I continue to wonder at the use of the word 'Master'.  It's not a title I would ever feel comfortable using to describe Myself.  I request that My current sub call me 'Sir', along with any subs with whom I come into contact, IRL or on-line.

But, I feel 'Master' is a title that should be bestowed by One's subs, or other Doms, not by one's own self.

As for sadist, I have had a hard time explaining to people that I'm respectful of limits, and fully adhere to (at least) the 'consensual' part of s/s/c--

--yet, I can be as sadistic as necessary, while always at the same time maintaining my sub's/play partner's comfort.  There are some rather sadistic things I really enjoy doing (I love leaving marks on a lady's ass with a cane, for example) but I only enjoy doing them if either 1) the acts themselves, or 2) the fact that doing them brings Me pleasure, are turn-ons for the lady, too.

If she's not into it for at least one of the above reasons, then it's not consensual, and I'm not going to enjoy it, either.

My 2 pennies is no, not all "Masters" have to be sadists. I think that alot of people fall into the roles they feel are expected of them. If I am the top then I must wear black leather and beat any sub unlucky enough to cross my path. Kind of the difference between experience and "well I saw this online".

I have had the pleasure of many different types of submissives, and not all are pain sluts (though bless the ones that are). Domination can take many different forms and pain and sadism, at least for me, isn't the way I dominate a submissive, it's how I enjoy a masochist, and vise versa I might add. Personally I don't want a pet that waits for my next command out of fear of retribution. The service from a happy, safe submissive far outweighs that of a scared one, in my humble opinion. And when the sadistic streak arises... Well that's what the pain sluts are for...
