If you've run out of ideas for smoothies, how about trying a few ice cream floats on him to break the supply up a bit? If the lad could manage a sandwich last night, he should be back onto solid food soon, in any case.

Mangoes, peaches?

I use frozen fruit for smoothies and can find cherries and blackberries, along with mangoes readily.

Sensible, Lucy: most of what your old mate Insanitary is coming out with at the moment is much less convincing than most toddlers could manage, even if they'd been dropped on their heads. It's like watching Abu Hamza try to juggle, half the time.

Who the hell is Abu Hamza?

I admit that I am taking the munchmonster back to see his surgeon today.
I admit that I am at a loss as to how to deal with some of his symptoms and complaints
I admit that giving him the tylonol 3 is like pouring 13 pots of coffee into him... he does not go to sleep, he bounces off the walls like Ricochet Rabbit
I admit that my Ricochet Rabbit reference has probably told everyone my age, not to mention that 99.9999999999% of the folks here wont have a clue to what I am referring to.

I admit I know who Ricochet Rabbit is...sometimes I see the old cartoons on Boomerang.
I admit that I am getting too old. My joint in my shoulder where the collar bone joins the other bone, the ligament is kinda worn out due to DJD so I have to do PT to strengthen my muscles around it so I can function better (and not be in so much pain).
I admit I want a queasy bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles. Screw this damned diet.

Al Queda wannabe who took over a mosque in Finsbury Park, and who was left to run it as a recruitment hub for jihadists as the Met ignored the trustees asking them to do something about the situation as this guy seemed a bit off. He's inside now, as he was extradited to the 'States (over the al queda thing) the second he got out of jail over here. He might get out if the heat death of the universe happens before he dies, possibly.

Take the damn Zyban. It eliminates cravings. Of course, your lungs probably won't fully recover anyway. My mother in law smoked till her forties, and developed emphysema in her 60's. She's now dependent on oxygen and can't do anything that she used to enjoy

Zyban is actually another name for Bupropion, an anti depressant, and an maoi and thus not recommended to be taken by anyone on blood pressure medication, which I am.

strike one

Bupropion is also linked to onset diabetes, and complicating the treatment of anyone already diagnosed with diabetes.

strike two, I am considered borderline diabetic and control sugar with diet.

Bupropion is also known to have adverse affects in people with bipolar disorder and PTSD

Strike three.

Now, as for the health risks associated with smoking, while there is a causality link there, it is not 100%, hence the key word 'may' in all warning labels.

I agree that smoking is not good for you, but then neither is eating lots of red meat, drinking excessive amounts of caffeinated drinks, or for that matter breathing the air in 90% of the heavily populated urban areas around the world.

When you consider the chemical toxins you are exposed to on a daily basis, the ONLY way you can be assured to live in a non toxic atmosphere with near zero risk is somewhere so far removed from civilization that the atmospheric contaminants from modern civilization falls below 100 parts per million.

Which, unfortunately is no where on the planet outside a sealed habitat.

Someone called into cspan the other day and told her story that she was able to get off opiates by taking 500 mg magnesium twice a day. She said she ordered them from www.lifeextension.com Her point was... why aren't doctors prescribing this to their patients who have drug addiction issues. She said she didn't have any withdrawal issues. You might want to look into that.

I don't think nicotine is an opiate, sadly. I think the way they act on the brain is supposed to be pretty similar, but their effects aren't, and I don't think they're very similar chemically.
(That said, I don't think taking magnesium can cause nasty side effects the way some of the currently fashionable megavitamins, and the tablets are pretty cheap, so it might be worth a shot anyway.)

I admit I know a good bit about this topic:

Nicotine is not an opiate, Nicotine is a potent parasympathomimetic stimulant and an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants, which means it is related to potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, tomatillos just to name a few.

Of course it is also related to Jimson weed, mandrake, deadly nightshade, and petunia

Now Jimson weed (aka locoweed) can be used to make a hallucinogenic tea, which properly used is not so bad, improperly used, it will prove fatal, so best not to make it, although idiots looking for a cheap alternative to hallucinogenic drugs go this route a lot.

Mandrake, when prepared correctly can prolong a man's staying power for hours, but alas, most times the preparer knows not what they do and ends up giving the poor guy endless hours of pain, madness, hallucinations and usually death.

Deadly nightshade is just that, but with the added benefit of hallucinations before death.

