BSB, wish i could claim the idea as my own, but it was actually a martha stewart idea, believe it or not. halloween is still an up and coming concept over here. all the tv shows, it's bred a bit of a following. and of course the shops are all for it - candy is already out in droves. along with the christmas decorations. sigh. you guys aren't the only ones with the problem

e01n, you do have a way with the words and setting a scene.

Oh did you see the Martha Stewart Living magazine this month?  There is some awesome halloween stuff in there!

lol, get them thru the front of the garage, wander around said maze like sappa said, showing how people could be eaten, the spaghetti and grapes things, etc etc.... then take them out the back and show them all the headstones, with familiar names and bones strewn.

for munchies we had eyeballs in gore (steamed chicken balls with olive cutouts for the eyes in a bed of vy chunky salsa), gobline guts (that cheese/spinach dip in a cobb loaf), graveyard cake (ice cream cake with oreos crumbled on top, with little headstone cookies, and a blob of dry ice in the blood red punch. oh, and ice cubes with itty bitty plastic spiders in them.... that was FUN! i went as an angel, of course [:D]

Again, I find myself searching for the eloquence to say it and wind up digging up dead Romans...

As a hopeless romantic myself e01n, the best place to find the best eloquence is inside you. Speak from the heart and write your words on paper and it'll be as good as any dead roman. The heart will not lie and will always steer you right.

It just blows my mind that there are so many amazing men to be found in this one thread alone..  That was beautiful Bear..

Lumus -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 6:56:35 PM)

The last Hallowe'en party I went to was fun; although the fake shooting scared the people who were already plastered half to death...

I love my family's sense of humour. [:)]

KMsAngel -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 6:56:41 PM)

bsb, the mag is about $10 over here, so i vy occasionally get a box of 2nd hand ones sent over sea mail thru ebay. but since i just threw out hundreds of mags, and gave away all my old MS's and country living, i won't be getting more in any hurry

earthycouple -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 6:56:53 PM)

I concur BSB

e01n -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 6:58:20 PM)

Ah, but there are those times that you find yourself looking at the most "impressive" words you can muster and go back to seeing your linguistic inadequacies...

But yes, Bear, you are right.

And BSB, it isn't just the men...

Quite right, e01n. [;)]

And I know what you mean about writing.  It's a love/hate thing for me.  I get driven and the closer I come to finishing a piece, the more critical I get about my work.  Some of it just ends up in the garbage or recycle bin.  Most of the survivors, when I re-read them, get edited.  There isn't much that I'm satisfied with, and I tend to hold those pieces in suspect.  That was especially true of the last piece I wrote, a song for my girl abdi.

earthycouple -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:04:05 PM)

Yeah....you know...in reality I might have tried to convert him two months ago....but the sheer truth of it is I've not much want of anyone else lately...go figure.  I'm quite pleased with my submissive pushy topside *S*

I get the feeling you are quite the perfectionist and what you see as linguistic inadequacies the rest of us see as, WOW!

But yes, Bear, you are right.

And BSB, it isn't just the men...
*sigh*

*wanders off to sit with bear, looking thru the latest MS halloween edition*

earthycouple -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:08:49 PM)

BSB...you are correct about e01n.  He's much to critical of himself.  I'd beat it out but well...I'm too stuffed up to wield a flogger *S*

In all seriousness...he's amazing.  He's considerate and loving and way beyond thoughtful; I'm looking very forward to the day he's happy in his own skin and mind...*S*

edited cause i before e except after c

e01n -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:08:50 PM)

In this thread we have references to Martha Stewart and perfectionism, so I'll parrot her answer:

If it matters to you, wouldn't you want to make sure it's done right?

Lumus -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:09:06 PM)

When was the last time you tried to write a poem, ballad, or what have you, e01n?

[is nosy]

earthycouple -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:17:14 PM)

Lumus...methinks e01n's latest attempt at writing was most recent....I got mail on the other side and darned if I don't wanna cry now.....cripes...I don't giggle, I don't blush...but I cry, that's for sure.

e01n -> RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh! (10/1/2007 7:20:11 PM)

Lemme see...

The last writing project I had was doing a gonzo food journalism blog that quite frankly sucked so much ass through a straw that there are no donkeys in Terre Haute any longer... That was aborted in July.

I've lost pretty much all interest in fiction. I still keep my hand in NaNoWriMo yearly, but that's more out of principle than ambition.

The last poem I had published was something not very good in "The Flying Island" - a "local" poetry mag. I think Clinton was in office then...

The last one I attempted - 3:12 am this morning. Interrupted at 3:13 by someone snuggling up to me with Her snotty nose.

I *DO* still have outlines and proposals for my ambitious cookbook project living on my HD and in my card file - my goal was to write full and legitimate pitches for cookbooks, one a month.

But I know my poetry enough to let others say it for me with much better results...
