Although I have to warn you about switching to a goose. My mother did that one year and got nothing but complaints, it was good, it just wasn't Thanksgiving dinner. And yes, I was one of the complainers.

For xmas dinner my mother wants roast turkey.  And since it is HER house, and SHE is buying the food, I am certainly NOT going to tell her, "No." 

Although I almost have her talked into a crab boil for xmas eve.  When we were young we got to pick out a tv dinner (extreme rarity to have). . . when we got older she switched to lobster and prime rib.  ICK!  I have asked her NOT to let my brother-in-law cook the prime rib again.  I was horrified last year.  I do not even like the stuff and I was horrified at what he did to that expensive piece of meat.  He had sliced and marinated it, and then pan-fried it like steaks.  I have given the alternate of a salt-crusted tenderloin. 

I think that perhaps I will just go with the turkey.  Or maybe I will just do both.  Naw. . . my oven is not big enough.  It is not really a big deal. . .I can always try a goose another time.

Actually. . .  he is a good sort.  If I write it down on a list and give it to him, he will get it done.  A verbal list is no good because of the n-1 factor.

Xmas Eve - baked ham, scalloped potatoes, sliced carrots
Xmas Day - turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mashed carrots and turnips, christmas salad
Boxing Day - my grandmother's chicken (oven fried chicken) and pyrogies with mushroom gravy and sour cream