Never heard of anyone doing any thing with petunia.

And truthfully, it is not the nicotine that is the cancer causing agent in smoking.

It is the tar (and all the other shit the tobacco companies treat tobacco with to keep it from going bad) which is a residue from burning plant material. In fact you will find it in chimneys from burning fires to keep warm (yes folks, that is the same shit you are putting in your lungs,) along with CO2, Formaldehyde (used in embalming fluid,) and a lot more stuff.

Now smoking pot gives you the same tar and co2, but none of the other crap, so it is not a 'healthy' alternative (especially with some of the shit they are treating it with today.)

Now the current vaping craze does eliminate most of the tar (not all of it) and almost all the chemicals (actually all of the chemicals if you buy raw, unprocessed tobacco and make the oil yourself) and delivers a higher shot of nicotine per inhale.

But honestly, you are still inhaling a poison from the nightshade family.

All that information which should prompt one to put the damn things down and walk away has but one result.

Give me my fucking smokes and a cup of coffee and I may let you live to see noon, family blood or not.

Actually Deadly Nightshade is Belladonna, Italian for Beautiful Lady, and once used by women to dilate the pupils. It's still used as an effective way to examine eyes, but without the major risks that women took back then. It has various properties used in medicine, primarily Scopolamine and Atropine which are used for analgesics, and, anesthesia, as well as the eye job. However, it's main job is for slowing down the heart.

Now what really surprises me, you being a military man, and all, is that you don't know that in cases of chemical warfare, nerve gas attack, Sarin, Tabun, Soman, etc, the autoinjectors you'd carry would contain Atropine as a kind of antidote

Henbane is also a member with over 12 species, with Black Henbane being mostly used for medicine. It's used for Mercury poisoning, a sedative, pain relief, and to help treat morphine addiction.

I'm afraid I don't know much about Petunia other than one particular species is used in medicine, from the top of my head, but it's getting late here, I've had a hard day, and this one doesn't come easily to mind, so would need more research to get my facts straight

Needles

I admit I am knacked big time...

I admit UM is a lovely lil one but jeeesh...she doesnt quite grasp the concept that 4-6am is bedtime...NOT jolly party time...

I admit I will be off today to a patchwork course with my sewing maschine...not quite sure that I will fit in there with my knowledge but heck...in worst case scenario it was a mistake to get on there today but I will still give it a try...

I admit it, it said to have sewing or patchwork experiences...well...I have a bit of sewing experiences...just dont know if it will be enough for her in that course...lol...but anyhow, it will be good to get that little bit of me-time for a change I guess...

I admit the snow is finally melting here, thank god...

I admit I am not a snow person and this january and half of february we had way too much snow for our likes....so it is refreshing that the sun comes out...

I admit in march sport (PT and Crossfit) will finally start again for me but my coach still makes a big deal out of it about how much of a deal it will be to build me up for sports again after that cesarean...but annoyingly doesnt spill the beans about the restrictions which he will put on me in the beginning...

I admit if he wouldnt have had at least 3 others in my situation last year I would say he doesnt spill it cause he hasnt got a clue himself yet...but I know that this isnt the case...

I admit I guess he just wants to avoid me to moan already ahead of the sessions with him about the boring re-start this year...

I admit I was naive to think I could just continue again with the sport where I stopped it before her birth...

I admit originally I also expected a 6 weeks break before her delivery and 6 weeks afterwards...and in reality it were now 6 and a half months

I admit I am exercising patience with me as after all I am happy about my little bean here, as of course, she is worth it, but nevertheless...I just want to continue to throw the weights around at Crossfit in the way I used to do it last year...but it seems thats not gonna happen until may or so...hrmpf...will wait and see how it goes in march but am better prepared for a rather boring start at sport...

I admit my coach also said yesterday that I have to tell him next week what my doctor told me about working out again (if I may or may not start again yet) and not to tell him what I would want the doctor to have said...(so not to tell him the doctor said it is fine to do so when it isnt)...hrmpf...come one, after all the wrong diagnoses they gave me in regards to my lil bean here I cant trust them when they claim I wouldnt be ready for sports...cause that certainly would be wrong diagnosis again...but anyhow...as my tummy wasnt that huge actually I know I will get the green light...so I will certainly start again in march for fuck sake...I am sacrificing enough now that I am not allowed to take part on the crossfit games workouts...*sulk*
