A good way to deal with the alone time is to do something active.. esp with your hands.

Do some Yoga.. or a dance workout to your level of ability. It will get your mind off of it... get the blood flowing.. be good for your heart.. and your sense of peace. If you do this about 5 times a week you will be able to sleep much better, and be more relaxed.

Take up knitting, or some handicraft. With your hands busy they will be less likely to want to occupy them with a cig. A big part of the addiction outside of the chemicals is the repettive comforting motions. You get so used to doing them that you do it with out thought. Find something else to do with your hands.

Journal, or as above knitting/handiwork.

As you prob. have been told when the cravings and need come on strong.. take deep breaths... Count 4 in, 4 out. Go outside and walk a bit if you can... do something phsyical. Break that cycle.

Xantax didnt work for any of the folks I have helped stop smoking. Sleeping through it will not stop it when you come off of the sleep. It is as much behavioral as anything else. I think that is where people fail to quit.

maybe you can find a support group locally for that face to face factor?

Savage, darlin, I quit smoking in 2004--I think. I always have to ask my ex how long it's been. LOL I did it while driving over the road, which was pretty difficult since I had so many ingrained habits about when to light up, etc. Iffen ya need some support, message me on the other side & I'll give you my phone number. Btw, I also have an anxiety disorder. If I can do it, so can you!!!!!

i hate that i have to tell my grown children to stay out of my bedroom so i can have some privacy and that i am NOT here to amuse them just becuase i have a day off. now locking the doors...why the fuck should i have to lock the doors in my own house i ask?

Maybe that's why I can't concentrate. At least you don't have to walk through a minefield of legos to get to another room in the house. Stepping on a lego can be horribly painful.
