I admit I haz a dilemma regarding a gift I have received from someone I don't know well. It's a gift that I can TOTALLY use, but I don't know the giver very well at all.. and it's kinda awkward. Two reasons: (a) I DONT know him well.. I mean, first name, he has cats, and that's about it; and (b) there is the cynical inner voice thinking "and what does HE expect to get out of this?"

I don't want to refuse it outright, because he seems to be a nice guy. and I don't want to NOT use it because it obviously cost some bucks!

On the other hand, I have no way to reciprocate (other than doing something minor, like making pilssbury sugar cookies or something), and I would feel even MORE awkward if I didn't do SOMETHING!

HELP!!!


I understand the inner voice thinking what does he want in return for this, but sometimes a gift is just a gift. There's been a lot of pay it forwards (at least in this area) going on in light of the season. Maybe you've possibly brought a little joy into his life without even knowing it. Ultimately a thank you gift from the heart would/should be acceptable(cost shouldn't be the focus nor should it matter). If it does then you know he had ulterior motives. Maybe, you could do the cookies with a cute little card (kitty of course) saying something along the lines of baked with some TLC (an example) or something appropriate for the level on which you know him.

Just my two cents....

I admit I've been chatting with a nice man and so far all is well.

I admit it's a nice surprise for the holidays as I sent him a message first.

I admit I need an interior decorator, so not my forte.

I admit my apartment looks like 'book nerd lives here along with art lover.' p.s. but needs maid service!

I admit the holidays = lots of hours of work 60+ a week.

I admit I want some rum balls and then some rum-on-balls.  (looks around)

I admit I left our christmas party today after the official part with mentioning the folks who work there since 5 and 10 years as I didn't feel like enjoying a meal there with my colleague on the same table...

I admit I changed my plans for tonight and wont write my applications....I will instead print off the job adverts and then write the applications next week when I am chilled and fit to do so...which isn't the case today where I am busy with loading my car and other stuff...

I admit, on the way home I lost one of my screen swipers....

I admit I realised one is lose but couldn't be arsed to get out of the car at that damn heavy rain

I admit my hope, that it might stay with me until I reach home, did not come true...

I admit I better get a new swiper tomorrow

I admit when I reached home there was a gift for me...

I admit I didn't give it much attention at first as I assumed it to just be christmas chocolate, but when I opened it later I realised its a pair of house shoes

I admit when I called mum she told me that she made them herself, which left me stunned, as I never expected them to be self-made

I admit I totally lubs them

I admit I wish mum wouldn't have put that idea in my head as it is sort of known by now that I can hardly resist buying books and wool when I lubs stuff

I admit I will copy mums book, but there are unfortunately more of it out there

I admit, though, for now I will not gonna buy it....
