What do you use for safe words?

bipolarber -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 6:47:04 AM)

We generally use the "stoplight" code... yellow for getting in over my head... and red for stop.

In the past, I had the safeword of "lawsuit!"

mnottertail -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 6:49:15 AM)

LOL!  I would like to adopt that one.. tooooo fun [:D]

Zarius -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:04:18 AM)

There's another one we use in our group. This is due to one dom's large feet.

Toes!!!!  He tends to step on toes when he hooks up a sub to a cross or other piece of equipment.

*LOL*

RCdc -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:12:17 AM)

We don't use them.

Mystress allowed the use of "tampon", with the full knowledge that
a well used "tampon" could be cause for dismissal.

I like the stoplight code also.  Whether it gets used or not depends a lot on the submissive you are playing with.  I have played with those that never got anywhere near yellow, let alone red and each time I checked in with them, they were doing fine.  I've also played with those who...it seemed...I had barely got started on with one certain implement and was hearing yellow already.

Jill805 -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:19:11 AM)

Red light

chrome -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:21:11 AM)

Edge and Mercy work well

chellekitty -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:26:23 AM)

OWWWWW is not a safe word....

and "Bitch" and "Bastard" are compliments...

i usually use red and yellow because i typically only play in public and they are easy for me and the Tops i play with to remember, and if i am playing with someone new and the Top doesn't respect it the DM knows that it is a safe word...

treehugger42 -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:27:50 AM)

I don't have a safeword, but I wear a "safety bracelet" to take off if things get too intense or I'm hurt... the idea being that eventually we'll play without it, so I can simply not wear the bracelet, rather than master giving me a word that I might still try to use even after I don't have the privilege.

i have found that i safeworded when the energy was not flowing between me and the Top...nothing to do with the implement...because if you take a look at my back...there are scars aplenty from the play i have done...but i have also called red to end a scene because it hurt so bad 10 minutes in....

deziray -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 7:41:59 AM)

I do not employ the use of safewords. Instead I rely on his good judgement to know what is harmful and what is not.

"Master, I think that white thing is a bone sticking out."; means slow down. To account for the inability to speak, a signal is used for 'STOP' such as detachment of a limb or arterial bleeding.

beth hasn't needed to dominant me by using either thus far.

azropedntied -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 8:00:10 AM)

That depends on who i am doing and exchange with .Some need no safe words , others the traffic light  is used .Still other s an object is used like a small stuffed toy or  foam red ball . If say you or the partner is in restrictive bondage  or mummification and gagged  the ball /toy is dropped with the understanding that they need some kind of help or to STOP all things as determined prior to the exchange .I have done heavy exchanges where if the ball was  released it ment  were done , others it ment whoa a sec then go on .Safe words only work when respected , on both sides . I have known stubborn  subs/slaves who think they can just power through and tough it out , no shame in calling yellow or red if you hit a mine during the exchange .Same goes for the Top side RED MEANS STOP  not ooh yer fine  let s keep going .

TotalState -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 8:03:19 AM)

Stoplight code here, too.  Green for "I'm ok, you can go harder".  Yellow for "if you go harder, it will be too much".  And red for "too much!".

We mostly use green and yellow, if anything.  But I am getting pretty good at gauging how hard to go with other means, including just reading body language.

Tigrita -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 8:08:43 AM)

Okay, I'm going to reveal exactly what a nerd I am here.  For a little while, my safeword was pharate (fare-ate), it is the pupal stage right before an insect comes out of its cocoon, i.e. 'get me the fuck out of here!'.  Yeah, I'm a scientist, I work with insects.  We don't use safewords in my curent relationship

MasterMataeo -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 8:31:27 AM)

i usually  make the saffe word a colour,, and only to be used when things are getting to the point where the slave/sub is feeling that they are getting in over there head,,,
the misused of safe words,,, can lead tot he dissmissal of ones service,, for they are really there for ones safty ,, hence the name,, and any misuse of them is treading on dangerous ground with most of us lifers

missturbation -> RE: Safe words (11/6/2007 8:37:45 AM)

Sir and i don't use safe words.
