Status: offline 		progressing apace, dear Bear. mostly a matter of going from room to room and either packing the little things away, or storing them for packing in the car. i'm getting there, slowly but surely. sigh. had my bloods  done this morning, go to the dr tomorrow to find out if she's gonna be a beast and cause my license to be suspended. i'mprepared to beg if necessary, and if she pushes me to get on insulin, i'll even do that, though i'm not happy about it. sigh. i might try and log on at the uni tomorrow to sob or cheer!

Status: offline 		Okay, eoin being that I work in the design and construction feild I have very strong opinions about such things.  The fabric idea on the walls...be careful with this as ceiling and wall fabric coverings are typically allergy magnets...course if they are removable it they can easily be laundered...but then do you want to have to do those as well?

No windows in the rainbow room?    Daylight is critical to a sense of wellbeing.  Test scores, reduced illness and more rapid healing and higher productivity are key atributes of rooms with some daylight.  Ideally you want difuse even daylight.  Can you add a solatube or some such? 

Linoleum is okay...make sure it gets sealed well or it will stain.  Marmoleum (forbo) is the brand that is specified and prefered by those in the know.  The other option is to look at cork...inherently fireproof, sound deadening, insulative and allergenic.  It also tends to have a lovely radiance when installed and sealed well that can really make a room have a lovely warm glow. 

As to bamboo...Home Depot does have a floor that comes in at less than $2 per sqft (not including adhesive and toe molding - I just used regular toe instead). It come prefinished.   It is a very good deal...if you are interested in lookeing into this I can dig up the name brand they sell it under.  I installed it in one of the bathroom remodels and it really is beautiful.  But it would have no sound absorbing qualities. 

And of course I let D know about interface's carpet tiles (FLOR) which are really quite lovely, versatile and great with kids and possible messes like um wax perse.

8 ft ceilings?  20x? size room?  The footprint of the room exagerates the lowness of the ceiling.  If you add some movable partitions or even change off color palette to purposeful areas it will help give a loftier feel to the space.  for instance shift color scheme in one corner turning it into an office area or suspension area or whatever suits you and so on.   The track lighting can also be rearranged to spot light areas breaking up the visual space some.  Of course keep the ceiling white or lighter than the walls and flooring.

As for your closet sound proofing...the first pathway of sound is in the same places that air travels.  Look for any air leaks or path ways and use "great stuff" (foam in a can) or rigid insulative blue board and seal any and all wholes with calking.  As for insulation....it only works if it is not mashed or bunched up anywhere and it must have contiguous surface to surface contact with the inside wall cavity surface.

Okay...take it or leave it....but you now have my professional opinion. lol.
