They are actually making lovely bones into a movie now, they started doing some of the shooting around november locally. I think it comes out next year or the following. As for moi, Scott westerfeilds The Uglies saga, Stephanie Meyers Twilight Saga (Twilight comes out end of this year early next) Holly blacks Tithe, Rachel Caines Morganville Vampire series, Her Weather Warden series as well. The house of night novels by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. City of Bones and City of Ashes by Cassandra Claire. With all of the special effects they can do I really would love to see how they adapt most of the plot lines.

Banzai after SUM OF ALL FEARS shouldn't they leave Mr Clancy alone.By the way HBO's John Adam's has already aired episode 1 and 2 ,some stuff happened in bostona bunch of them got together in Philidelphia wrot some nasty letters to this guy George...well you know the rest

Has no one yet mentioned that making movies of most books is wildly misguided? Let me be first then... Different media have different strengths, I'd like to see more purely original movies with nothing coming before them in any other form. I make an exception in this for dramatic works as I believe something intended for the stage can be translated well to the screen. That's can be, it is by no means a sure thing. My favorite movie is "Prospero's Books" by Peter Greenaway. If you know it, you know it is a work of unsurpassed beauty and complexity that could never be translated to another media - it has to be film! That's why I like it so much. It contains within it Shakespeare's "The Tempest" while simultaneously redacting the highlights of visual art since the middle ages. It's also so much more than that with the conception of the many books, the great music by Michael Nyman and Ute Lemper, and the last great performance of John Gielgud. See it. It's what film could be... ...a moving masterpiece.

Any of the Drow series by R.A. Salvatore, I love all of those books. I also love the character Anita Blake by Laurell Hamilton so any of her books would be great. ~Lashra

I wrote Stephen Hunter an e-mail when I found out Shooter (Based on Point of Impact) was being released. In our correspondance I asked him if he saw an advance copy of the film, and he told me no, because it was too painful to reduce a 1000 page book to 14 pages of dialogue. Needless to say, both of us were very disappointed by the script writer "jiggering" (Mr Hunter's word) the ending of the book to fit the movie. I really wonder how bad they're going to screw up "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card, they've been working on the script for a couple of years now.

The idea that great book's don't translate into great movies is a misconception(IMO) fed by big budget flops .Think of Gone With The Wind or the first two Godfather movies. The list of successes would be at least as long as a list of flops

Id love to see a remake of "IT" by Stephen King.... That book scared the kerrrrrrrrap out of me when I read it the first time, it got into my head the way no other book ever has, I rarely get scared reading books but IT gave me nightmares for months, apart from the Stand, which could also use a re-do over, neither movie "grabbed me" the way I wanted to be grabbed. With all the amazing CGI graphics now I would love to see Clive Barkers "Weaveworld" come to life. Also Brian Lumleys "Necroscope" series altho that would have to be a whole series on its own. so not a movie, heh. Michael Slades books too would be ppretty good. Historical dramas, Horrors, Vampires, etc are my choice of reading watching, along with true crimes etc, not a romance/chick flick follower....gimme action/horror/fantasy any time. Lucy who needs new reading material

GAH!! I usually read Stephen King in one sitting.. 'IT'...nuh-uh, noway.....that book hit almost ALL of my childhood fears. As much as I adore Tim Curry... COULD NOT watch the movie.. newp, aint gonna do it. Weaveworld, certainly.. and Discworld too! (yes, I know they did one, but it was mediocre at best....) ETA: and while we're at it, let's add Neil Gaimons Otherworld books to the list

Tim Curry YUM his voice is enough to send shivers to all the good spots, so I liked him as pennywise, but the rest of the movie was just blehhhhh, the book had just set me up for something a lot better, well in my mind anyway. Never read the "Otherworld" books, may take a peeek:) Lucy

They'd never do justice to the Necroscope series, which I enjoyed reading very much. My choice would be Anne Rice's "Beauty" Trillogy, but not as a movie. Make each chapter part of a miniseries. But that would cost too much, so it won't be done. I wouldn't mind seeing Robert A. Heinlein's "Friday" done. If done properly and not mangled.
