Hi Feline,
I have the same problem with new gel/jelly toys,so in My case I'm sure its not because they have broken down over time.I tried scrubbing and or boiling them to see if maybe a coating or something was the cause to no avail.
I know its not the lube as I use a hospital brand (love the submissives with medial type jobs) if I use a latex free condom over the toy I'm okay.
I have a condition that leaves My skin very sensitive to soaps,clothing,shampoo etc. I have to stay away from anything rubber or latex,that includes gloves.
I have to use gloves to handle toys that are made out of rubber or latex.
I dont have an allergy perse but a severe sensitivity that could turn to an allergic reaction.So for safety sake I handle them with care.
