zindyslave, first the earliest signs of pregnancy are nausea, food intolerance, fatigue and emotional instability.  When these appeared in my patients (yes, i am a doctor an obstetrician to be precise) i assumed pregnancy until proven otherwise.  Second from one of your posts it sounds like you have irregular menses which suggests anovulation but you are also on a medication for insulin resistance (is it metformin perhaps) these drugs are also used to treat some women with infertility caused by irregular menses so don't assume that because you have  irregular periods or even have been infertile that you still are.  Get a pregnancy test either from your pharmacy or in a clinic but use a first morning urine specimen (it is the most concentrated).  Then if it is negative you can look at other causes more leisurely.

zindyslave -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 8:22:15 PM)

Okay, okay since I see what metformin is used for.ugh...the only reason I say things about the periods and pregnancy thing is because financially we aren't ready for it. But thank you sweet bobbie for the info about insulin resistance medicine, I wish someone had told me this before now. I am going to buy a test tommorow and I will let you all know. Sorry I was arguing but I am just not ready for it.

SweetBobbie -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 9:16:04 PM)

you are not alone in that zindyslave, and many docs who prescribe metformin are unaware of its use in infertility but only of its use in diabetes.  Good luck.

zindyslave -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 9:34:09 PM)

I looked it up in wikipedia, so yeah I seen that it is used in patients with PCOS so thank you for telling me that. I was talking to my mom and she wants me to have a kid..geez..lol...well I guess I will be buying a test first thing tommorow after I get my paycheck and I will wait until Saturday Morning to test. Thank you all for your responses and I am sorry I argued a bit.

temptressofsouls -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 10:52:12 PM)

Im on meds for insulin resistance, and every time i change the dose i get really nauseous and throw up all the time for like 4-6 days.

HutchGarahl -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 10:53:18 PM)

Ah don't worry about it. I'm not sure anyone is ever really for kids...but it happens. :P

As for those home tests....I wouldn't hold my breath on those. I used 4 and each on said I was negative....blood test proved I was 4 months along.

atlbbwsubbie -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/26/2007 11:07:56 PM)

just thought i would chime in. i take the met for PCOS. And yes it is used to treat infertility.  But so far it hasn't worked for me . :(   It can also make you sick though.  If you eat a lot of sugar, or taking it without food or milk.

Well, from what I have heard it can be harder for women with irregular cycles to get pregnant because sometimes they don't always ovulate. But by the same token women with irregular cycles can ovulate without having a period making it easier to get pregnant so their are a lot of uncertainies in that situation.

"Harder" doesn't mean "impossible" [:)]   I used to be really irregular and I was Fertile Myrtle.  You have every symptom of early pregnancy.  I rarely caught colds but came down with one early in each of my pregnancies.  How about your boobs?  Are they swelling and itching like crazy?  Are you peeing more?  Gagging with the toothbrush is classic.

Based on what you're saying, I think all of us here will be surprised if you're NOT pregnant.

windchymes -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/27/2007 6:06:27 AM)

P.S.  No one is EVER ready financially or emotionally to have a baby!  [;)]

You just do it, and it will work out fine.

zindyslave -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/27/2007 6:18:20 AM)

Well, I am not having any other symptoms but nausea and emotional problems. When I take my meds I always eat with them so I won't get sick. I can eat sugar without it making me sick but I try to cut down on my sugar because it is just healthier that way. I know that some pregnancy tests fail, but I will keep an eye on my symptoms if the test says negative and if they don't get better then I will go to the health department for a quick test without having to wait for my doctor just easier that way. And as far as the financial readiness for having a baby I mean that I am still living with my father in law, and I have only a part time job and currently my husband isn't working. So, really a baby would be a bad thing for us right now I was wanting to wait a few years until I had a baby but if it happens then I can't do anything to stop it.

