Evening, bear.

It's with a guy names Faramir on the "Are BDSM folk more closeted than the gay community?" thread. He'd said that gays have legal protection, and I (being a gay guy) said, "Let's not get carried away. There are still 31 states where you can be fired for being gay," a fact I'd learned from a law professor's column (to which I linked) in the Blade. He says no, no, no, ever since the Supreme Court overtunred the sodomy laws, it's been illegal to fire gays in the U.S.

I suspect it really pisses him off that anyone, let alone a gay sub, dares contradict him.

That same issue also happens here in Canada, dc. Even though we have the right as common law hetero couples and are able to marry in all provinces, we still can and do get fired because of who we sleep with. case in point, I was let go from a decent paying job in 2001 because I am gay and the sad part was my former employer was able to use the system to his benefit and left me out in the cold!

I haven't read the entire thread dc, but from what little I've read, and the synopsis laid out here of the type of discussion you were having, I feel for you as well. I had my share of headbanging in the thread I referenced earlier.

After a while, there's no point in trying to continue the discussion. Both sides just have to agree to disagree, provided the discussion stays centered on the topic of the thread and doesn't devolve into personal bashing.

Obviously some folks can spout their "knowledge" from some kind of castle that floats in the sky (meaning they read what they want to), instead of laboring on the ground in reality. This F can't know what you know. No way. So he's got his opinion based on experiences that will never come close to your reality. I can't muster empathy for those who can't empathize!!!
