If I could go to Europe, the locations would not matter to me as much as a traveling companion. I'd love to go with someone who knows where to go and can teach me about the areas.

Other than Europe, I think Archer's secluded mountain top and Cjan's sailboat sound amazing, peaceful.

And I'd go to any beach anywhere with katy. Tropical drinks and cabana boys!

Tee?? wanna come visit FL beaches with me?? *evil grin*

well, used to be Scotland/England/Ireland/Wales...but since I'm planning to move to the UK and will have much easier access to those places and the rest of Europe I'm going to go with Cj's idea.. I spent a week sailing with friends in MExico a couple of years ago..PURE heaven!  One night, at anchor in a secluded cove, you could look up and see nothing but stars - and the water was filled with those phosphorescent critters.. stars above and below.. *sigh* pure heaven :)

Oh, yes. It's impossible to describe how beautiful this sight/sound/smell/feeling/experience  is. It's, literally , "otherworldly", except, it's not ! *Snort*, Sorry, GT.

It's our world and it's out there, all the time. It's all around us, day and night. ( Hope I'm not getting too sappy here, but, it literally overwhelms me sometimes).

But, yanno, the heavy weather and storms are equally (kinda) beautiful, and part of the experience. That's why ya need a well built boat and some skills and prudence.

GreedyTop -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/2/2008 9:54:57 AM)

the boat I was on was a '50 steel hull, junk rig.... (damn the short doghouse! *head hurts in remembrance*).  The ocean is a world of it's own. EVERYONE should spend some time on a sailboat..it gives you a view of the ocean.and life. that cant be gained anywhere else.

So what is your dream vacation.
One of mine would be a summer in Italy.
Venice, Florence, Rome.  Sicily to tract down long lost relatives.
Museums, cathedrals.  The art and architecture would be overwhelming for me.
I was there for three weeks when I was six.  My dad dragged us to every museum and church that he could in that time frame.
I had no clue how truly wonderful everything that I was seeing was.
And all of that is without even considering the food and the people.

My dream vacation would be  a month in Hawaii. With a wonderful DaddyDom eploring the islands and each other [;)].

I have a friend who is a globetrotter for his job. Cambodia is the only place he made a special effort to revisit instead of exploring someplace new.

christine1 -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/8/2008 11:21:07 PM)

right now, i'd love a suite for a week at the Bellagio in vegas.  room service, spa services, shopping, the fun nightlife.  maybe next week i'll want a tropical vacation but right now i want vegas.

GreedyTop -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/8/2008 11:26:21 PM)

Spamalot is playing in Vegas right now :) Christine.. if you make it out there, I have a most beloved friend who lives there..let me know...

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/8/2008 11:28:44 PM)

I know people in Vegas.... some of them might be able to get you a deal on a room......

Honestly, if I could find someone to go with, Camping on one of my 5 days would be perfect

GreedyTop -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/8/2008 11:30:18 PM)

I love camping!!

(as long as I can access to real toilets and showers)

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/8/2008 11:35:49 PM)

real toilet = hole?

when I go camping I get as far away from ppl as possible... and there is usually a fair amount of hiking, and collecting plant samples for myself and friends...

christine1 -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/9/2008 5:10:54 AM)

deals on rooms would be fabulous, they are usually decent during the weeks though but i'm the Bellagio is high pretty much all the time, i want a room facing the fountains and the strip lol.

camille65 -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/9/2008 5:34:29 AM)

I want to go back to China, I've been there twice and just fell in love. I'd like to be able to wander, see northern China. Without a state guide thank you. They are always very nice and polite but also so very censored. For an unfeasible trip it would be a few months wandering around South America but.. that likely will never happen due to the temperment and danger. A motorbike/backpacking journey either alone or with just one friend. Through SA then through Central America. Another thing I'd like is to go around and see all the 'tin curtain' countries, it is so freaky.. nearly every night I dream about them. I have odd dreams about Eastern Europe where I'm desperately trying to smuggle people and children across borders. No clue why I dream that so much and with such intense clarity but maybe if I go those dreams will finally halt. Christine if you take time and use Travelocity etc you can get amazing deals in Vegas. I use a site called visitlasvegas.com and wound up at the MGM for less than 100 per night during Christmas week!

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Dream Vacations (5/9/2008 5:48:38 AM)

You'd like Carl.. his sense of humor is like mine. I've known him about 30 years.. he even wrote a song about me :)

we used to do the hiking thing (every summer.. spent a couple of weeks hiking in the Sierras one year.)  At the time I was a sulky teen./.. didn't appreciate it as much as I do now in retrospect
