Were you often caught with a book and a flashlight under the covers well after bed time?

This one is true

But as one of those morons in the Safeword thread who is a hopeless newbie according to the brilliant assumptions of some of the geniuses who posted in this thread....I don't think it counts for much

I don't think I'm particularly more intelligent because of my involvement in this particular lifestyle.  If I were really intelligent, for instance, I would've had a splint ready for when I broke my arm from patting myself on the back too much.

Just curious.

Having a college degree doesn't necessarily mean you are smarter. In many instances it proves you aren't.

I had a prominant professor once say "how interesting that bdsmers so advanced that they have time to make up new ways to be sexual".
That comment was what prompted my kink aware therapy thesis! I think that when you live in a society where there are specific sexual expectations that going outside of them to find bdsm relationships tends to take something extraordinary. For some of us its intelligence and self knowledge, for others its rebellion.

In general, i think that if you average out the intelligence levels it'd look about par with society, but with more on either two extreme and fewer who are just average.

Sweetie, I was simply curious. And people who claim that earning a degree actually proves that a person isn't smart are actually just jealous.

I'm kidding.

Doesn't say a whole lot for those General Electric engineers back in the 90s who designed the microwave that required a $150 two man service call to change the lightbulb.

That depends. Was GE getting the 150 bucks?

It's key to remember that this is a self selecting group- dorks and idiots don't last very long because we just happened to form a core values based on discussion.  I've been tossed out of a few kinky online discussion groups because I dared to challenge the status quo and have actual discussions rather than paying lip service to the stereotypes of the scene- there are LOT of people who really just want the "easy" psycho drama way of life.

Online discussion groups are made of people who have computers, have time and money to go online regularly, have the skills to type and respond on a fairly good level, and on collarme at least, can hold their own against some tough cookies.

That's not at all a good slice of life to consider a real sample.

I'm afraid kinky or Ds relationships require no more complexity than any others, and there's no evidence to suggest kinky people are any more or less intelligent than non kinky people.

In fact, due to my observations of there being a much higher percentage of fatter people and smokers in the scene vs not, I'd say there's some evidence we're more stupid and self destructive.

i went from high school to married to pregnant, the great american triple play.  or as i like to say it "at least i got them in the right order!"

i tested out at genius levels in high school...and my greatest ambition was to be a mama.  i think so far i've done an ok job at that.

edumacation doesnt necessarily mean you're smart or stupid, neither does IQ indicate whether you have a lick of common sense or not.

my late Sir used to say i could out-think him with the flu and a full dose of nyquil on board....Daddy can keep up with me pretty well.  i dont think intelligence levels have anything do to with anything, other than bragging rights.

me, i'm happy being who i am for the most part.

i already said that...but mine was shorter....do you have a verbosity kink?

edited to add: just kidding...if only i could get you to talk this much in r/l....i am thinking about just printing out screen shots of the the first 3 pages of every message board the next time i see you....

Just read through enough of the threads on these boards, and you'll find your answer. Some bright people, but plenty of intellectually challenged here. Of course, we all THINK they're intelligent. Same as everybody else.

So, not to ask any of you to brag, but do you consider yourself to be above-average in the brain department?

I do not consider it bragging, just a fact, I am close to a genius, but not quite one.

When you were a kid, were you the one always making up the games that everyone on the block would play?

No, I had no other kids living around me but all my much older siblings, they made the games and the rules (scratches head, perhaps that is related to my submissiveness)

quote:

Were you often caught with a book and a flashlight under the covers well after bed time?

No, I was obedient and went to bed when I was told to go (submissive again?). I was considered a bookworm. Books never hurt my feelings, or complicated my life.

I do not think that lifestylers are more intelligent than anyone else...

Are kinky people smarter........mmmmmmmmm.....

After many hours spent reading these forums, if it is any sort of cross section of general kinky population, I have come to one definate conclusion.

HELL NO!!!
