Indeed.  As with the case of the majestic giraffe, it may take a large heart to circulate enough blood supply to a far-distant brain.

Might want to work on that.

Ya.  Cardio is good, but too much steady-state cardio combined with dropping your calories too low or not eating often enough is an absolute killer of metabolism.  Your body adapts to steady-state cardio as well as to caloric deprivation by dropping your metabolic rate through the floor as it activates your "thrifty genes" in a conservation response to what it has evolved to interpret as life threatening famine.  You will lose lean body mass (muscle tissue) before your body gives up precious fat stores under those circumstances.

HIIT (high intensity interval training where you alternate running as hard as you can with walking and jogging) for two 10 to 15 minute sessions a day, or lower intensity interval training (alternating walking and jogging) for 20-30 minutes once a day is fine for your cardio.  Do HITT if you can, basic intervals if you can't.  You spend much less time running like a hamster on a treadmill and your body does not have a chance to adapt as it does with steady state cardio.  But if you have time only to do either weight lifting or cardio in a given day, then lift and screw the cardio.  Cardio is good and you should definitely increase your general level of physical fitness and activity, but for body sculpting it's definitely the weights you want.

Regular weight lifting is your friend, since it signals your body to keep your lean body mass and keep your metabolism high, and burn your fat.  Focus on full body, compound or multi joint exercises like squats and presses, not small movements like bicep curls.  If you're a woman you should still be lifting like a man.  Don't worry, you won't bulk up, and that *is* the right way to accomplish your body sculpting goals even if it seems counterintuitive.  Most women aren't willing to knuckle down and do the program, preferring to stick to dainty feminine exercises, and it makes it much harder for them to get results.

Eat protein and eat it 4-6 times a day.  Add some slow burn carbs in the morning, tapering the carbs off towards the evening and slightly raising your fat intake.  Eat a big ass breakfast.  Have a grapefruit with Splenda, some oats or whole grain cereal, and some scrambled egg whites or Egg Beaters - that's carbs, protein and little to no fat.   Have a midmorning snack of a hardboiled egg and some yogurt, or a slice of whole grain bread with turkey ham, mustard and thin slices of apple.  Lunch can be as much green veg or salad as you like (easy on the dressing there) with chicken, fish or lean red meat, maybe with some almonds sprinkled over it for crunch.  How about a bowl of cottage cheese with a couple of berries as your afternoon snack, or maybe some luscious salmon spread (nonfat cream cheese and salmon in a blender with some garlic and a dash of lemon or lime juice) on thick cucumber rounds?  Or maybe half an avocado with a creamy dressing.  I like nonfat mayonnaise and balsamic vinegar with a dash of garlic.  We're starting to drop the carbs here and add healthy fats.  Red meat is good for dinner if you can get a nice healthy source for relatively lean cuts, but you can shake it up some and enjoy meatless entrees as long as you keep the protein high.  Pile on the veggies and drop the starchy carbs, unless your workout is planned for after dinner, in which case you can enjoy a sweet potato with cinnamon and Splenda.

Eating healthy isn't as hard as it seems, and you really don't feel deprived on a diet like that.  There are many good ways to combine healthy, nutritious foods to fuel your body for exercise and fitness, and you can tweak around with your percentages of protein, carbs and fats at each meal depending on what your goals are for the next three hours.  If you need to fuel for a hard workout, you want carbs with some fast digesting protein (like whey) and no fat.  If you need to stay full and nourished for awhile, you want to drop the carbs and stick to good quality slow digesting protein (like meat or casein) and some fats, preferably the healthy kinds of fats you get from fish, avocados, nuts and olive oil.

My heart is sufficiently large. It's even in the right place.

I'm flattered that you consider me majestic. :)

I have never felt that weight or any of the BS society places on people to be determining factor. Sensuality is an attitude not a dress size. Proportion can be a factor but attitude is everything. As I sub I have served a mistress with "a few extra pounds" and she was fantastic.

Being slim doesnt make you a liar.  I think THAT is an unfair accusation.  The reality is that most people gain 2lbs per year after high school.

