I was watching Carlos mencia's stand up yesterday as I unpacked in my new place. i grew up with people who spoke their mind and called bullshit for what it was. I also grew up around adults who had no problem smacking their badass offspring upside the head in public. Anyway si was laughing at everything he said because its true. This particular stand up touched on Parenting styles today and like say 10-20 years ago, Terrorism, Racism and just all out stupidity in the world.

I say watch his show watch his stand up and realize that somethings need to change. Growing up in vegas it wasn't until high school that i heard the terms ADD and ADHD. My soon to be ex lil sister in law has ADHD apparently. I love this 11yr old but I have said time and time again, alot of it is bullshit on her part. She is a spoiled brat sometimes, ESPECIALLY out in public where her mother will barely yell at her. I have seen her get grounded and ungrounded that it makes my head spin.

I do agree with something else he said late in his show that had me laughing but also realizing that probably half the white people in the audience didn't laugh at.  Profiling is wrong but since 9-11 air travel is the one place where is should be practicied regularly. To qoute him in a round about way, "Allah to the side, everyone else go to your spots." But he also said when looking for terrorist on American ground we need to include a race of people who blew up a federal building in Oklahoma. This was his way of reminding people that not all danger comes from the outside.

He also went on about the lowering of academic standards through the years, from A to including A-, to blacks asking for racial biais(sp) to hispanics going on about the school material not being presented in spanish. I love his approach to treating ADD though. Fuck Ritalin. Send the Kids to Catholic School with that Bithc Sister Mary who hasn't seen a cock in ten years.

"Whats 4 x 4?"

"I don't know sister Mary I have AD*smack"

"Whats the fuck is 4 x 4? i don't have time for you bullshit and neither does God. If you don't answer in 5 mintues you are going to hell!!"

"Its 16 sister mary" It goes from there.

I know someone is gonna come after me but I don't care. It might be a real disease but it gets broadly applied  to too many kids and they now have an excuse to fuck around school.

I also agree that racisim and profilling needs to be applied to EVERYONE. White black red, blue it doesn't matter. Look at the jail population and tell me everything is fair. There are white people who do what blacks and mexicans do and don't spend nearly as much time in jail IF at all. We need to stop making excuses for other people and our kids. If your kid fucks up in school oh i don't know MAYBE its your kid and not the school. The PC era was the worst thing because people have stopped calling shit shit and truth truth.

As Carlos puts everyone is racial. Case in point the Dc Sniper situation. EVERYONE thought the shooter was white. Up until he was caught everyone was sure we were gonna ahve some ex military white guy gettign hauled off in cuffs.  Then it turns out the sniper is Black. WTF?! o.O But then his name is Muhammad then it becomes he's not a real nigga he's a sand nigga.

Kids today act up in the middle of the store and nothign happpens except they GET what they bitched for. Do you remember acting up in the store? Heck no? Why? because you got told before getting in the damn door, Don't ask for shit don't embarass me in public. Shit when i wa slittle if i had done that stuff i would have gotten my ass spanked right there in the damn store. Parents also don't ask "What Did You Do?" No their kids are ALWAYS the victim. They side with their kids without gettign the WHOLE damn story.

America is a giant game of TAG. There is always someone on the bottom of the totem pole gettign fucked by every on top. Sept 10. it was blacks and mexicans. Sept 11 The towers went down and Carlos and Tyrone went, "Fuck you puta you're it"  Now that said I have muslim friends. I lvoe them to death, but at this point in US, its their time to fucked with. Before muslims and 'sand niggas' it was real niggers, spics, cunts, twats chinks, krauts, beaners, wetbacks, tards, gooks, flips, japs pollacks,micks, midgets. the list goes on. at one point or another some race some nationality was at the bottom of the pole.

for every two black or hispanics in jail for drugs there is 1 white person. outside same ratio for blacks but it jumps to 5 white. See a problem? Its because the cop ration is scaled more towards black and hispanic communites. Of course more of us are gonna get nailed for drug related issues. If you are gonna profile, profile EVERYONE that means not giving muslims an excuse because extremists took out the WTC.

