If they get angrier, will they start lobbing rockets into Israel?

Will they start financing terrorist attacks against the US and Israel?

Will they conduct frequent suicide bombings in street markets?

Michael

All already a regular hobby for Muslims.

Perhaps just worry about the next 9/11.

So lets do every damn thing we can do to keep it going...this not smart...in fact just plain dumb...another bad decision based on politics, pleasing his radical right supporters, rather than reality.

Sometimes Israel is wrong and needs to be told... this is wrong...at least for now... What would Israel do if we did not recognize Jerusalem as their capital.... tell us they did not want our billions of aid... yea.

Butch

Just another demonstration of how religion poisons everything.

Israel did this? I thought OUR government got to decide where we put our embassies?

Pro tip: Israel has claimed Jerusalem as their capital since before there was a "Mohammad". We just decided to recognize it as such, today.

well it affects jews christians and muslims all together.
so your gloating is is for naught.

In your howler cartoon imagination I was gloating?

Tell us what else is happening in there. Do you see Christians and Jews going insane with hate and rage like Democrats and Muslims normally do over every little thing

yes, gloating, and you did it again.

actually...do they?... could Russia then decide they want an embassy on the grounds of the CIA for instance?... or maybe a cubbyhole in the White House... make communications a lot easier with the lackey.

You're venturing into the insane, now, Butch (while moving the goal posts, again, at the same time).

The Russians have embassies in New York City, Washington D.C. and (I believe) they have at least one more in California.

To the best of my knowledge, none of them are located near a "sensitive" area. My memory's bad, these days, but if I remember correctly, the one in NYC is on 67th Street.

I think the one in D.C. is on K Street (but it's been a while since I've been to D.C.)

The "grounds of the CIA" aren't in DC, by the way. They're in Langley, Va.

No I am trying to show with satire the obscurity of your post... at least in my opinion. I don't expect you to agree of course and we will just have to disagree.

There was nothing "obscure" about my post. President Trump made the decision and announced the decision, today.

I'm sure Israel "lobbied" the last four presidents to make that move, but the ultimate decision was with us. So WE DECIDED. Therefore, this could not be an instance where "Sometimes, Israel is wrong".

That's like saying, allow Nazis to keep gassing Jews.

Chances are, back then, if you speak out against Nazis or attack them for it, they will keep attacking you too.

I cannot understand the pacifist solution when we are dealing with evil.

Except there is more Muslim in numbers than Nazis to deal with. So yes this is a way more complicated Evil. At least Nazis were mainly islanded in Germany back then. And today, we are fighting 1.6 billion in numbers scattered all over the universe.

And it's gonna be a tough battle to win.

(Define winning? When all Muslims convert out of Islam and recognize it as not a positive way of life to follow. Just like it's a win when a Nazi stops being a Nazi.)

You should know after my posts on the issue over the years that I am pro Israel and far from a pacifist. Doing this just gives our enemies more power we will have to defeat with American lives... senseless. Just because I am for the defense of Israel does not mean I think they are right in everything they do... This capital crap is wrong... the settlements are wrong... the type of retaliation to terrorists is often wrong and counter productive... the lack of negotiation is wrong. But I do believe in Israel's right to defend itself... making Jerusalem the Capital at this time is not defending but instigating.

Yes it is absurd in my opinion to even mention embassy in this discussion as a reason. see my post above.

I'm still a little confused. It's "absurd" to mention an embassy in a thread about Palestinians, burning American flags because America is moving it's embassy?

Yeah. That seems absurd.

Let me repeat: Israel has claimed Jerusalem as its capital at least as far back as the time of Christ.

We didn't "make" Jerusalem the capital. We "recognized" (because that's a BIG word, in the Middle East) it as Israel's capital.

It would be similar to us, winning the revolutionary war and France saying: "Of course we will begin diplomatic relations with you. Your capital is Philadelphia, but even after you move it to Washington, D.C., we will keep our main embassy in Philadelphia."

Which is exactly what we did to Israel. When they were able to recapture their capital, we refused to recognize it. That's kind of a snub, really.

At least three previous presidents have promised Israel the US would recognize Jerusalem as their capital. This is the first one to keep that promise.

Elections have consequences an' alla dat!

Repetition doesn't make it true.

At "the time of Christ" the region was a province of the Roman Empire (capital: Rome).

When the modern state of Israel was founded in 1948 the capital was Tel Aviv. Jerusalem was a divided city until 1967. There is still no peace settlement, and the status of Jerusalem is still disputed since then.

btw Christians there are protesting too - more than a third of Palestinians is christian.

Well, no. The Hebrews claimed Jerusalem as their capital. The Roman Empire was an occupying force, but Israel still considered Jerusalem their capital. The Roman Empire (kind of) agreed since that is where their governor was based.

Yes, Israel was not in physical possession of Jerusalem for a long time, but they still claimed it as their capital.

No repetition necessary, except to those who dig in their heels.

Well, too bad, there was no "Israel" then, and for a long long time before and after. Jerusalem was also claimed as capital by the crusaders, and their Kingdom of Jerusalem btw.

You're absolutely right. That's why I didn't say "Israel", in the first part.

At the time of the Roman occupation, the Hebrew "nation" was split. "Israel" (Samaritans) was in the North and Judah was in the South (where Jerusalem is).

Mexico claims California, too. Along with Texas etc

And Mexicans here have been known to riot and rage if we refuse to cater to their whims