HutchGarahl -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/27/2007 9:39:15 AM)

I believe someone already stated, and it is true...not all signs will show up front. Some take a bit of time to come. So just beware. :P

At least you have a job and a place to stay. When I had my first born, I was living on the streets with no money...no way to care for her. Thank god for shelters. They helped provide a roof over my head and food, clothes for the baby and eventually sent me to my grandmothers where I stayed for 2 mnths till I was able to travel back home to mom.

zindyslave -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/27/2007 10:01:26 AM)

Well, I know thats true, it is just I wanted to be more independent and ready for a kid and I am not right now, heck I am not even mature enough to have a kid right now! But if I am then I will deal with it. I bought a test today but I am not going to use it until Tommorow morning before I go to work, so I will post tommorow as to the outcome of the test.

HutchGarahl -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/27/2007 10:04:48 PM)

Understandable. I wished I had been better prepared for a child before having any.....unfortunately, the birth control failed on me and I had a kid....bad thing is....this happened twice. Both my firstborn and my son are birth control babies.

Good luck to ya hun. We await the results.

i am the latter of the two of these...i definitely am of the irregular cycle type and i have been pregnant three times..the first time after about 6 months of trying..the other two while i was on birth control. (the second time was about 7 months after the first was born and third time was about 2 years ago...two of those three pregnancies were sucessful to term - the third was miscarriage due to extremely high levels of stress..if you are pregnant please be certain your stress level is low or reduce it to keep your body from rejecting the baby like mine did...)

Well wishes

The bipolar meds could also be the cause, but I'm inclined to agree that pregnancy is more likely. If the home test turns up negative, schedule an appointment to have the doctor do a proper pregnancy test, as well as taking a blood sample for the concentration of your bipolar meds.

SeveredNeuron -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/28/2007 5:55:26 AM)

Dear Zindyslave,

Your problem is more likely to do with your enteric nervous system (a very special system which deals with your digestive system) then anything else.
Pregnancy could be possible (like so many others have entertained), however such a sudden onset with no other symptoms lead me to think it could be something else.
I would advise to get an upper endoscopy to check out your stomach and parts of your small intestine (they take a tiny camera and put it down your mouth and into your stomach, and are also able to biopsy pieces of your insides... your under a sedative for the whole procedure which takes about 15 minutes).
The reason I am able to tell you this is I've been having massively painful migraines and unexplained nausea for the last 4 months and after giving a few pints of blood, having a CAT scan, an endoscopy and god knows what else, the doctors still have no idea whats wrong with me.
Another suggestion is it could be drug interactions -- my doctors made me get off all my drugs including the contraceptive pill, all pain killers (which was difficult as i was taking maximum dosage everyday to keep the pain away), all nausea related medication and anything herbal i was taking (it was only valerian to put me to sleep) for a while to see if it could be any of those... unfortunately it wasnt.

Sometimes the human body likes to play funny games which aren't quite as hilarious to us as it thinks.

I do hope they figure out whats wrong though, because i know how much of a pain in the ass it all is.

Much luck!

Ania

temptressofsouls -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/28/2007 6:01:27 AM)

That name makes me shiver, and not in a good way.

Holy crap, the images.

zindyslave -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/28/2007 5:15:18 PM)

I took the test this morning, no pregnancy. I will have to schedule an appointment with my doc and I will get them to check my blood levels to make sure my meds aren't to high. I will also get them to do a blood pregnancy test to be on the safe side, with all the pregnancy tests they have done on me maybe I should buy stock in the company...lol..well anyway since I have had a cold I haven't been nauseous but that is because I can't smell anything. I have cried a bit but mainly from missing my dad alot. Well, I thought this would update everyone thanks for the advice.

I had a endoscopy under a year ago and nothing was wrong with me and they have me on prevacid because of burns in my esphogus from heartburn. So, I should be okay on that part. If they can't find out what is wrong then I guess that would be a last resort since my insurance doesn't like to pay for stuff like that if they can avoid it.

minnetar -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/28/2007 7:48:10 PM)

zindy,
i am so glad you took the pregnancy test and found it negative.  Have you researched the side effects to the meds you are on?  Do that and if anyone has nausea ask them to change it please.

minnetar

opensoul -> RE: Sick to my stomach and emotional (4/28/2007 8:08:22 PM)

Go to webmd and type in all your meds , it will give uses and side effects too and if two are not to be taken together.