I suggest anyone who likes seeign bullshit being called for what it is, watch this particular wstand of his. If anythign here has offended you then take a moment to think about why it offended you. Is it because you read something that was true and you don't see that way? or was it the way its presented?

You have probably heard of this book; if not you might enjoy finding some answers to your frustrations. It's a rather old tome, by Robert Hughes: 'Culture of Complaint: The Fraying of America'. But many still find it relevant today (I find most of it is conservative whining, but that's just my irrelevant opinion).

A quote for you: "... We create an infantilized culture of complaint, in which Big Daddy is always to blame and the expansion of rights goes on without the other half of citizenship - attachment to duties and obligations... The emphasis is on the subjective: how we feel about things, rather than what we think or can know."

Enjoy...

Well, from what I've heard, it's not *his* stand up. His name is NED, and he's famous for ripping off other people's material.

So, whoever WROTE the joke may be right on, however, but it ain't "Carlos Mencia".

What an utter load of bullshit. I work in a jail in TX and I can tell you the black to hispanic to white ratio is always very close to equal, sometimes the whites are the slight majority. Our pods have 72 inmates. On an average night there is about 25 of each in the pod. We try to keep the ratios even and if there was a disproportionately large number of one race we wouldn't be able to do that.

Thats not the point FB. The point is its all true. People aren't real today. there is so much bullshit and it why we have hsows like Bill OReily. I mean coem on do we REALLY need a show to expplain the news AND give us an opinion on the news?

Geeky that might be true for where you are but that is not true for EVERY jail and prison in the US. Especially with the new mandaroty scentences on drug arrests.  I never said anywhere that this was statistic that I had looked up. Yes there are slowly but surely more white people int he prison population, but blacks and mexicans will still the majority

"Dee-dee-dee!"-----> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h0z6vkcY10 (for those with a short attention span)

I don't know who said it but it went something like this:

"I can't wait until we are all crossbred and become one race- that way we can judge people on their content of their character".

My god what a thought!  NOBODY could claim racism!

I can't say I saw the episode that you mentioned, but I love Carlos Mencia/Mind of Mencia.  It is one of the few things I watch on tv on a regular basis.  The man is just plain funny, and he makes a lot of good points doing it.

I can really relate to some of the OP.  Why didn't we have shootings in schools when we were kids?  Cause you'd be afraid that your Dad would kick your ass for taking a gun to school!  Sorry, but in a lot of cases, that's the truth.  Why doesn't that type of discipline work today?  Because state agencies, and fear of the same, have taken away the power of people to raise their own children.  The scenerio of acting up in public is a good one.  A parent almost can't reprimand their child in public, because all it takes is a 'good samaritan' with a cell phone to make one call saying you hit your child to get you arrested.

Like many things considered PC, we went entirely too far from the original idea.  We didn't want children being abused, so to avoid that, we went wayyyyyyy too far the other way.  We tend to forget that, punishing children, when they misbehaved, helped them to grow up learning that there was right and wrong.

The other topic is the race issue.  It's all goodness and light when we say celebrate diversity.  Unfortunately, when we actually acknowledge differences, somehow it's wrong.  I agree with one of Mencia's long running statements.  There wouldn't be stereotypes if there wasn't some truth to them.  Guess what?  Sometimes, our differences are funny, and it is ok to laugh at them.  The problem is, now were so worried about offending, and being offended, that we can't even mention them.

All this rhetoric about 'the good old days' being so much better than today is wrong. It wasn't better in the days when it was legal for a parent to beat their children senseless. Beating a child to instill discipline is famously counterproductive. Violence breeds violence, but you know that already, don't you, because you wouldn't slap a rude shop assistant in the face simply because h/she didn't do what you wanted.

Also... this whole bullshit about prejudice finding its roots in reality? Please.

So what you're saying is that you are pulling statements out of your ass with no evidence to back it up.

