I've been reading various online BDSM and D/s dictionaries to try and learn 'the lingo,' and I've gotten caught up in the idea of virgin rapture.

Maybe it's more accurate to say that I am caught up in virgin rapture, which both fascinates and worries me.

I wonder if it's obvious that I'm this glowy-honeymoon phase of subbiness. I wonder what Doms make of subs who are in this mental-psychological place. I wonder what will be different and feel different in me when the rapture fades.

Any thoughts on this state of subby mind?

i'd never heard of this and had to google it to figure out what you were talking about.

to be honest, i think this is natural with anything. we have this phase at the beginning of relationships, at the beginning of starting a new hobby, etc. yes, i feel like this is the only way i want to have intimate relationships and can't imagine ever returning to anything else. is that a symptom of honeymoon phase? maybe.

then again, there are plenty of posters who've been at this for years and years and wouldn't have it any other way, too.

Wait until the sub frenzy fades before making any commitments...other than that, enjoy the ride.

Use it as motivation to further your knowledge. But, remember you are a bit altered, so it's best not to make any commitments untill you adjust. Afterall, you have plenty of time on your hands.

As someone said- sub frenzy.

One only hopes that they don't screw up too much during that phase before it passes.

Many of us when we awaken the sleeping sub inside want to learn all we can from every avenue and source we can get our hands in.
I felt like I made sense to me and what was missing from my life came home all in one big thump.
Most people recommend you not committing to a collar or mated relationship in the first year of your new life.
In that time you run like a freight train in your mind as you consider all this new knowledge, energy, and sensation.
In your first year you will change your mind often about yourself and your limits.
You'll find things you feel you'll never understand are things you enjoy and things you think are nifty sweet are bitter pills sometimes.
The term sub frenzy really describes the driving force to cut loose and run with all your heart with all the trust of a new puppy.
You'll make mistakes, you'll have incredible Epiphanies, and over all you'll flex and bend as you grow just like the rest of us.
I guess after the first year you have such a better base of who you are and what works for you that you sort of get a more tunnel visioned focus and view.
The delighted kid looking through Macy's window at Christmas in NY for the first time, vs when you've done it about six times before would be a good metaphor for the way it sort of feels when the sub frenzy wears off.
Both are good, both bring wonder and self awareness, one just is in overdrive and starving and the other's cruising along eating lunch.
Good luck in your journey.

Remember how excited you were at your first new job? How you felt the day you graduated highschool? How your whole future was opened up to you and there were no impediments to your unending success?

virgin rapture or sub-frenzy.

suzanne,
your whole post was right on mark but i really love the analogy above...it is very accurate! To take this analogy further, not just any lunch satisfies after awhile...but a good lunch - healthy, extremely tasty, slightly gourmet with a fine glass of wine to accompany it :-)
you get to the point - you can wait for that type lunch because it is worth the wait and the only one that will satisfy the "hunger".
