Is plain oatmeal good for weight loss? No sugar or honey or shit , ok well maybe honey, but can oatmeal be good for weight loss, I know they tote it as a part of absolution to high cholesterol. Ok. I hate to be a nay say’er but no, its not. Allow me to explain. The plain oatmeal variety purchased in chain stores is not. There is very little nutrient content, it and really does nothing to give you energy for the day. In fact the only energy that really comes from this breakfast meal is from the sweeteners added. (Brown sugar, honey etc.) Now if you use ½ cup of oatmeal in conjunction with 2 cups of fruit, you now have a better nutrient content meal. If you go to a specialty food store and purchase, non-mass produced and non processed Oat-meal, not only is it healthier, you’ll also "UP" you nutrient content again. Consider this Fact from the “US-FDA”, mirrored by “Health Canada”: 1 med. egg has LESS fat, MORE energy, and LESS cholesterol then 4 slices of processed white bread. Also consider this Fact from most chefs and cooks: 2 eggs can be cooked in less then 2 minutes, Oatmeal takes 15 mins. or more The North American diet of a small portioned breakfast, medium portioned lunch, and large dinner is a problem. Using the car analogy; You fill you car up with enough fuel to get to work, later you give it enough to get you home. But before bed time you run to the gas station and fill it full, and let it sit for the night. Does that make sense for a human being, no, you body just stores everything. I also want you to consider this, if you change you dietary needs to loose weight, chose one you like. By changing you eating habits to loose weight, you need to continue this for the rest of your life. If you change back, you gain back. Period. Think about everyone on the yo-yo diets, they loose on the diet, they always gained when the came off because the went back to old pattern of eating. Ponder these two dietary changes. The average woman needs 12-1800 calories. If you are not a big breakfast eater try this. For the sake of this example; We’ll put you on the 1800 calories per day. I now want you to eat 6 meals of 300 calories. If you like big meals, I want you to reverse the order. A large breakfast at the beginning of your day, a large lunch, and a light meal at the end. The last thing I would suggest; tea; and lots of it. Black tea is good, green is better. No sweeteners or milks. I make no guarantees it will work for you, but it did work for me. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor.
