I know personally a man that fakes being a girl right here on this site.    He has about 5 different profiles. sad.

Hissltviolet -> RE: honesty online (1/18/2007 6:40:36 PM)

...this slave girl prefered this approach as well...partly because she is a hopeless romantic and partly because she refused to allow herself to become cynical...it didn't take her too long to figure out how to read between the lines...of course...always assuming that the 'One' she was being so open and honest with was being the same with her did bring with it some bumps and bruises...but also lessons of value...so she is happy to say that every 'encounter' was a positive one regardless of the outcome...

...AND...

...her efforts were not in vain...she is now and ever will be the happiest slave girl in the whole world...she endeavored and when she was not looking 'HE" found her...

...giggles...

...the moral to this story?...NEVER GIVE UP!!!....................

The people online are the same people that are offline.
It boils down to getting to know people, and not believing
everything a total stranger tells you.
We all know that many people use the internet to cheat and lie,
it is easier because of the anonimty involved.
I find life easier when I err on the side of caution.[:D]

i tried posting everything up front on my profile, but was basically criticized and ridiculed as being a liar and a player...go figure

subnas -> RE: honesty online (1/18/2007 11:19:14 PM)

well i for one also try to be as honest as i can. i also believe you never know if you might meet some of the people you chat with offline, so it is better to be upfront at the start. i started this off because i believe that someone lied to me about who they where and when i questioned them about it they wouldnt prove me wrong.

what do people think about being honest and telling the truth about yourself online? how easy is it to download a picture of someone else and then say it is you. how do you really know that they are the person in the picture? for all we know they could be a guy, which has been known to happen. Would love to hear other peoples view on this.

Honestly, I've noticed people are becoming far more honest online than in the past. There are of course many stricken with a chronic penchant for deception and head games online, but a few well-placed chess moves during initial contact and negotiation parts the curtain easily enough.

steviemichael -> RE: honesty online (1/19/2007 1:53:05 AM)

honesty online?  since when users  in chat rooms and communcation systems like yahoo icq paltalk etc etc. have to be honest?
users sit in front a pc and apply their own cyber moral standards
and read the screen and hear those voices with cyber standard rules and apply cyber methods *is this the real voice i am hearing  and is this a real person i am watching on the cam
ask yourself those questrions and you are on the starting point of insanity.

demistress -> RE: honesty online (1/19/2007 2:16:09 AM)

Some people lie no matter where they are, some people lie sometimes depending on where they are, and some people do their best to be honest at all costs.  This is true no matter where you meet the person, online or not.

steviemichael -> RE: honesty online (1/19/2007 2:49:09 AM)

ah !
how would one decide what is a lie in cyberspace ?
since in cyberspace there are no absoloutes.

Even in cyberspace, there still is a such a thing called "common sense" and another called "gut instint".  If you really believe that everyone here lies, I'm positive, that's exactly what you'll encounter, should you ever meet! I agree. And even in cyberspace, I think there is still such a thing called honesty. My approach is to be optimistic with enough pessimism to allow common sense and gut instinct to do their work.

I have not problem being honest and prefer others to be too as dishonesty is a turnoff for me. I mean, if they have no compunctions about lying, how could I trust them at all?

youngsubmission -> RE: honesty online (1/23/2007 10:40:41 PM)

i've never lied online because it's just pointless. If you don't like me, i'm not going to put up pictures of other people who are easy on the eye.
However i've been sucked in several times online. Some really sad ugly Women steal pictures from amatuer porn stars and post it as their own. One person even thought they were good enough to be Betty Page [:D][:D] which was just LOL!
All i can say is, get confirmation that they are really who they say they are. A web-cam is the best option and if they give that bullcrap excuse of being "camera shy" or "i have a cam, but my brother broke it last week", don't bother. Indeed cams are easy to fake...which makes them very easy to tell they're fake lol
Don't get into anything serious online unless you have enough proof.

DivaDuchess -> RE: honesty online (1/24/2007 5:39:10 PM)

For us ... we take what we see online with a grain of salt.  After a couple of chats, we 'suggest' a webcam (keep the boobies covered, I'm not interested at that point), so that we know who we say in the picture posted is the same person.  We also ask for age verification (one can never be too careful).  After several chats, we use a phone.  There was one we met online here ... she sounded like my grandmother on the phone *lol*.

Best advise, take one step at a time and be careful.

There's as much chance of someone lying to you hear as if you meet them in a bar and they claim to be single, drive a sportscar and have a dream job. Might be true but probably isn't. Only way to know is to hang around with them for a while and look for verification, ask questions about something they said a couple of days before and see if there are discrepencies.

People lie in all kinds of areas and for all kinds of reasons.

untamedshysub -> RE: honesty online (1/24/2007 6:18:00 PM)

People lie they do it for a variety of reasons ,  we know when we are being lied to but prefer to belive the lie until we cannot anymore and then we blow up and want to call the person names and etc. not productive yes it hurts to be lied too but we must accept our responsiblity for allowing the person to lie to us.   I personally think lying takes too much engery you have to remember what you said to who where the truth just rolls. But there is also a silver lining ( I decided to put my rose color glasses back on)  just because one or three people lie to you does not mean all do . just be more selective and pay attention to the clues.
