In reading GreyStorm's thread titled MMMM I noticed that people are eating....well....alot of junk and not much along the lines of home cooking. Is this common? Doesn't anyone make a real dinner at home every night anymore? I mean stuff that doesn't come out of a box, a can or the freezer?

Even when working outside the home I have always put home cooking on the table every night. With the invention of the bread machine and crock pots it is even possible to make a nice roast and homemade bread while still putting in 8-10 hours on a job. Is it a lost art?

Especially in a D/s relationship....I just can not imagine throwing some fish sticks and a box of macaroni and cheese on the table and trying to tell Sir that it's dinner. I can imagine that I would find out what it's like to have fish sticks stuffed in various orifices of my body!

So what's up?....is anyone out there cooking real dinners anymore?

I do, when I'm not at school. When I'm here, I eat all of my meals out of a warming pan

When I'm at home though......aaaaaa, I love to cook. I spent two years in vocational school for cooking and love to make large meals from scratch and make sure that no one leaves the table hungry.
The only problem I run into is the amount of food that I make. I come from a family of 8, and 8 people eat vast quantities of food. Trying to switch from that to cooking for two is a quantum (sp?) leap.

I have been cooking a lot more this last year since eating the South Beach way. We now eat very few processed foods.

I cook every day, I am doing Indian cooking right now... addicted to curries ... the warmer the better. I can't imagine ever not cooking my own meals ( except for occasional restaraunt outings)
I rarely even poison anyone anymore!

I have always been the kind of cook that makes HUGE quantities of everything. A few years ago I got one of those vacuum sealers. I don't know if another appliance has ever given me my money's worth like this one. Now I package everything up in those sealer bags in meal sized portions. When I have other things to do and can't be here to cook a big dinner.....remove bag from freezer.....drop in boiling water....and Wallah!!!!!!!!

I have great admiration for people who love to cook and are good at it! It's definitely not one of my strengtht; I'm cooking-impaired. Since I changed what I eat (rarely any white flour or refined sugar), I have figured out a few simple dishes that I can cook without a lot of effort.

But I love ethnic foods, especially Mexican, Indian and Thai.

Mmmm...curry!

Ok....let's take this one step further. I can not even imagine seeing my Dominant doing something domestic like scrubbing a floor or cleaning a toilet. Even the thought of such makes my stomach do flips.

Dominants, do you require your submissives/slaves to be skilled in the fine arts of Domestic Service....cooking, cleaning, laundry, being a proper hostess?

Submissives/slaves...are these things required of you by your Dominants? Do you feel as a submissive that these are important skills to "bring to the table"?

Seeing that I Have never had a Dominant, I don't know how intelligent my answer will be.

If I ever do find a dominant, I feel it is important to be able to serve them in any way they require/want. If that includes domestic work, then so be it. I love to cook for others as much as I love to care for others so it would be a joyful thing for me to do for my Master.

I'm not required to cook, but I love it.

I try to have dinner in the fridge/oven for him when he gets home from school, even when I'm at work. I can't always, but almost always.

I love to cook, though and am constantly trying new recipies.

Midear Erin-

I usually remark that if I have a woman who's wiling to obey me in anything, that domestic chores are waaaay down on the list. As a 'Kitchen Dom' (thanks, DB<g>), I really don't like anyone one cooking for me- though it is a nice change from time to time- and no one is entrusted with washing my faberware!

Having a partner who's willing to do the luandry is a nice bonus for me- at least in season, when I am too busy to do it myself. Cleaning?- I am a bachelor, and keep a pretty good house, and if the SIQ is not a slob, and willing to do the bathroom while I vaccum- or visca-versa, that's nice too.

A hostess? critical! If I am in the kitchen making dinner, a partner who can entertain my guests, see to their needs while I am slamming pans is such a boon.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

interesting thread! i am definately expected not just to cook but to do all of the house chores, laundry, ironing, cleaning, etc.... that is no different than my vanilla marriage tho, except for some reason i now get such pleasure from doing these things for Master where as before, with my vanilla ex i would want him to help me out more and do more things around the house etc....with Master i just want to pamper Him all the time and excell at my domestic duties....funny how D/s dynamics just mind fucks us! lol....i do enjoy cooking however, i am good at it too....i don't feel the same about washing dishes tho! and ironing...yuk! lol

LOL.....well I am very thankful for my dishwasher, even if certain items must be hand washed it is a great help. I try to keep things picked up as I prepare the food and frequently hand wash the items I use for preperation as I go. That way there isn't such a huge mess to deal with on a full stomach. As for ironing, I am FANATICAL about getting the clothes out of the dryer the moment it stops....I do hate ironing.

erin,
This was VERY important to me. Yes beth has responsibilities for all those activities. she relishes them and resents when I even help clear a dish after dinner. The day starts with her bringing coffee to the bedroom and continues throughout the day. The proper hostess takes on a variety of applications. When we entertain lifestyle friends at our home, that entails formal BDSM protocol, as well to adherence to the standard at home dress code.

Then there are the business dinners both at home and at a variety of functions. Some requiring black tie and gowns. On those formal occasions it's a big turn on for both of us to know she's naked beneath the gown; or if I'm feeling particularly playful she's wearing a butt plug or remote control toy under her outfit. We have a formal charitable event to attend next month. I used to hate the thought of having to attend. It's just another example how this lifestyle turns the mundane into FUN!

I have done every household chore, ALL the cooking, and almost all the yard work on 6 acres(unless i need his muscles for something) since we were married 36 years ago, way before i knew i was submissive. He did put up a rail fence once though, with my help. He bought himself a macho weedeater with lots of attachments last summer, so He does use that when trees need trimming and for brush removal, but i do all the cleanup. I expect it won't be long before He shows me how to use it though. My birthday gifts over the years have included lawnmowers and chain saws. Since we started this "official" D/s relationship i enjoy the work more and never resent it anymore because i understand why i do it. Some of it is getting harder as i get older so i plan on hiring a neighbor kid for some help this summer.

In general i think it is entirely up to each couple as to how the work is divided.

Ever since I started Atkins, the joy of cooking has been sucked from my soul.

I do not have a dom to cook for at this time, but when i did i loved to cook.

I still do but now i invite friends over and we have a meal together.

My friends leave their tupperware etc at my house for days when i cook so they have a container to take the leftovers home in, I am lucky if I GET ANY!

Ah I love to cook. I will never give it up. I'll make my submissive do all the other chores, but the kitchen is my domain.

That was kinda my point about the other thread, I wanted to see who was making good food and who was ordering pizza. Guess I'm not as verbose.
