One of the more amusing aspects of the controversy that led to the speech was hearing the Rev.refer to the fact of Obama being raised poor by a single parent. How the man delivered that line while keeping a straight face is beyond me.Did it not occur to the man the single parent in this case was Obama's white mother(not to mention the grandparents)Am i alone in finding it ironic that the REV..for the purposes of what he thought was a good line would completely"whitewash" Obama's upbringing by dewhiting his childhood(not sure dewhiting is a word but it works for me)

Just know that one is known by the company he keeps. I've yet to hear him address the preacher who refereed to his mother as "white trash".

(edited to correct the link)

Why should he respond to this racist preacher from New York? It has nothing to do with his church and is certainly not someone whose company he keeps.

He insulted his MOTHER.

But once again I ask what does that have to do with "the company he keeps"? Also if he responds to everyone who insults his parents and grandparents that is all he'll do from now till election day or haven't you seen fauxnews or heard rush?

We'll see if his words match his deeds.

This is the quote that you were referring to?

"Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home. Barack was," Wright says in a video of the sermon posted on YouTube. "Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary! Hillary ain't never been called a 'nigger!' Hillary has never had her people defined as a non-person."

How do you respond to this type of post and remain within TOS?

Where does rev Wright say that Barak's mother was not white?....If you are a white kid and raised by your mother and her parents does that mean that you are not raised by a single parent?

This is the kind of shit that quite frankly pisses me off. What difference does it make what color the mother is if she is in fact single handedly raising a child or children?

Just from reading some of these posts it is evidet that many hold Barak to a different standard then they would if he were not black. I know it is a double edge sword. But let's say that McCain was only raised by his mother....Wouldn't he have been raised by a single mother?....I never realized that by having a mother who was white made up for the lack of a father figure.....%#$@@@?*&!!!!!! and you can go %$#$#@@#$?*&!!!

Yes, he did.  And Obama would be well within his rights to pound that pusillanimous preacher into a grease spot on the ground.

But that jackass is not Obama's pastor, and isn't even affiliated with Obama's campaign.  He does not speak for or to Obama, nor has Obama received even the tiniest of teachings from him.  He's just another moron waving a bible in front of a TV camera and calling it religion.

Wright's an issue because he was Obama's pastor up until his celebrated retirement, and for no other reason.

The point remains.. it doesn't matter WHO insulted her.. what sort of character does a man have that doesn't address the issue.  It was said publicly and should be addressed publicly.  I'd bitch-slap the rev in a heartbeat.  I wonder why he didn't refer to his father as "black trash"?  He abandoned the child, left the mother to go take a few more wives..and he was respectfully refereed to as an "African American MAN?"  In my book, a man has a sence of responsibility and ethics.  Obviously Obama got his from his Mother.

Why the out-rage over  blacks who are angry over the way they were treated?

the tuskegy thing is real. it HAPPENED.  the drugs sold into the community HAPPENED.   i dont know about aids, but to disss someone for  thining the govt did some bad things,  it is pointless.

Obama is a man who can lead the USA.  Being from a hard past is an asset not a liabilty.

No one likes when one group is "in your face" over past treasgressions.   I dont.  But nor do I fault those whom feel that larger society treated them as non- citizens.

I like Obama, I like Hillary.   Mccain is bush light.     If Obama cant clean up bushes mess- it is uncleanable.

But tuscegan was REAL- drugs the US govt PUT into the minority commuinty are/were REAL.

dissent is good.   thats how America came to be.

I dont fault these folks for verbalizing how they feel.  I think it is healthy. It is no longer swept under the rug.

am i saying 40 acres and a mule.    No.  am i saying the govt needs to be responsiable, you betcha!

Did I enter some alternate universe where people are insane?  Let's imagine for a minute that being a mixed raced child with a white mom might actually be an additional stressor (because, let's face it, people are racist and mean).  And if she's white or not, has help from parents or not, she was still a single mother.  All this stuff just smacks of racism....... and frankly it's appalling.

edited to say:   and, in my opinion, there is nothing casual about this banter... it stinks
