The word typical has no place here in my opinion.

Unless we're talking about trolls and/or do-me subs.

I agree with this statement. That is just a phrase begging for gross generalizations that people full of cynicism and/or wanting to feel better then others can rant on.

I don't believe there is a "typical" submissive. We are all unique and don't think there is much of a commonality to define us in a general sense.

A typical submissive is a person who doesnt choose or desire or have the ability (or any combination thereof) to be Dominant.

On the other thread it was implied that a poster did not fit the "typical" profile of a submissive. As I said on that other thread, I know a LOT of submissives and I don't think that I could identify a common denominator amongst them that would be defining....other than of course, submission itself. So it got me to wondering it there are certain traits, qualities, hobbies, skills, etc, that people may view as being stereotypically "typical" of a submissive.

Heh.  Interesting question.  Lets not spark a Riot.

There is no such thing as typical or even normal when it comes to anything.  Of course you already know this and just looking for what everyone else is thinking.  My answer doesn't do you one wit of good.  I could theorize for you.

A typical submissive is on his/her knees all day, has no needs or wants and gives everything to their Dom

or

a typical submissive is bratty, annoying, snotty and just needs to be taught his/her place

or

A typical submissive is a person who is dominant in their every day life that just needs to "let go" for alittle while.

This...... or BS can go on forever and its too late.  Mist - what are you thinking other people are thinking of what a typical submissive is?

editted to add - you already answered my question.  Spot on.  To answer your question - i still have no clue

No such thing as 'typical.' Just like their is no such thing as 'normal.' Its all in pov [point of view] and in experience and averages; even then, its individualized.

I was going to construct a blind strategically placed between a Krispy Kreme a Stone Cold Creamery and a Methadone clinic to get a chance to view them all in their natural habitat.

Knight is sort of correct...Yes, they are connected by their submissive nature...But by reading a whole lot of the posts out here I gots to tell ya that them bitches be a whole bag full of crazy!!!!

Well, that's lets me out of the "typical" list. Why, just yesterday, as I was sewing the petals back on to the daisy plant (you know the deal, "he loves me, he loves me not..." except I like to cheat. Just sew those suckers right back on and start over if you don't get the answers you want. [I hear Foghorn Leghorn saying "I keep these numbered for just such an occassion" only we're talking petals, not feathers]  And anyway, I realized that combining sewing and gardening just does NOT work. Then I realized it was dinner time, so I called for something to be delivered in.

A typical submissive is one who is not a Dom.

or

Typical = normal....only a setting on a washing machine.

I think the only typical requirement other than submission is that they are a human being of either the boy or girl variety or on a very rare occasion a hermaphrodite.

I mean, after all, how much submission would you get from a duck?
