Ok, Ok, maybe I was slightly wrong.  But I do love the cop shows.  I make sure I tune in when they touch on BDSM or sex parties, but that's more because I'm a pervert then anything else.

How am I going to handle a vanilla fiancee?  I don't really know, yet.  So far I've been writing online stories, and they've helped, a little.

Grisson is cool as shit, and I'd live to serve Lady Heather.

The thing that you all have to realise is that, no matter what W/we do, there is going to be a naysayer out there. There is no point making forums like this online, when it's TV we're up against. The fucking media. Everything even slightly misunderstood has a damned voodoo attachment and it's about time people stopped bothering talking about it, because it's not going to go away.

Instead let's focus on us. Within our little group how awesome we are. lol. W/we don't need Vanilla's to understand, because we do. And that's all that's important, right?

Don't know if the Domme ad from www.thetvboss.org has been mentioned anywhere else on the boards, but it seemed like a good place to mention it here.

The ad is built into the site so I can't give a direct link, but once you navigate to the site, click the "PSA Materials" button and it's the last TV ad in the rolling list.

The couple is blocking the Mistress's ad so their unmentionables won't see it, but they don't exactly say they don't like her show.

FR here:

Don't feel singled out. For those of us who work in medical labs.... ever see a show where the lab was portrayed in a positive light? Its always "the lab made a mistake"..... grrrrrrr. Sure, boo-boo's happen just occasionally, considering the gazillion tests that are performed each year (lab tests make up about 70% of a patient's medical record), they are inevitable - and the lab is inevitably the fall guy in the medical drama. *Sigh*.

Watching the US shows that are imported here, it seems to be fairly rare to find any that are not sickly moralistic in tone I'm afraid, usually carrying some religious message within the way events and people are portrayed. Anything straying from a certain model of the world is usually portrayed negatively - which I find rather amusing in some ways since its often the repressed religious types who are the most dangerous people in society.

Lady Heather is coming back to CSI on May 10th. I thought I would let you CSI fans know if you don't already. I get T.V. Guide so it was something I seen in this weeks magazine.

Well, I am going to tell you alittle bit about what might happen this time they are saying it could reveal Grissom and Sara's relationship, and that she won't have the effect of their relationship as you would assume she would. So, I can't wait to see what is going to happen.

Thats great news about Lady Heather. I hope she comes in and blows Sara out of the water, I really dont like that pairing.

Oh and how could we forget Abby from NCIS? She is just cool...

mmmm Abbey! God she's gorgeous. And a forensic scientist. 2 of my favourite things, hot women and forensic science, rolled into one utterly fascinating creature. Shame Abbey is fiction and Pauly is not more like her...

Have you ever noticed on Law and Order, (and it's offshoots), NYPD Blue, and most other shows, that BDSM is always evil?  It seems like when someone dies by bondage or anything that has to do with BDSM, some character is always calling the person involved with the lifestyle a "freak" or some other bullcrap.

Well, picture this: A warm loving couple having kinky sex in a good, well-educated relatively safe way. Nothing goes wrong, no-one gets hurt. They grow old together happily.

Now try to turn that into an interesting Law & Order screenplay.

What about episodes about poly people? I can't remember which crime show it was (pretty sure it wasn't CSI though), but they had a male and two females in a poly family. The male died. In the end they figure out that the two women killed him to get to be together. I wish they would portray that in a better way too.

I just can't expect script writers to get it right.  They never do.  One of the biggest belly laughs I've had from televison was the CSI episode where they had radioactive contamination in the lab.  The repsonse team was so hilariously wrong I was rolling.

Abby from NCIS, yummy, although, I love Zeva David.  Strong, not shy about her body and sex life, ruthless when it comes to the job, and sexy as hell.  Her, Abby and me, now there's a scene that'll take me forever to get out of my head.

if i were you i wouldnt waste the energy being pissed. people fear what they do not know. or what is considered outside the "norm". if you ask me shows like the ones you point out wont look at bdsm as acceptible because advertisers would freak

The supposed association of BDSM with 'Evil' has always been there.
It's always seen as a dark, underground scene that any god fearing man should both avert his eyes from and stay away from.

Tomcat:
"In all fairness, they also portray the resturant business, banking, insurance sales and high school field trips pretty negitivly too..."
The point is that it's not just the popular Crime Drama 'Law and Order: SVU' that does it.  It's a pretty popular theme to bash and/or use when trying to portray the criminal/evil doer/bad guy as exactly that.

beltainefaerie:
"In many other situations, the group being portrayed poorly will bombard the writers/networks, etc. with notes and emails about how the portrayal hurts the community, why the image they are sending is wrong, etc.  What if all the kinky folk were to do that?  I think people in TV land would be amazed that so many of us are well-spoken individuals that aren't "freaks" at all.

However, it is always my belief that if we aren't doing anything to change it, we can't really complain about it."

I don't believe for one second that any network would give two shits about annoying what is, by comparison to the vanilla population, a relatively small community.  They know that what they are doing is putting arses in seats and selling DVDs.  The all mighty dollar will reign supreme.

We'll never escape it, and thus I'm affraid we'll either have to live with it or switch off whichever show offends us in this regard.
