There are quite a few different ways of doing it and MidnightWriter has a decent suggestion but the problem with that is if you knock it, you've lost your shape. If I wanted something very accurate, I'd get plaster bandages (you can usually find 'em in your local medical supply store and online) and have someone rub you down with vaseline, apply the bandages and stay still while they dry. You want to use a good amount of bandages to create a durable shell. If you do it laying down, all your body parts will be laying down too. If you do it standing up, make sure to keep your normal posture...don't suck anything in! After they do the front, do the back too so you have 2 halves. You can cut and fit them together (If you sew you know about making registration marks) You can then use this shell to make a laytex foam figure which you can then mount on a stand if you wish. A couple of pointers on the laytex foam, it WILL expand so make sure to give the foam a way to grow out of the shell mold or it will break the shell. Its kind of expensive just as an FYI. The link below offers laytex, foam, casting materials and if you have questions call them. The customer service people are used to strange questions. The way a lot of dress shops custom fit clothes is to take TONS of measurment and add batting to an existing dress form to mimick your body style/shape/size. Its worked well for literally hundreds of years. Of course doing a mock up out of something like muslin is the best bet because its cheap and you can get a perfect fit and then pattern tons of pieces from it. Hope that helps! http://www.burmanfoam.com/
