I do not see where I have said anything putting down your desire to give advice.

I am not grasping for put downs..however, if you see me giving YOU helpful advice and mentoring as a put down..you may want to put yourself in that catagory as well.. I am trying to TEACH you something you are having a difficult time grasping yourself.

And just as you consider mentoring a good waste of your time.. so do I...but thanks for being concerned about my daily routine..that really is sweet of you.

Can we toss the TOS?

For those who have not been following this I will repeat what I said earlier: I did not violate TOS and I did not get banned. Also I did not need a condescending leeson about TOS. However, someone here seems to be stuck on TOS and is unwilling to reply to my points.

This conversation started when someone seemed to be saying no one should give out advice. Everyone should take their chances and if they get into trouble it is their own fault. To me that sounded like blaming the violated. So I responded. In return I got a wave of negative commentary. Some seemed to have created all kinds of paranoid delusions about what my group is about. I tried, without total sucess, to give reasonable reponses rather than give back what I was getting. This seemed to satisfy most.

However, one who was determined to have the last word continued with the bogus issue of TOS rather than responding reasonably to the substance of what I was saying. This is a common tactic in debate. When reason is not on their side, they twist what the other is saying, try to change the topic, comment on his spelling, or call him names.

What I am saying is it is good to have on line advice for newbies and other such support systems. If you disagree with that, fine.

I may be new here but I am not a newbie. I am not at all intimadated by short put downs. Especially if they have little tie to reality. I will chalange irrational responses because some are being misled by them.

What these people want to do is noble I suppose, but whilst they're doing it using Alt, it is demonstrably against their TOS and they could be banned.

There's not much room for ambivalence there.

The mystery, to me, is that they have some perfectly servicable webspace with all the tools they need to set up shop on their own without all those stringent regulations, but don't use it, despite their leader now being kicked off Alt twice.

And once again <since you seemed to miss it the first time I said it>... I was not responding to you being banned.. I was responding to you bitching about their TOS. Your bitch..your statement..I did not pull it out of my behind.. :) (although I admit that might be a nice feat!)

How is my response misleading anyone?? My explanation of what TOS is and what it is used for is certainly a hell of a lot more factual than your scare tactics of what is wrong with other sites.

I have addressed one specific thing..and only one..and the fact that you insist that I am irrational in my responses says much more about you than it does me.

For what its worth.. you start a pissing match with someone (and you did in fact start it..) be prepared to get wet..According to your profile, you should be old enough to know that is how pissing matches go.

Since my bladder is now empty.. I will drop this.. If you dont see the truth in my statements so be it.. it doesnt make them any less truthful..

Fitz,

Thanks for providing the above on ALT's TOS. There are a lot of things there that are widely and frequently violated at the site. They do not seem to much care. But what I missed was a listing of what Savanna got banned for.

However, the terms of their TOS has very little to do with the topic I raised.

DsGuardian: The problem here is one of perception.

What you see as a personal attack and name calling, I'm seeing as a reasoned, logical position in a rather circular debate.

Can we toss the TOS? Well, no, not really. It's the crux of the matter, after all.

ALT's TOS doesn't specifically protect abusers. ALT's TOS protects it's USERS. ALT doesn't care what a user does in real life, ALT doesn't care what a user does on it's site. Unless someone actively reports an infringement, the TOS specifically states that they don't give a shit. You can't really complain when they demonstrate their commitment to their own TOS, can you? And you know what? If you don't like a place, leave.

Should rapists be allowed to operate in the lifestyle? No. But if somebody accuses someone of being a rapist, whether online or in real life, they'd better have incontrovertable proof, or else risk facing prosecution for libel or defamation of character.

Not one person in this 18 page, 350 message long thread has once denigrated the desire to give advice. Not one person in this thread has attacked the MOTIVES of TIC. However, there are reasonable questions which must be asked by reasonable people:

Why should we trust you? What qualifies you to offer mentorship and/or advice?

Should we not get suspicious of people who proclaim themselves trustworthy, but then become evasive and defensive when asked to provide credentials? Is this not exactly how the predators work?

Allow me to paraphrase this entire thread in three lines:

"Trust me, I'm an expert"
"Prove it"
"No, just trust me"
