Status: offline 		Reading through journals, on-line and such, I have seen a few books here and there that some people have as "suggested reading." Here shortly I plan on making a trip to the book store and picking up a few of them, so here's the question.... which do you suggest, and why?

**And please, let us not start a huge arguement over why this is, or isn't the "best book in the world." I'm looking for opinions, and the reasons for it**

Status: offline 		"Screw the Roses, give me the Thorns" is very informative and an easy read. I haven't read "SM101" yet but heard it was a must read as well. They sell all of these on Amazon, believe it or not. In my opinion "The Loving Dominant" was harder to read so I didn't finish it. JMO.

Especially good reading for the new comer but just as thought provoking and informative for the experienced. I often find myself picking it up a couple of years later and still being reinformed about things I've taken forgranted along this journey.

SM101 is great for the brand new person.

The Ethical Slut is great for anyone who is interested in or just wants to learn more about functioning in polyamorous relationship

The Kushiel series is great fiction for a bdsm/spiritual/political/sexual read

I found the Loving Dominant terribly dull and not that good on bringing out new info or useful perspectives except for a vanilla outsider perhaps wanting to know more.

For a slew of great instructional and informational books, go see the Greenery Press website. One of my favorites is a new one called Radical Ecstacy. EXCELLENT read. The new Topping Book and the new Bottoming Book are quite good also.

A book called Different Loving is well-written and provides case studies which I found interesting.

For leisure, there is quite a range. While I prefer stuff that is well-written and intelligent, I have been known to slog through bumpy to horrible writing when there are pockets of juicy stuff to be found. For male top/female bottom, here are a few of my favorites (some I remember the author and others... not).

#1 Favorite: Owned and Owner by Anneke Jacob
Carrie's Story
The Leather Daddy and the Femme by Carole Queen (kinda gender bendy queer stuff but very HOT!)
Mr. Benson (intense, hot gay male leathersex)

Status: offline 		Oh my gawd, almost forgot the Beauty series by A. N. Roquelaure! The first two are fabulous -- hot and hotter. IMHO, the third one is warm, not nearly as good as the first two...

1) The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty
2) Beauty's Punishment
3) Beauty's Release

AND, if you have a PDA and want some good leisure reading to go, I recommend visiting Chimera Publishing, Ltd. to purchase and download some dandy mind candy.

Now see, I love The Loving Dominant, but I would only recommend it to a Top. For a bottom, I can imagine it would be hard to get through.

It was, however, my first real BDSM book, so I was brand new to the entire lifestyle when I read it, but there are parts of that book that still resonate with me.

Status: offline 		I also recommend Screw The Roses because while it is informative, it's also humorous in some sections. I've heard a great deal from a Friend on a book called The Market Place, although I've not read nor see it. He says it is a good read.

I've read all of the above.
The topping/bottoming book.

I read the first one and a half of The claiming of sleeping beauty. Got bored and gave the set away.
I've stayed away from Brame books.

Basically pick up anything that look's interesting to you. You will learn something, whether you incorporate it into your daily life is up to you.

There is a wealth of info on the internet as well. Just remember whatever you read. Take what you want and throw out what you don't. There is no one set bible and everyone is different.

I loved Laura Antoniou's Marketplace books (it was originally a triology, but now there are more). As far as fiction goes, by far my favorite read. But they play right into my own personal kinks...

I buy a lot of book's off of half.com You can choose whether you want it in perfect condition or a bit worn. Generally it is half off the publishers price. I've even named the price I've been willing to pay before and gotten it.
