Are you using the Wilton molds? When i sold the farm i gave those to my daughters but i used to have all kinds.

I still have some awesome recipes for the ones you fill if you'd like.

LOL I have no idea, it was a plastic mold of a CD, so probably not.

Definitely if you have recipes, I'd appreciate!

I'm addicted to Maruchan Ramen cup noodles. I'm also a bit of a label whore; I'm very much into designer clothing. That being said, I love a good sale. I just stocked my wardrobe with a whole bunch of Hollister, abercrombie, A + F, and Ruehl for practically nothing because things were 80% off or more. What kills me is that the stuff is well-made, the fabric is lovely, and it fits well...

Any of these fillings can be spooned or pressed into a fillable chocolate mold that has already been coated with chocolate. Or they can be shaped by hand and dipped in chocolate. If dipping then preshape the filling, place on cookie sheet lined with wax paper and freeze then dip them.

Coconut filling; 1 twelve oz bag coconut, 1 cup white chocolate chips, 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk, i teaspoon almond extract.. Nuke the milk and white chocolate about i minute then stir in the coconut and almond extract. Cool and use as noted above.

Truffle filling. You can vary this one so many ways.

1st pick a chocolate, you can use dark, milk, or white. One twelve oz bag.

Then either use plain vanilla or pick any extract or liquor flavor you like. Walnut, hazelnut, orange, lemon, Kahlua, Cocoribe, Chambord, Amaretto, Gold rum, you get the idea. If using extract use one teaspoon, if using liquor use two tablespoons.

I cup heavy whipping creme.

Option, you can also pick dried fruit or nuts as well. Some like raisins, dried pineapple, candied orange peel, chopped maraschino cherries, walnuts etc.

Melt the chocolate for about i minute then stir in the creme, nuke at 10 second intervals until all the chips are melted, stir in your flavoring and fruits or nuts if you picked any, follow above procedure after this has cooled enough to handle.

Caramel filling.

I bag of caramels

I cup of whipping creme. Cook just like the truffle filling. Use or flavor in same manner.

Peanut butter, hazelnut, or marzipan filling.

Use either i cup of peanut butter or one cup of almond or hazelnut paste.

You may also add pieces of chopped nuts as well.

I cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

4 tablespoons softened butter.

Mix in a bowl, shape, then proceed as above

I started to send these by email but with all the recipe threads going i figured i'd just post them.

It is fascinating how branding and other variables such as price can create the perception of "quality" and manipulate consumers to pay a premium for it. In grad school they introduced us to this notion with Sunkist lemons, and if you can brand a lemon you can brand just about anything. Perdue creates the perception of better quality chicken by feeding theirs marigolds to give it a "yummy" yellow color though it tastes no different than other chicken. Another case involved White Trucks which long ago were perceived as being low quality, so they raised the price and sales increased.

Yup... that old saying "you get what you pay for"... i laugh whenever someone tells me that. If you bought a Pet Rock, did you really get a better-quality rock than if you picked one up out of your yard?  No doubt, there are a lot of times when it is true (Walmart "furniture" is just one example), but if you take it as gospel, you're just a sucker.

Kitchen products must be solid stainless steele - I have a set of Wolfgang Puck cookware that works well

No kidding...I bought a set of them too...aren't they awesome???

Yes!!

And did you know, if you heat the pan up before you put the oil in (if you are sauteeing, etc,) the oil heats up instantly, read to put the food it, and things don't stick?

The other night at the grocery story I laughed at myself as I avoided the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter because it's "not butter" while I did select another product that claimed it had "buttery taste" . . . even though that wasn't butter either and I knew it . . . and I paid an extra nickle for the priveledge. heh.

I never have to worry about that particular issue at least, if it doesn't say butter, I don't buy it. I went to a marketing seminar several years ago and a doctor was one of the speakers. When he explained that although butter did have a substantial fat content, it was healthier than magarine because margarine was essentially only colored fat. I already preferred butter before, but at least I felt like I was accidently doing something healthy...lol.

On tools and weapons, I must have name brands, for every thing else  as long as the quality is there, the label dosn't mean anything to me.

i'm really only a huge stickler for brands when it comes to a few things. i'll only wear expensive brand-name jeans (usually either venezia or ashley stewart, or if i can't find those, then i'll go higher - like gloria vanderbilt), because nothing else -fits-. for frozen dinners, it's healthy choice or amy's (unless i want frozen curry, in which case i'll occasionally sneak in one of those other organic kinds). i only buy one kind of bread, but i can't remember the brand off the top of my head. i'm picky when it comes to chocolate, so i pretty much only stick to the expensive, imported brands (but i love milka...although that's imported -here-, so i guess that still counts :P). for me to actually want godiva is a rare occurrance *makes a face* and while i avoid hershey's like the devil unless making s'mores, i do have a penchant for dove :P hot chocolate, only rocky mountain chocolate factory, twining's, or valrhona. i'll drink all different kinds of tea, but only twining's makes decent earl grey or english breakfast :P and only red rose makes decent iced tea bags...lipton is disgusting. i generally don't go generic on most foods other than what i've listed, but on anything else, i'm pretty comfy with generic. i'm picky when it comes to computer stuff, but not tied to any particular brand name (my digital camera this time around is canon, but before it was nikon, so i'm not even terribly picky there.) i'm also picky when it comes to perfume (i use only natural essential oils), but again, not tied down to any one brand name. oh, i pretty much only use redken fresh curls shampoo and conditioner, though, unless i'm completely out and can't afford to buy anymore :P

anyone else find that either through learned preferences or perhaps just damned good advertising that they are tunnel-visioned on specific brands?

I have a few brand preferences, but to be fair I have tried other brands and still found that I was right about the superiority of my choices...lol. I like Tide, Dawn dish soap, Kellogs Cornflakes, Cheerios, Comet. This cereal is comfort food to me, nothing else tastes the same.

I do try different shampoos all the time with money has no object because I really am in search of the perfect brand of shampoo, but I have not found it yet.

I have no brand loyalty other than what I mentioned above. I will search for a bargain. I prefer antique things a lot of the time to new things because they are often made better.

My Daddy is way into buying something quality the first time, and not having to rebuy it again for a long long time. If that means buying an expensive brand, he will do it. I sometimes think that one can buy a less expensive brand and get the same quality.... one has to pay attention to what one is doing.  My sister used to let me access her Consumer Reports Online when she had a current subscription, and they have great info on there.

I used to work at a place that made car brakes. We packaged generic breaks... three different kinds... and Midas breaks... all out of the same boxes. The only difference? Midas accepted less flaws in the pad. We also packaged VW breaks... we took them out of a box that said made in Canada and put them in a box that said made in America. I have no idea where they actually came from.

And in some cases you may only think you are buying an off brand. I purchased a tool box when I worked doing CNC and thought it was an off brand only to find out a few years later that it's the company that makes Craftsman toolboxes. I worked at Sears for a while. I also found out that quite a few of the Craftsman power tools are made by Black & Decker.

In some instances it isn't the brand name that counts, it's the warrenty. Like Levi's... Don't know if they still have the same warrenty or not, but years ago the warrenty (not widely publicized) was that if a seam failed before there was a hole in the fabric they would replace them no questions asked... and it's true, or was at least... I had a seam fail in a pair that was only worn four or five times and the store replaced them.

And not only colored fat, but a good part is colored trans fat, and that is something that should be avoided.
