(Pass the eye bleach, please... )

I mentioned this on another thread but upon consideration decided that the news merits its own thread

New York Times alters Clinton email story

7/24/15 4:58 AM EDT

The New York Times made small but significant changes to an exclusive report about a potential criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton's State Department email account late Thursday night, but provided no notification of or explanation for of the changes.

The paper initially reported that two inspectors general have asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation "into whether Hillary Rodham Clinton mishandled sensitive government information on a private email account she used as secretary of state."

That clause, which cast Clinton as the target of the potential criminal probe, was later changed: the inspectors general now were asking for an inquiry "into whether sensitive government information was mishandled in connection with the personal email account Hillary Rodham Clinton used as secretary of state."

The Times also changed the headline of the story, from "Criminal Inquiry Sought in Hillary Clinton’s Use of Email" to "Criminal Inquiry Is Sought in Clinton Email Account," reflecting a similar recasting of Clinton's possible role. The article's URL was also changed to reflect the new headline.

As of early Friday morning, the Times article contained no update, notification, clarification or correction regarding the changes made to the article.

One of the reporters of the story, Michael Schmidt, explained early Friday that the Clinton campaign had complained about the story to the Times.

“It was a response to complaints we received from the Clinton camp that we thought were reasonable, and we made them,” Schmidt said...

DOJ asked to probe handling of Clinton's emails: NYT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department is weighing a request by two government inspectors general to open a criminal investigation into the possible mishandling of classified information in Hillary Clinton's private emails from when she was secretary of state, according to a report in the New York Times.

A Justice Department official confirmed the department received a criminal referral but gave no other details. The Times said the department had not decided whether to pursue a criminal inquiry, citing unnamed government officials.

The Times originally reported that Clinton herself was a target of the criminal referral. It altered its report on its website overnight without explanation to suggest she was not the focus of the referral after all.

In a memo early on Friday, inspectors general at the State Department raised concerns about the handling of classified information in the emails and the adequacy of the classified network used to store and distribute the emails from Clinton, sent while she was the nation's most senior diplomat.

The memo does not directly accuse Clinton of mishandling sensitive information. Clinton is the leading Democratic contender for the 2016 presidential election.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement she "followed appropriate practices in dealing with classified materials."

May not go anywhere though, as this DOJ routinely stonewalls if its perceived that a given criminal leans left

FR

So the Times once again capitulates and tries to change the narrative for a leftist criminal, and as usual the DOJ will show it's true colors and stonewall Congress to protect a Democrat... Have I got it right?

mnottertail -> RE: Hillary Probed (7/24/2015 10:50:14 AM)

Nope, like the GOP will protect and actually deify its criminals is what this is about.

The OP should be done for false advertising.

I opened this thread expecting to see a picture of Hilary Clinton getting her back doors smashed in.

What a let down.

She's not keeping her hair tidy for no reason, Sanity!

There's more to that woman than meets the eye, and I for one am always curious as to what these high profile women get up to behind closed doors.

She's quite an attractive woman really. How old is she? About 60? Looking good for her years.

What's going on with the Land of the Rising Sun behind her head?

Good to hear I wasn't the only one expecting that. But at least we understood that the thread was about hillary and not the gop so that has to be a point in our favour right?

bounty44 -> RE: Hillary Probed (7/25/2015 5:20:04 AM)

have you seen her public response to this? her demeanor and her language are kinda creepy in a way...

she talks about "lots of inaccuracies" and "maybe the heat [meaning weather] is getting to people"

the short of it as I understand is, a handful of emails in a relatively small sample of the many thousands were found to have classified information in them. given that, its possible (likely probable) there are hundreds.

whats more---the questions been raised about the security clearance of all the team Hillary minions who supposedly went through the thousands of her emails...

Lucylastic -> RE: Hillary Probed (7/25/2015 5:53:36 AM)

For Clinton critics, the dispute over the paper's handling of this news item still obscures the larger problem, which is that as secretary of state, she used a private email account that could have compromised sensitive government information. Indeed, lost in the back-and-forth Friday was a Wall Street Journal story that detailed how several emails containing classified information made it into her inbox. The information wasn't classified at the time, but rather received the designation retroactively.

At least four emails Hillary Clinton kept on a private server during her years as Secretary of State were classified “secret” at the time, according to an inspector general review — a finding that calls into question her assertion in March that she took care to avoid sending classified materials.

Just sayin

hot4bondage -> RE: Hillary Probed (7/25/2015 6:35:03 AM)

So far, 4 out of 40 were classified as secret when she received them. She lied about them repeatedly, kept them at home, then destroyed them. If she ran a pawn shop like that, she'd be in deep shit. Instead, she'll avoid the issue until this becomes "old news" and just another part of the vast right wing conspiracy.

now thats a subscription page, but according to sources out today
the information goes as follows

“None of the emails we reviewed had classification or dissemination markings, but some included IC-derived classified information and should have been handled as classified, appropriately marked, and transmitted via a secure network,” wrote Inspector General I. Charles McCullough in a letter to Congress.

Lucy I have felt that anyone who disagrees with Hillary is either bullshitting, lying, or wrong according to her or her supporters. Makes one wonder h ow so many can be 100% wrong.

Lucylastic -> RE: Hillary Probed (7/25/2015 7:08:15 AM)