Show me national statistics that back up your claim that there are less whites in jail/prison and then I'll take you seriously. Until then, you're just making vague statements to lend credence to your whining about how unfair the confinement system is. I would bet you don't work in that system and have only second hand knowledge of it.

I would imagine that in predominatly black counties, most inmates are black. In predominantly hispanic communities, most inmates are hispanic. In predominantly white communities, the majority of inmates are white. I work in a very diverse county and our inmate population is diverse. I LIVE in a white community and guess what? There are only a very small handful of black inmates at the county jail here. Less than like 5% usually.

So until you find a statistic which compiles NATIONAL averages, your statement means exactly dick. You can't just make statements with no evidence to back them up.

What is disproportionate is the ratio of black people in the population in general, compared to the ratio of black people in the prison population. This can only be explained by poorer education and job opportunities. Texas for example has around 12 % black population, therefore you would expect the prison ratio to be the same.

Hi Lady Not For The Easily Offended is one of his stand up shows. Its out on DVD. And its true I mean my mother was from down south and when you fucked up what happend, your ass was sent outside to get a switch from the tree and go forbid you come back with some pussy shit that wouldn't hurt. plenty of people say Carlos is offensive....maybe they are right but if you are offended i say think about WHY you are offended. No se eI wil be the first to say I don't make friends based on race but i can tell you how many of my friends fall into each category. Everyone is racial to a certain degree and needs to admit it. When you talk about some that is around to another group who has never met that person do you immediately mention their race or only after some has asked what do they look like?  Many people do it without realizing they are being racial. Being racial is not a bad thing, because Racial and Racism are two differnt things.

As for seterotypes they are all true to some degree. if they weren't they wouldn't be stereotype. Case inpoint; I am black. I have had my hair braided for most of my life, i love watermelon, i love fired chicken and i can bbq with the best of them. Thats where steretype ends. I have an education and a job. my parents were married. I never was on welfare, I maybe do pot every now and then. i don't speak in ebonics and i didn't grow up in the hood. I was never in a gang and i listen to everything but country music. I am also a goth which makes me 'white' as far as most black people are concerned. My hair has been straightend and a handful of colors.

Everyone on this earth has oen or two things that makes them somehow apart of the stereotype. WE are our own worst enemy we makes excuses for those who don't need them and don't hold the proper person responsible. Everyday brutal killers try and escape death row because they are 'insane' or 'shcizo' or what the fuck ever. You know what? there are plenty of people liek that that have never EVER raised a hand to someone or even tried to kill anyone. You don't get a free pass just because your brain is wired wrong. Oh but my father beat me as a kid! They said the same thing about Hilter. I knwo alot of people on here are anti capital punishment but like the saying goes let the punishment fit the crime. you sell drugs? you should be forced to work with those who have been negatively affected by drug use by people in their lives.

You brutally plan and kill someone? right to the damn chair you go. If you mess with a kid, right to the damn chair that or barney for the rest of your life. Of course this guys is messed up in the head. this man brutally attacked, raped, tortured and kill several women. We are supposed to what? keep him in jail for the rest of his life? So he gets to live out his days gettign taken care of better tham most homeless people to remember each and every thing he did and get off on it?

Sorry got off on tangent. This really was supposed to be a semi lighthearted thread. Enough bullshit people.

And actually geeky if you had ben paying attention most of this thread is carlos' opinion. I don't pull shit from my ass and its not directed to ALLL crimes commited by the races because i am sure if you look at it that way yeah its a different statistic. I am talking about DRUG REALTED imprisonment.  53.7% of people in prison are in there because of drugs http://www.bop.gov/news/quick.jsp Now if they actually broke it down by race it would be more black and hispanics than whites.

im not gonna get into the whole ratio discussion, but I do love Carlos Mencia's show...and so what if other people write his material, I watch it cause its funny, not cause he specifically wrote it.

