I would definately not say the pill will "generally make a girl sick". My sub has been on the pill for years with no side effects of any kind. In fact most women I know love the pill. Sometimes you need to switch brands/dossages to find the one that works for you.

All I have to say about the pill is that Masters and I are expecting our second child, both unplanned and concievied while I was taking the pill.

I was on the pill , then went to the norplant, I had 10 years without a problem. They were good for five years. I believe they are coming back on 3 years programs. I am older and now the doctor says no to them and I am trying to get back on BCP since I was without a partner for 3 to 4 years and felt i wanted a break from all that.

My girl is on the pill. Can safely say it has not slowed down her sex drive one bit at all. I have also seen ones on the shot, either the three or the six month one. Neither really slowed those girls down either. The shot can make one infertile though with extended use. Most clinics here say to be on it less than 18 months. As for the insertables like norplant, The ones i have seen use it, and there have been several, reported very heavy weight gain, very heavy hormonal imbalances, heavy cramps and a few other lovely side effects. Personally, if you do not like the pill, would go with the shot option. It stops the cycles cold in pretty mcuh all of the ones I have had use it over the years.

Greetings i have experienced many of these same symptoms with the shot. my Master and i have agreed that i will stay on the shot until i'm with Him r/t, so i'm hoping to be with Him within a year and then He and i agree i should go to the pill at that time. Mood swings, some light depression from time to time, and i have not had a period since i started it are some of the issues i have with it. Also, weight gain. i've been working on losing weight, but it's been rather difficult. Last time i did the shot, i shot up 15-20 lbs. No fun for a woman who is already heavy. Definitely talk to your Dr regarding this. S/He is the one who can give you the best advice. Well wishes -santalia{JR}t

I was on the pill when I was younger. But I'd take it at odd times... or I'd forget to take it. Then I switched to the Depo shot... and bled consistently for six months. Yes. Six months. Two shots. Six months. No fun. I tried OrthoEvra after that. I had a massive allergic reaction to the adhesive (looked like chemical burn when I removed it). I've been off of all methods for a while. However, I'm also celibate.

I got the implant done last year (Implanon) and it's worked out great, $30 (I think it's more in the USA because you don't have the same government subsidies as us in Australia), I get about two days of very light bleeding a month and maybe a day of mild cramps. It's so much better than before and i don't need to take a pill, or get a shot! Lasts for three years! Only problem is the implanting is kinda hardcore and i sometimes get people wanting to feel my arm for the weird piece of plastic there (it's more than an inch long) My sister got the shot and had headaches and cramps for the whole three months till she was clear of the hormone.

the 5 year implant that you've been seeing commercials for lately is Mirena (i adore it!) also, i've had that "partner screaming that his penis is on fire" senario more than a couple times due to spermicide....plus after vigourous sex it makes me feel that way too! ack!!

Beyond that I abhor condoms in monogamous relationships, and can't tolerate hormones. I highly recommend an IUD! A planned parenthood is probably the best way to get one, as many doctors will not insert an IUD in a young woman who has never had children. PP tends to be more openminded on that topic.

fifteen years on the pill, various brands. Trivia: take out a condom with nonoxynol 9, use it to remove the polish from your fingernails. Both hands, one condom. Depo is fairly unsafe and caustic chemicals are caustic chemicals. IUD is great for some, misery for others . I had a diaphragm, used it once. I got a blister in my vagina from the edge rubbing during sex. I hear you can take the ring out for sex if you remember to put it back in. Like the patch, the ring releases a lot more hormones than you get taking the pill. More trivia: Birth control pill estrogen comes from pregnant horses. Some 60% of my morning hormone dose is pissed out into the water supply. Its causing frogs and fish and abalone to be hermaphroditic and sterile. Well, partly. Even plastic acts as an estrogen, pollution is probably more to blame then sexual freedom (ahem). I'm a pill fan. Try a low dose if you haven't already. Although an imported copper T sounds good. Its a huge investment and if in six months you have to take it out, it would be a waste.

My IUD cost less than $50! They are much cheaper in Europe. My insurance covered the insertion and STD testing.

Sometimes you need to switch brands/dossages to find the one that works for you. yes b/c most girls remember to take it with food/milk. mine makes me a bit nauseous only b/c i take it in the morn on an empty stomach... just like ibuprofen would make me nauseous as well in an empty tummy. . . on the copper IUD note ..... hmmm well all i can say about that is that we use copper lined planter pots in my line of work to prevent roots from circling and re circling in the pots they are in [eventually will choke the plant] the copper lining will kill the root when it reaches the pot. i just think its eerie/creepy and would not want to stimulate my uterus in such that way but am jealous of the hassle free part, teehee

I happened to be doing some reading on my own form of IUD, Mirena and noticed that they say the major problem with insertion in a nulliparous woman (one who has not given birth) is expulsion. They were slightly hesitant in insertion with myself because though I'd been pregnant, I'd not had a full vagina birth (UM got stuck half way out and had to be pushed back in and taken out via C section..OUCH) and they weren't sure how much my cervix had been opened and such. Having been able to feel my UM's head just by reaching down before they yanked him the other way, I knew myself that my cervix was fine and had been more than dialated enough for it to have counted! Anyway, the risk of the IUD falling out seems to drop significantly after a year of placement, but they always want you to make sure and check your cervix after each period (if you have one...I don't!! yay!{if you have a PERIOD..not a cervix...of course you have a cervix! lol!}) to make sure you can feel the strings of the IUD no matter what the situation is, just to make sure it's still where it should be. oh...BTW...I had my Mirena inserted at my county health clinic here in the middle of nowhere ND and didn't pay a dime. Had I been required to pay anything it would have been up to a maximum of $150, I was told....but even that would have been a steal!! No period, no endo pain, no pills every day...none of that. man I love it!! I absolutely do NOT miss paying $35 for pills and waking up in a panic wondering if I remembered to take it! my point being....look into all the options that may be available to you for help...I would have never guessed I could get Mirena done for free around here. talk to your doctor, your nurse, your friends...someone knows something you want to know!

i had the 5 year rods between my first and second sons.... the only thing that worked for me i have 2 pill babies and 2 condom babies and one that was planned sighs softly...yeah that makes 5....hands out the cool cloths and oxygin masks to those who need them anyway i would sugest that you consider the implants they are easy in and easy out and last five years without worry
