Good fiction is always taken from real life...and expanded upon to give it universal appeal. You write good fiction.

I can tell you from my own experience that your story is more universal than a comedy skit about Star Trek or an attractive Lady in 5" heels.

In the past, I've been elected to various boards, everything from my co-op association to local government.

Audiences at meetings of such boards tend to be composed of people who have come to complain about something, and a smaller number of "watchdogs" who are fairly sure the elected board members always have a personal ulterior motive for whatever decision they make. Why else would they go through all that trouble to get elected if they didn't have ulterior motives?

After many a meeting, I often felt like the character in your story: used, and not in a good way. I'd sit in that coffee shop thinking: why do I put up with this abuse?

Yet, just as in your story, every so often, someone came along who made it all seem worth the trouble. One such fellow button-holed me in the lobby of town hall after a meeting and simply said: "I know you're trying; thanks for that much."

It wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement, but it was just enough to make me feel, as your character put it, "...that the few make the masses worthwhile."

I, for one, would appreciate a disclaimer when a work of fiction is posted. I was actually fooled into thinking this was a summary of an actual event for a good 7 or 8 paragraphs, so I'm feeling just a little bit duped. Perhaps I should have gone out to your website before now so I would have had a better understanding of your style rather than taking your post at face value. I'm, sometimes, gullible that way.

That said, the subject matter itself is a good topic and, of course, it goes both ways. There are as many dominant personalities looking for a quick fix to their kink as there are submissive personalities. In and of itself, that's not a bad thing as long as folks are compatible. In any public venue, you take your chances on your audience and research into the location, who you are presenting to etc will go a long way to alleviate this sort of issue.

Himself and I were given a chance to do a presentation, and after doing research on the group, checking their credentials, their affliations, we declined. It wasn't our cup of tea so we didn't go there but wished them well in finding a suitable presenter for their venue. No harm, no foul and no bad feelings on anyone's side.

An ounce of prevention and all that ...

Truth be told, I kinda zoned out halfway and imagined the subs were zombies...

"Must...eat...brains..." replaced with "Must...grovel...gwauauauaua..."

*pictures limbs detaching as they slither in debasement*

That was how I knew it was fiction. Not bad fiction, but fiction nonetheless.

Aakasha, once again, you prove that you need to be collected, published and distributed. The fact that you mirrored reality so well in this work, and that so many of us took it for a non-fiction memoir, only shows off your command of storytelling. Do you ever talk to Cecilia Tan at all? Your stuff is exactly the sort of thing her Circlet Press is often looking for. Lord knows I'd buy a few copies... one for myself, and several to send to friends.

I normally don't read long posts, but hers had me riveted. I enjoyed it. It's good to be duped once in awhile.. it keeps us humble

The fact that she did fool some of us bodes well for the author. I could see the faces of the characters and felt their personalities. Ya gotta admit..she's good :)

I'm not surprised. You read these forums for awhile and soon you begin to realize that maybe, just maybe this site does not always attract the keenest of intellects.

How else can you account for post after post...Thread after thread of...."My Dom hasn't talked to me in over a year....Do you think that there might be a problem?"

Of course some folks might find value in this thread.....I dunno, I could never figure out how "White Castle" managed to stay in business....There is no accounting for another's taste or discretion or lack thereof.

I've had the same things happen to me when I've spoken at public BDSM gatherings about being a sub.

So many Dommes arose asking "What would it take to be your Domme Griswold?" and "Sir Griswold....I love you and always have....I offer my complete fealty to you" whereupon I responded...."please...you needn't call me Sir....a simple bowing when I enter a room or a reasonable amount of genuflection would be sufficient"....

Nope, I've had the pleasure of meeting a few.

However, I guess I take the BDSM groups I have been around for granted, because the vast majority of have been a mix of down to earth, realistic, and cool people.

I can easily see one or two people, but a whole group of these characters was a little far fetched for me.

But...hey...I'm willing to chalk it up to lack of experience with silly groups of people.

I would imagine Cleo Dubois is about 52 (http://www.sm-arts.com/faculty/cleo.html). Perhaps in your twenties, or even at age thirty-two, 52 seems ancient, but I while I am 59 (the main picture on my profile was taken last year), I am here to tell you that 52 is not old and yes, I still like to dress up, sometimes, even when I wear my strap-on.
