I'm an explorer at heart. If someone were to ask me to describe myself with only a single word, I'd have to say "explorer." As such, I usually welcome any chance to expand my knowledge of people, things, places, and ideas. I may not like what I'm exposed to, but at least I'll have some experience with which to base my ultimate conclusions and decisions upon. In relationships, I would hope that those involved would have open minds with respect to each other, at the very least. That's the only way I feel that relationships can grow and survive. I also used to think that about online discussion boards, but over the years, I've learned that many who participate do so solely for the purpose of expounding their own knowledge with little regard to the other participants' points of view. They have no intention of opening their minds for any reason, but in some cases, do expect that the others open theirs. I generally avoid the threads in which there are participants who show those traits, for the thread will eventually breakdown into a struggle between two or more immovable minds. That's no fun for me as a participant. Having said that, I've found myself inside threads which, in the end, ended up leaving me with a nasty taste in my mouth; both here on CollarChat and elsewhere. When these times do come up, it reinforces within me the need to not be among the first to participate in a new thread, but to wait it out to see how others will play in it. Sheesh... can I ramble or what? [... returning to the purple sparkly bar for more enhanced coffee beverages ...]
