I completely get this - totally.  But as an aside - would you want them to change their flaws once you are with/commited to them?
There is a method in my madness in asking this and I might start a thread on my thinking - but I just wanted to ask you as you mentioned the attraction thang.

I know this was asked of IrishMist and not me, but since my answer echoes hers, I thought I'd answer this one, too.

I love all of him; even his "flaws," even those things that would normally turn me off in someone.  Even if I hate it at the time he is doing it, I still love that it's a part of him.  I'd be interested in a thread about this, and hope you create one.

Well I know MR cannot be talking about me, because I'm not friendly and nice nor do I pretend to be.  [;)]

But yeah, those people like to say "should of", "would of", etc., when they really mean "should HAVE", "would HAVE", etc.

Just saying.

What repels me?  Someone who always thinks they're right... who can't look at things from more than their point of view... who doesn't take what I have to say or the experiences I've had seriously.  I have to respect someone's mind before I can respect them as a whole person, let alone enter into an intimate relationship with him.

I learned that myself the last years. I mean, i try to look at all things done from several sides now. It makes a lott of things clear. I used to judge everything from my own view. Now even bad things can look logic if you think about it.

How do you seperate someone who is convinced they are right from someone who just thinks they are right but eventually may open up to another view? Is there a point where you can see that it won't work?No more hijacky thoughts after this one heh but my brain just tracked over.

Yep.  I think it's an age thing.  The older I get the harder it is for me to pick a side in an argument.  I tend to at least be sympathetic with another's viewpoint if I respect that person.  Makes voting more difficult, but overall I think it makes me a better person.  [;)]

I'm not sure if you're asking me or Justme ... but the only way I've found to separate people into "knows they're right all the time" and "thinks they're right, but will listen to opposing POV" is in the time spent with them.  Only time will tell whether they're willing to crack open their minds to listen - I can only bang my head up against the wall so many times before I give up.  But occasionally someone will give a hint of openness which gives hope - 'hmm, I hadn't thought of it that way' or 'do you think?  why do you think that way?'  I rarely ask people to change their POV to match mine.  I speak my mind and if you don't agree, so be it.  But please, respect the fact that my POV comes from my intelligence and experience, or else we're never going to get anywhere!

@Camilla
You only discover that when you talk with/him her. It is mostly in the answers. People open for discussion give arguements, people who are stuborn tell nonsense in the end or get angry (and mostly respeat themselfs instead of giving new views).
If it really doesn't work to explain soemthing, they propably not interested in you and the issue.

domiguy -> RE: We have all answered this question (1/15/2008 9:09:37 AM)

The op doesn't like someone who jokes around . I don't appreciate people who ask redundant questions.

Don't think we will be breaking bread anytime in the neart future.

camille65 -> RE: We have all answered this question (1/15/2008 9:12:09 AM)

But IMO if you give enough time or try long enough it may work. I just can't quite find the ending point lol. Yes Bound2One it was to both of you, either of you. Anyone lol. It's been an ongoing thing with me, when to realise/how to realise that are those happiest locked in.[sm=dance.gif]'Slow learner'[:D]

What repels me.. Well, my Daddy sometimes can be really mean to me. REALLY MEAN. And I hate it [:'(] Also, sometimes He says really awful things, which make me really sad. Saying things like "If it weren`t for you, I would still be beating up people for money and I won`t be starving".[:(] But He says such things on rare occassions, thank God! It is his disablility to express feelings.  I sadly say crap also in fights, although I am working on it.

Wow.  Good thing for you it's a "rare" thing.  That kinda remark, "if it weren't for you, I would..." (be doing something better, be someone better, have more money, whatever), would get a swift kick in the arse and a shove out the door.
