I will admit that I have not read all of the thread, and it is none of my beeswax anyways, nor do I want it to be. I will send light her way, and I hope she gets better.

Quick reply to all:

Is she bi-polar, or mentally retarded?  If she is bi-polar and has all of her mental faculties, she VOLUNTEERED  for this type of behavior, and shouldn't bitch that the person she submitted to woke her up at an odd hour.

If she chooses by her own free will to submit with a disorder - it was her choice.  He shouldn't have to pussyfoot around worrying if she is too fragile to wake up early.

If her situation is so delicate - she shouldn't be in this lifestyle.

My advice again - to the curb.  Maybe she'll think about it before she submits again.

Dude, I do not know why you have such issues with this submissive you do not know, you sound very angry.

I sound angry because my print is so large.

It does amaze me, however, that no one thinks the woman involved has made a unsound decision to be in this lifestyle with a mental disorder.

And I was also astounded that someone would suggest a "safe" word to get out of waking up early.  That dilutes the use of safe words so much it is just unfathomable.

"Dude"?  LOL!

i too, was in a TPE and had no safeword.
i DO understand what a slave is, i have been one for a long time now.
but to expect a human to react like a real "puppy" and wag their tail at the opprotunity to go for a run at 1 am with you is immature and thoughtless. slave or not, she is a person (with her father staying with her!) and i am sure has many resposibilities (more than a real puppy,at least) and a lot on her mind.
does she work outside the home?
is she a mother?
is she the primary care-taker of either of her parents (or yours)
is she the chief cook and bottle-washer?
how about a student?
puppies do not have these kinds of things on their minds at 1 am and are more than happy to run in the snow with you, but a HUMAN is a different prospect altogether.
owning a person as a pet is just like owning any other kind of mammal.
you cannot treat a cat like you would a horse or a hamster like a bear. or vice versa.
each species has its own special needs and desires and to try to make them adapt to the manners and attatude of another species is unrealistic.
i am a tiger.
just because i have stripes does not make me a zebra. if i am treated and fed like a zebra it will NOT turn me into one. what it WILL do is make me miserable and starve me to death.

Im Californian..Dude is rather a common term here.

If she had a sleep disorder, would you think she should not have some sort of respect for her issue? Sleep disorders are more common than you think. Did you know that a valid defense in court is that a person is awakened and goes balistic, injurying or killing someone under these circumstances is a legal defense.. because some people do not wake up right away, even though they seem "awake".

Sleep walking is common in my family, I have done it once myself. I used to have conversations with people while asleep, eyes open and everything. The last time this occurred was when my son was first born. My son would awaken, I would feed him and not remember having done so. My husband would get very angry with me the next day... I guess I said terrible things to him that I have no recollection of... should I be held responsible for that? He held me responsible, even though to this day I have no memory of it.

So before we go unloading on someone, we should make sure we have all the important facts. Mental illness is something that can be controlled, and if I loved someone that was mentally ill I would do all I could to help them get well. I do not think my loved ones are easily discarded. Perhaps a submissive is not that valuable to you, that is cool, but I would hope that I was valued more dearly than no attempt made at all on my behalf...

He surely should have known this information before getting involved with her, and if she kept it from him, that is unfortunate. I have one family member that has suffered from mental illness, and it is a very sad disease.. but it is a disease.

OMG, I thought he was joking. I took it as a hilarious send-up of what a Twue Dom would say.

One would assume CD that you would not get into a TPE situation with someone that has an untreated mental disorder and would not condone another for attempting to use that dynamic in lieu of therapy and medical treatment.

You would assume rightly then, laurel.  I've stated before that I am not a qualified mental or behavioral therapist.  If you have a problem that requires that you need that sort of therapy, I would help you get to them.  If those problems during the course of a relationship, I would help the person I am involved with get to them.  I would not try to use the structure of the dynamic or arcane rules and regulations to control behavior or mental disturbances that calls for much more qualified personnel and may call for medication or even, hospitilization.

Erotic,

In my view, you might use a bit ofself reflection on timing.

TwiztdErotic -> RE: open for response until 7am est (11/30/2007 8:22:44 AM)

I can always use a bit of self reflection, although timing may not be the biggest issue. From what those who have a better understanding of the disorder have said, what I am looking for may never be possible with her. If that is the case, I'll need to examine my priorities and proceed from there.

DesFIP -> RE: open for response until 7am est (11/30/2007 10:53:17 AM)

Sleep deprivation is a hard limit for me. I get bitchy when deprived of sleep. I also need more sleep than he does. However if he doesn't get enough sleep for him, he gets paranoid. He freely admits it. My oldest, who is bipolar, suffers from a lot more panic attacks when sleep deprived.

It's a health issue. Read all about it.

However if she normally needs 12 hours sleep to feel well, then she ought to be assessed by a doctor. Sleep apnea, allergies, medication side effects, depression, etc are all possible culprits. But of course taking care of her health isn't nearly as much fun as punishing her for a medical condition.
