ORIGINAL: MrFranksToy I started with the piercer's reccomended care - provon antibacterial soap am followed by emu oil and a sea salt soak evening followed by emu. The Provon is too strong so I went to soft soap antibacterial and had been using epsom salt soaks. Thought maybe the emu was the culprit and the doctor recommended triple antibiotic so I tried that. Now I'm down to it's been 2 months maybe I'm doing too much so just using the very mild eucerin cleanser and lotion I use on my face - fragrance free etc. I have six outer labial, and I did four at once, then the others. Mine healed like nobody's business, and for several reasons. (Let's start by saying that mine got 'abused' since I couldn't keep my hands off my houseboy for more than two days.) 1. NO antibactial ANYTHING. The antibacterial properties damage the newly forming skin cells which are going to heal the channel. 2. I can see how sea salt could irritate for some people, but I used it with no trouble. If you're concerned about it, switch to pure saline, like you buy for your eyes. It's a milder mix, brought to a neutral PH, which will encourage healing. 3. My first four were done with captive bead rings (CBRs) but took much longer to heal than the last ones, which were done with a curved barbell. The current stance among most piercers is that the CBRs move so much (and bind!) that they irritate the area. I can definitely attest to that. Using curved barbells, my last two were effectively healed in two weeks, though of course one expects it to take the full 6 months to toughen up. (Mine didn't, but I'm Wolverine.) Beyond that, just leave 'em alone, stay away from chemicals, and they should be fine. The fact that your piercer claims to be a 'master' and had such questionable aftercare worries me. My piercer (now retired) worked on Me for seven years, but was in the industry for almost twenty. JMO.
