This article pretty much speaks for itself.

cyberdude611 -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 1:09:50 PM)

Imagine if John McCain belonged to a church where a pastor screams about hate and anger towards blacks.....he wouldnt even be a candidate.

So why is it that when Obama belongs to a church where a pastor screams about hate and anger towards whites.....the media gives him a free pass?

So much for a fair media....This election is a sham and a joke.

Gwynvyd -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 1:41:06 PM)

Well of course it is acceptable it is Obama.. remember.. he is the Golden boy.. if he sneezes they clap and cheer. If people in his camp attack Clinton well it is just people from his camp.. not *him* and they are just "concerned" If people in Clintons camp.. or any body any where ( not even confirmed from her camp) well it is just her being a monster and underhandedly dirty.. doing anything to win. I mean wow.. what a bitch.

*rolls her eyes*

The press has already decided who they want.. why even bother to vote.. we all know it and see it.

What a load of shit.

Gwyn

Remember Gwynvyd, They didn't want Bush in 2000/2004 either and all tried to show he had no chance... yet reality still prevailed.

Do you mean to imply we all dont have a kindly old uncle who spews hateful racist comments.

Depends, do you base your ideologies on that "old Uncle"??? Or just listen to that old uncle rant, nod your head and walk away?

20 yrs later, Obama isn't walking... seems counter intuitive to suggest Obama doesn't agree with his pastor.
I know for me, I don't go to a church where I don't agree with the Churchs doctrine and the Pastors teaching.

Do you follow people you don't agree with?

This isnt his uncle....

If the people you hang out with start talking racism, hate, and hate for the country....chances are you are not going to hanging with them much anymore. That's psychology 101... People tend to affiliate with people they feel are like them because it verifies the self.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:14:24 PM)

I am not a religious person. But it my observation that people might still attend a church while not believing or agreeing with everything coming down from the pulpit. For example, many catholics might practice birth control even though the pope tells them not to.

I'm sorry, but a rational fair-minded person sees this kind of attempt to defame Obama for the crap that it is. You can't hold person A responsible for what person B says or does.

And even if you had that tendency, Christian Republicans have certainly cut folks like 700 Club's Pat Robertson plenty of slack over the years. I recall Robertson saying San Francisco should be attacked by terrorists because of the gay people that lived there. No one had to answer for it then and they don't have to now either.

A lot of people who attend churches are like that-they go to maintain appearances-but you should see what they do the other six days of the week.

So what you are essentially saying is, Obama only does things in hopes it will get him votes?
Sounds like the weak kid in high school who only did what he thought the "cool kids" wanted him to do in hopes they would accept him. That is called WEAKNESS.

Sorry, but the person I vote for will stand on their own merits, not the merits of what they hope others will think of them. That person will be mindful that they are running to be elected to run a country, the greatest nation EVER, without apology for being great, without hinderance of trying to appease everyone.

Doing the right thing is rarely the popular thing to do.

Perhaps you might consider going back and retaking psychology 101.

SugarMyChurro -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:24:42 PM)

The person you vote for will be a corporate cocksucking asshole. It doesn't matter who you vote for. I recommend you vote for McCain because the next four years will be a total clusterfuck fixing everything Bush did wrong.

This thread says more about the people defending its logic than about its apparent subject.

slvemike4u -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:26:45 PM)

Did no one else hear Obama dismiss these remarks by implying that we all have "old uncles" prone to saying outragous things.Personally i don't have one ,but if i did i do believe i would keep my children away from him,for fear his distasteful beliefs would rub off on them.Yet Obama refuses to repudiate this man and his views instead he makes feeble attempts to rationalize and make light of what in any context are disturbing viewpoints....sorry if my original post was confusing

sub4hire -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:30:01 PM)

This is old news.  Obama boasts about his church on his website.
Easy enough to look it up.
www.tucc.org
It says it all.

Not to say Hillary or McCain is much better.  I still don't know who I will vote for.

Interesting how you are attempting to turn this into an Anti Bush rant when it is CLEARLY about Obama, and should be a serious issue for Obama's camp.

Speaks volumes about your perspective of things.

Sanity -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:33:39 PM)

Worse than that, Obama seems to think that the cool kids to hang with are the ones who hate whites. No, if he didn't agree with that Pastor's rantings he should have completely avoided the "teachings" spewed forth in his church. Obama's church. Why go into a den of hatred for twenty years - I'm sure that Sugar would have a completely different opinion had this situation been reversed, and it were a more Conservative figure attending to such a hateful congregation.

The president in this country is appointed not elected.  He is in fact appointed by people who themselves are appointed by a group of people who are appointed for us to choose the "lesser of two evils" from.  But then I am sure you knew that already.

the greatest nation EVER,
I suppose you should define what you mean by the greatest nation EVER.

without apology for being great,
Without apology for enslaving millions.(blacks)
Without apology for murdering millions.(native americans)
Without apology for withholding suffrage from half of its population.(women)
Without apology for wars of aggrandizement.(too many to name)

without hinderance of trying to appease everyone.

Doing the right thing is rarely the popular thing to do.

Prick up your ears for this, it's a big secret:
This thread is about the views of Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.

Everything else is guilt by association bullshit. And I've already commented on that.

Zensee -> RE: Interesting Quotes from Obama's Pastor (3/14/2008 2:37:15 PM)

Of course if Americans would just get over their fetish for putting people who believe in fairy tales and invisible daddies, in positions of supreme power, the rantings of holy rollers on either side of the coin wouldn't matter a whit.

Talking to invisible friends should be cause for disqualification, not celebration.