About the ADHD...I do truly believe that it is a real disese, and that some children benifit greatly from treatment for it. BUT....it is so over used as a digagnosis. It's become every parents excuse for why their children cant behave. (please dont tell me I dont know what Im talking about, If you really want to see my qualifications for saying this, feel free to message me privatly). Kids are going to be kids, especially little boys, who on average are diagnosed with ADHD much more often than little girls. Years ago, children spent a good bit of their playtime running around in the yard, up and down the street playing cops and robbers or cowboys and indians and building tree forts in the back yard or playing baseball in the streets. Girls and boys alike spent numerous hours outside running off all that kid energy (ever tried to follow a toddler around? Bet you cant keep up!) There actually was a study done where an olympic athlete was asked to follow a 4 year old around for a day and do everything the child did, the athlete was exhausted halfway through the day. Kids have energy, kids are gonna try silly things, kids need an outlet for that energy. Now, that its so dangerous to allow our kids to walk out their front door, and god forbid we play outside in the summer cause the sun's gonna kill us and there isnt any A/C in the back yard, kids spend all day inside watching elmo and playing on computers and video games. You have no idea how often I hear little kids come up to me and say "Im bored" when they are surrounded by toys. Kids expect to be entertained! I could go outside with a stick and a can and entertain myself for hours. So where do the kids expel all that pent up energy? Normally by doing things every parent sees as "bad" behavior. They wont sit still through dinner, and cant concentrate on school work, and run around the clothing racks in walmart. Thats all typical little kid stuff, doesnt mean they are BAD, means they have energy that needs to be run off. Send your kids outside and have them run around the house 10 times. Bet you anything it calms them down. Schools used to have recess, where half way through the day kids went outside and ran off the energy they built up during the first half of the day. Now they take out recess because the kids need to be inside studying for the damn FCAT all day. So at 2pm when little billy finally gives up holding in all that energy and decides to start building little footballs and flipping them at joey accross the room, he's automatically given a dose of riddlin.

These kids dont need riddlin, they need excersise!

~~~please, flame away~~~
I identify as a redneck. I was raised in south georgia, I love college football and country music, I wear boots and a cowboy hat. I own a pick up truck with a gun rack in the back. I go hunting and fishing and love getting muddy. I can change my own oil and swing a hammer with the best of them. I have a rather pronounced southern drawl and Im quite proud of it. I also have 3 college degrees, can hold my own in a political debate, drive a minivan, run a youth soccer leauge and a cub scout den. Im not ignorant in the least bit, but thats how most people veiw anyone who's a redneck and anyone with a southern accent. (To tell the truth its kept me from a few jobs)
I agree that the majority of people fit into one stereotype or another, but that doesnt mean they fit ALL of the stereotype.
if violence breeds violence, why werent those of us who grew up gettin our asses whipped and actually being afraid of consequences, the ones who were carrying guns to school?
fear of a consequence is a really strong motivator......now we are so worried about kids and their self esteem.......i say you can have your self esteem when you grow into a mature enough person to deserve it.....and i will still choose to call them the good old days......
Ok, so let's say I accept that more blacks are arrested for drugs than whites.
This can mean two things:
Cops are utilizing racial profiling and hence more blacks get arrrested.
or
Drug use is more common and accepted in the black culture than in the white and hence more black people do drugs.
My best friend is black and works in law enforcement. She says drug use is MUCH more "common and acceptable" in black communities than in white communities.
Heck, you yourself just admitted to smoking pot!
Carlos makes it sound like blacks are being arrested for drug use because of racial profiling. Maybe in this case, the stereotype holds some statistic truth??? MAYBE more black people do drugs.
And no, I'm not a racist. Like I said, my best friend is black. But she and I often discuss the cultural differences between blacks and whites. We don't hide from the subject. And she will freely admit that is some truth to some of the stereotypes.
i agree with GhitaAmati....Too much interefernce about health and safety ect, nice idea, but then we need to build safe places for kids to play.... Nowadays a lot of schools are reluctant to do sports incase the child gets injured and the parent sues.
Many behavioural problems get labelled where as in the past people would just deal with it.
