which was one of safe-calls and so on:

Something that I've found works well for me is to have a home-safe call, after everything (in addition to a mid-meeting call). I find a friend with caller ID, tell them that I'm going on an 'internet date', and that I want them to check the phone number on their caller ID to make sure that I am home safe and that I will be home by X time (yes, even if I plan to play) and that if I'm not calling from home at that time, that they should do x, y, and z. I also set up a 'safeword' in case of car trouble, etc, because lord knows I don't want some innocent dom getting arrested because I got a flat tire. This is trickier if you're a person without a landline, of course, but can still work if you get creative.

It's just good sense. I do it on vanilla dates in exactly the same way, as well.
