FemMiss -> Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 6:54:30 AM)

Dear admins, why under our names these unpleasant words exist? if we will be called here that way, so what the ppl in the street will describe us?!

These words can affect our self-image without knowing that...
The subconsious doesnt differentiate between a joke or a reality.. if someone kept saying i'm a pervert for many times, evern if he was joking, his sbconscience will believe it and then the brain will act according to it.. i studied NLP and other related stuff concerning the subconscience...

You know what, i dont like to post many messages cuz of these insulting words...

It is better to put nicer words or let each one put what he wants like in other forums....
Thanks

/raises an eyebrow

its quite easy to just ignore someone who says something to you that you don't like

mistoferin -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 6:59:23 AM)

Those names are simply forum rankings which change relevant to the number of posts you make....not an assessment of your personal character. Really, you shouldn't take things so seriously. Most people here can't wait to go up in rank and get new kinky titles....this is a BDSM site after all.

Ae you speaking about the vanilla  that appears under your screenname in the new post and the deranged  word under mist's screenname?  They just refer to howmany times you have posted.   Absolutely nothing else.

PairOfDimes -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 7:04:06 AM)

Yeah, I find the valorization of anomaly or "perversion" among BDSMers a little irritating, too. I avoid using the words to describe myself, and I put up with it when it's institutional lingo to describe something else (e.g. prolific posting) as it is here.

Quivver -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 7:05:15 AM)

it's simply a choice of words that generate by level.
why those words were chosen i would guess is that we like to think of ourselfs at times as part of those words.
if you find them offensive ignore.  but i would like to ask what words you would choose if given the task?

Hey, I *like* being a pervert! (although I think I'm wicked right now - that works too)

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 8:06:14 AM)

By having an issue with such, you  enable simple words to have power. You can make words positive no matter what they are..or you can see any word from a negative stance,It is always up to you as to how you preceive them...Tempting

[:)]I'm wicked, perverted, sadistic and kinky. I'm proud of who and what I am. (I'm sure others could add to the list.)

Sometimes a joke is more important than political correctness.

thanks guys for ur replies, i know that they are just rankings, but i was surprised that we will be called here that way, i'm not taking them personally, but why? why these words not others like newbie, member, seasoned member, and such normal names, yes, thes ones used here are creative but kinda insulting..

wicked, perverted....etc are usually how ppl judge us, not necessarily how we really are, if u r a domme or like to be spanked in bed, this may considered bizarre to many ppl, but for u and the community you belong to is ok, this is how we like to have fun, this is noone else business! dont label urself with these negative words.. feel normal and enjoy life....

u have a point in that... i dont know how to make 'these words' positive, but i will try to ignore them, not to let them have power on me... not to make them a big deal....

Sanity -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 8:41:49 AM)

Being labeled "Vanilla" was the only insult I felt that way, but everyone is different, I suppose. And yes, I did feel very insulted, and didn't want to post at first because of it. Suggesting that they're "just" labels or that they shouldn't bother anyone is misguided in my opinion. Just like racial slurs can cause problems on the street, these labels here can be and obviously are an issue.

farglebargle -> RE: Why indecent, corrupt, perverted...?! (5/5/2007 8:42:40 AM)

The Social Constructivist would offer that Words Mean What We Agree They Mean, and without that agreed-meaning they are meaningless.

"Words" are neither positive or negative.
"INTENTIONS" are either positive/negative/both or neither, depending on the context.

The INTENT of the Sysops was, pretty apparently, positive.

Now if it said, "Skanky Whore", for just ONE person, that would be different. This is a straight lookup based on # of posts....

yes, this is a BDSM site, but we shouldnt consider ourselves perverted and evil cuz we have BDSM tendencies, this is not bad, this is how we were created and we should feel peace with that.....