Lets give a little credit for those who are able to fend off the desire to eat more food than they burn.  I try to keep at a hwp weight and it is a constant challenge.  However, the challenge of doing so not only keeps me in shape, but keeps my spirits happier and my mind clear.

Lets not take the easy way out and pretend that being 30, 40, 50 lbs overweight is not an issue.  Its not just about looks, but lets face it, physical attraction is important....a sound body begets a sound mind...

And yet there are many reasons for people to weigh more than they should and I am not talking glands, though yes the thyroid can contribute to that problem. My mind is sound, I usually sleep well, and rarely dispositioned to depression save at the anniversary of my sons murder, memory is good, still capable of learning and retaining information, there are a few kinks in the system but over all, pretty damned good for my age.

My body is not. Asthma, COPD, Balance Problem due to an inner ear problem, Diabetes, dead Thyroid (take hormones for it), Cystic Ovary and Kidney Stone Prone, Neuropathy in the gross muscles of my thighs and feet (calves are great). I walk 1-2 miles a day with a 140 lb (he is not over weight) Akita that thinks all pit bulls are to be eaten on sight, no longer smoke, exercise and attend PT.  I weight 175 lbs, 35 lbs over prime weight. My average daily calorie count is 1500 and I have to watch that closely as I am diabetic. Protein and Veges over carbohydrates. Weight should just be pouring off of me. HA! Almost every medication I take has an effect on weight, including insulin. It took me 10 years to go from 275 to 175 and it required constant vigilance and work to do so.

How I look, pleases both me and my Master and damn well better please any sub I take. Would I like to lose more, hell yes, but that does not mean that my appearance right now is not physically attractive to a great many people. It is well proportioned and while it could be tighter, I am working on that for my own health to counter the neuropathy, not some ideal promoted by fashion designers and Dr.'s since the 60's. Before Twiggy and her emaciated look, men looked at women like Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe, Mae West, and Marlena Dietrich all voluptuous women, and dreamed and drooled.

So yeah I will give credit to those who starve themselves for an ideal. More power to them.  I will continue to try and burn more food than I eat, and recognize that it may be impossible for me to lose those last 35 lbs. But I will continue to be happy with myself and my image of myself, and I won't buy into the must be a size 0 to be beautiful ideal that every magazine and tv show seems to promote. I look great at an 18, and thats good enough for me. If you don't find a Zoftig woman attractive, consider she may not find your skinny body attractive either. I hate breaking paddles on bone.

I do know that being underweight can have serious mental affects on a person. If you starve yourself your mind can't function as well because it will lack sugar and energy to do anything. I know that a person that is too thin may also discover their body starts to eat itself -- I wonder if it will start to eat the brain or shut down parts as well.

My point is that thinking that there is a cause and effect between being weight and being "sound in mind" is a bit iffy. I think, like with being underweight, you'd be talking about extremes.

We know lots of Mistresses that are heavy set and some of the slaves really like it, especially if the guy's into Queening, smothering, trampling, baby fetish, Mommy fetish, BBW, etc. There's nothing wrong with it if the Mistress feels comfortable with Her weight and if a slave is into it that's great for both. Haven't you seen a fertility Goddess statue? Women are meant to be all curves!!

And for Mistresses and slave who want to diet We offer them a fantastic diet that really works.

Just a little report ... today I did My second strength workout ... very slow, very much beginners exercises, but at least I went up from 5 reps first time to 6 today LOL! Master is supervising Me to make sure I do them right and safely. Once He is over His bad cold, He will do them too. Master and I have switched to a new eating plan, eating more breakfast and main meal at lunchtime, eating 3 small snack meals after that, so eating 5x a day. Feels good, I have more energy ... and it's also easier to home cook a nutritious dinner in the middle of the day as I am not so tired. Still trying to organise getting a treadmill at a halfway reasonable price to make the cardio exercise a little easier to do here. The dogs think I'm nutty if I start doing internal laps of the house! And they keep licking Me to resuscitate Me when I'm down on the floor doing crunches LOL!

