Mikal -> Good Kinky Books (2/26/2007 3:50:37 PM)

Hey all you lovely & kinky bibliophiles [:)],

I have a gift certificate from Amazon.ca, and I figured I'd add to my (very limited) kinky book collection. [8D]
Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice kinky read?  Or a list of books that are a waste of time? I'm not looking for boring ol' wanker material - a storyline is a must!

Currently, I have The Story of O, the Sleeping Beauty trilogy, and Demon Lover (Black Lace series). I have no interest in the Gor books, or anything too... hmm... visceral.

Thanks for your help! [sm=smile.gif]

Check out Kushiel's Legacy! It's pretty interesting and with a storyline!
I was reading it at one point, but then I stopped because of personal reasons. But while I was reading it, it had a fair amount of kink and a wonderful storyline.

Here's a wikipedia page for you to skim through about it:

For fiction, this would have been my first choice lacking what you already have.

Take away the 'paid to be a slave' aspect of it, and you really get into the heads of people who serve because that is the way they have to live.

The kink and the sex is great, but it's the 'inside the mind' that is the best.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series is very kinky, and passionate...and bloody.
The boy and I love it.  There is a definite D/s and S&M theme to the story, and the author takes quite a bit from Wiccan and Celtic legends to form her stories.
Sultry and stimulating reads.
The first one is called Kiss of Shadows.

Oh and as someone already mentioned...the Kushiel's Legacy books by Jacqueline Carey are good too, as well as Anne Rice's Beauty Series and Exit to Eden.

With kind regard,
~Kara

Talk about quick responses! [:D] I knew I liked this site for a reason.... lol

Thanks for the imput; Ms. G. Whore, I actually have Kushiels Dart and Avatar, but I haven't gotten around to reading them (Christmas gift). I didn't realize they had kinky elements [sm=ofcourse.gif]. I've heard about the Marketplace series, but they seemed to have mixed reviews (either people liked them or considered them a waste)... methinks I'll have to re-evaluate them [;)]. Thanks Ms. Marwood & mstrjx [:)]. (Psss... mstrjx, what does that stand for/say? Mister Jacks?)

I love her series too.  Course I also love the Anita Blake series of hers.

Laurell K. Hamilton's Merry Gentry series...

I actually have all of her books... Merry Gentry, Anita Blake, and others that were published before them (Ravenloft, Nighseer). [sm=lol.gif] While I do agree that they have some BDSM elements, I was looking for something that went a little more indepth. I see her books as being a Vanilla's welcoming to WIITWD - not too scary, but with enough spice to be interesting.

Thanks for your input Ms. Karamel [:)]

PsyVamp,

You misunderstand...I've read ALL of Hamilton's books.  When I find an author I like, I read everything s/he has written...even if it stinks.  The other author I like...she's not kinky...she writes the series about the werewolf, the female werewolf and witches.  Her name escapes me now.

I personally did not like the market place books I read, nor did I like the beauty series.

hereyesruponyou -> RE: Good Kinky Books (2/26/2007 5:35:02 PM)

Love to see so many LKH fans!  I love all her stuff too, was sadly disappointed in the last Merry book. Much too short. But i had read in her journal that she was feeling frustrated with the storyline as she was feeling more Anita inspired. Guess she just gave in to get one out there.

I totally recommend you include non-fiction material on your shelf. The NLA link is fantastic! I'm bookmarking it.

Another vote for the Kushiel books! Oh my gosh, such lush fantasy! I love the 3rd book best ;)

Well, the 'j' stands for Jeff.  The 'x' means a lot of different things (and nothing, in a sense).

For instance, in math, you solve for 'x'.  'X' is the mystery value, which clearly represents something of myself.

But there are many other explanations.

Jeff

Mikal -> RE: Good Kinky Books (2/26/2007 6:16:43 PM)

lol... so, you're Mister J Mystery? [;)]

Thanks to everyone for your input. I'm going to peruse some more books & links [sm=banana.gif]
