Man Critical After Being Suspended From Ceiling At S&M Club

NEW YORK -- An unidentified patron of a Midtown S&M club who was bound and suspended from a ceiling while wearing women's high heels and a neck choker was hospitalized in critical condition Friday, police sources said.

While an accident is the most likely cause, police said they are investigating whether he was the victim of a crime. Officials said a preliminary check showed that the club is a legal business.

One law enforcement source said this incident appeared to be an accident because the man apparently had consented to the treatment. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, police started an investigation, said an NYPD spokesman.

"Detectives are investigating whether there is any criminal culpability with the operators," said a police spokesman.

The man was found about 1:30 a.m. inside the East 33rd Street club known as Nutcracker Suite and Artistic Innovation, wearing his pants but not carrying any identification, police said.

He's listed in critical condition at St. Vincent's Medical Center, said police sources.

Detectives are trying to determine how long the man was left alone once tied up, sources said. He was discovered in apparent respiratory distress after a club worker checked on him as he was suspended from the ceiling and noticed that his hands looked blue, a police source said.
Attempts to reach the club were not successful.
The law enforcement source said that the club's staffers were cooperating with the police and told investigators that they had checked on the man in regular intervals after he had been bound and suspended

That was a very dangerous and stupid thing to do to someone. I bet there is going to be some charges filed.
I wouldn't like to be suspended like that either especially without my CONSENT!!!!

Im thinking maybe that being unconcsious didnt agree with him , waking up in the hospital, has to be a hell of a come down and a mental barrier to doing it again.
Just glad for the guy that he didnt shove off this mortal coil.

I notice the word consent gets thrown around a lot, as if the other imortant factors are nolonger considered...
Ok he consented... safe?...sane?... he ended up in a hostital... I think not...

And Shame on the Domme for not caring enough to be safe, while he was bound, suspended...

And even if he asked to be left alone.. common sence would be to ignore such a request, or at the very least leave him BRIEFLY.. while consistantly checking on his well being.

I'm sure his 'trust' has been tainted as well, which just puts him off from experiencing a Good session, where he doesn't end up hospitalized.

Isn't it a tad sad to call a man who was in critical condition at one point, and possibly ill used or looked after to get into that state, a wuss for having to publically say he was seeking help for his proclivities.

He may well have had to go public after the story of his "accident" hit the papers in the hopes of mitigating thae damage done by being outed as a kinkster in the press. People are always banging on about not wanting family, friends and co-workers finding out about their kink, how do you think this poor sod feels right now?

Not only does he go through some form of hell whilst suspended from a ceiling and basically ignored long enough to become critical, but now has to deny all that he is because of it. Personally i feel sorry for him, and would be wondering just what happened at that establishment, that such a thing could happen to a patron using some of their equipment, consent aside.

And yes, it might be a shame that another good club or venue hits the skids, but if this can happen in a supposedly regulated space then maybe it should at least be temporarily closed until all the circumstances are known, and steps put in place to make sure something like this couldn't happen again.

One wonders what would have happened in the worst case scenario.

Worse case scenario is he would have died or been permanently brain damaged, and the "Domina" would be sitting in jail pending charges.

Criminal negligence in this case is (as far as I am concerned) leaving him unattended and unmonitored. When I worked Bizarre Theater (NY 80's) no customer or actor (yes we did fetish skits as well) was left alone for any length of time. There was always a monitor with anyone who was suspended, bound or restricted in anyway for safety sake and quick release latches were used.

This club may close, or not, a lot will depend on whether they had good insurance and have a good lawyer. NY constantly tries to close down the clubs, but they always crop up again. It seems to be a cost of doing business in NY.

As for our dear Victim, I suspect he is praying his wife doesn't divorce him, take the Bank Accounts, pensions and Apartment/home and his employer terminate him (in fact I wonder how recent his retirement was). I wouldn't have expected him to do anything else other than put out a denoument against his ever being involved in BDSM again.