The meal plan has an added bonus ... deciding what to eat has been a bit of a sticking point between U/us in terms of Domliness vs being considerate and concerned for diet and health ... to implement this new plan, Master told me to make up 2 weeks of menus, ensuring they were appropriately balanced from all the reading i did ... He checked them out, okayed them, reserves the right to substitute for Himself if He really hates the idea of something at a particular time. All is sweet! THANK YOU Najakcharmer!!

Good, but I would suggest dropping the weight to something you can comfortably do 8-12 reps with for 2-3 sets.  You probably don't yet have the tendon and bone strength you need to do a powerlifter's low rep workout, so you want to start with higher reps.  Not ridiculously high, but in the 8-12 rep range.  There will be a place later on for 4-6 rep sets, but the beginning is not that place.

Good on ya for committing to eating smaller meals 5X a day.  MUCH better for your health, fitness, energy levels and fat loss.  Keep'em healthy and reasonably balanced, with fresh minimally processed food and no junk.

Keep up the good work and do post an intro to the alt_fitness list!

i don't think it's a limitation per say not to like fat people, , just a preferances and their right to have one, however I do agree, they do not have to go spweing their preferance all over any one who'll listen.

Having a physical "type" that you are unable to transcend for the sake of deeper attraction to the inner person seems like a pretty serious limitation to me.  But really, it's the context for the discussion that defines the difference between a "preference" and a "limitation".

"Preferences" are about saying "yes, yes please!"

Whereas "limitations" are about saying "no thank you".

Chiming into a thread like this with a negative remark is NOT a positive way of expressing your preference--it's about yelling "no".  Even when no one asked ya!

It's as silly as chiming into a thread about music with an attitude of moral superiority because you're tone deaf.

I just don't get why people think their limitations are so fascinating.

I'll say this in regard to this thread.  For me, it's the person on the inside that counts the most.  The more I talk with a woman, the more attractive I often find she becomes; sometimes to the exclusion of all others.  There have been women I've barely noticed at first glance that have had me mesmerized upon having a conversation with them.

With that said, it's important to me to be with a woman who loves and accepts her body regardless of how much she weighs.  One who's embarrassed by being seen undressed, being touched, or has hang-ups about her body not being "perfect", will destroy the intimacy we might otherwise share.  I personally find that very frustrating when it's the love between us that matters and her imperfections aren't of any consequence to me if I care about her enough to be with her.  And after all, being human and having lived to reach 50, I have plenty of my own imperfections as well.

Further, I make a regular effort to stay in relatively good shape.  For a man who just turned 50, I feel pretty good.  I also greatly enjoy being active with numerous indoor and outdoor activities such as taking camping trips, long walks with the dog (will have another soon if you're wondering), hiking, cycling, canoeing and cross country skiing.  A woman who doesn't stay in reasonable shape (not perfect or excellent, just fit enough to be able to participate), isn't going to be a suitable match with the active lifestyle I enjoy.

Of equal importance to me is that I'd like to grow old with the woman who becomes my Mistress.  If she doesn't take care of herself by eating a proper diet and staying active, she's going to be at a higher risk for numerous medical complications and isn't as likely to be with me for very long.  I'd really hate to see that happen after finding a woman I loved and wanted to serve.  I watched my best friend die when he was 51 from complications of having diabetes simply because he didn't have the self-discipline to follow his diet and take care of himself.  It was a terrible thing to watch as he slowly killed himself.  His kidneys shut down causing him to go on dialysis, he went almost totally blind and eventually the doctors started chopping off body parts before he died from sepsis.

That brings me to my final point.  If a woman doesn't have the self-discipline to watch what she eats and maintain her health through some kind of an active lifestyle (other valid medical issues aside such as overactive thyroid problems), how can I possibly have confidence in her ability to take control of our relationship and various parts of my life?  The obvious answer to me, is that I can't!  Again, I don't expect perfection, or anything close to it, just a reasonable effort by a woman to care for her body and the ability to accept and love it for what it is.  If she can't love her body and is insecure about it, I know from experience I'll never convince her otherwise.  We all have our insecurities, but that's not one I'd hope a domina would have that I might eventually want to serve.
