With all the comics made into movies, I'd like to see them try to do ZAP comix, and Wonder Warthog too!

Maybe Crumb could play Mr Natural? [:D]

I would like to see the often-mentioned Watchmen, Neil Gaiman's Season of Mists, Love and Rockets, and Garth Ennis' Preacher all hit the big-screen.

...can't believe no-one has mentioned Terry Pratchett yet......oh, and i'd love to see the graphic novel 'Watchmen' done well, but that's unlikely.

The Khavren Romances By Stephen Brust (Who happens to be one of us by the way, he also taught me how to play hold'em so He holds a special place in my heart)

The Pheonix Guard
500 Years After
The Viscount of Adhrilanka
-Which is made up of three books
     *The Paths of the Dead
     * The Count of Castle Black
     * Sethra Lavode

These Books together is one of the only times in my life that as I read them I really felt I was there and knew the characters and understood why they did what they did. They were like onld friends as I read these books.

The first One. The Pheonix Guard would make an AWESOME Movie as long as it were cast correctly and if the writing was transfered from the Book to the Script it is really hard to screw it up.

Stephen is a close frinend and I would like to see him recognized for his truely amazing skill.

Also

To Reign in Hell about the Revolt in Heaven (Serious Fiction not a Preachy Religious book it was actually Banned in many Catholic Communities) Would make one of the best Angel Movies since The Prophecy. If you have never heard of it and most havent I would say it is time to him The Book Store or Amazon.com cause it is more than worth the cover price.

As Always

Steel

My ex mother in law used to read a series of books called the Wheel of Time. She was like a fanatic...I recently read some of them...and I think they would be okay...not great unless done right but okay....

Id like to see The Laruell Hamilton Fairey series done up. It seemed to be intresting.

The Swan Song By Robert McCammon...(sp) and he did a short story called something passed by that would make a hell of a movie.

I_would_love_to_see_McCammon's_Boy's_Life.

I'd like to see any of Carl Hiaassens books done... (and I'm sure I've totally mangled the spelling of his last name)

Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind  would be especially interested in seeing the scenes of everytime he had to endure the tortures of the Mord Siths  ( beautiful relentless, emotionless, powerful sadistic women)!   oh yeah.... made me wish i was Richard.

I'd love to see a well thought out adaptation of The Time Traveller's Wife. This was one of the best books I've read for years. I know they're currently developing it but I fear they will screw it up.

I'd also love to see World War Z by Max Brooks done with some imagination and intelligence. Not the most obvious of adaptable books, being as it's written as a series of accounts of the ten year zombie war and epidemic, but I have an idea of how a great screenplay could be fashioned from it.

Also, Blood Crazy by Simon Clark - a great book that done right would make a good movie.

I'd also like to see a faithful adaptation of The War Of The Worlds.

I was thinking about this thread this afternoon (a boring Sunday, to say the least) and I started just kind of skimming over my library. This sort of thing takes a while, since I actually have more books on the subjects that I'm interested in, than does the Denver Public Library... Anyway, I was thinking about science fiction novels that I would have loved to have seen a movie made of, and I remembered one that REALLY, truely would make one huge frickin' blockbuster, if it were ever done right...

Phillip Wylie's, "The Disappearance"

It's got a very simple premise: "on Thursday afternoon, at approximately 2:51 EST, the female of the species disappeared from the face of the Earth..."

All the women disappear from the world of men.
All the men disappear from the world of women.
No one knows how...
No one knows why...

And the rest of the story is how well the two genders survive, (or not) in the bizare apocolypse...

Geroge Pal was planning on making it at one time, but  unfortunately, the studio couldn't handle the sexual themes.

Although I am positive they would screw it up, I would love to see The Witching Hour by Anne Rice done.

It would be great if they could make a deent Harry Potter movie, too

If you liked the Talisman, read "Black House"...it's the sequel.....great read....couldn't put it down, and it had 659 pages!!!!  I remember reading the Talisman while in Germany with the Army, I wasn't impressed, but it could be because I never had the time to get into it.

Maybe if Spielberg or Lucas took on a King book as a movie, it might actually be worth something....I think "Cell" would be a decent one to try.  That or Lisey's Story......

That's funny you say that, soul2share, as I absolutely loved the Talisman, and have read it several times, but was disappointed by Black House. I suspect it's because I haven't ever been able to get into the Dark Tower stuff, some of which makes an apearance in Black House.

I'd like to see a movie made of the Talisman, but after so many false starts, including the only one thus far involving George A Romero that I think would have worked, I'm not holding my breath,

Geex, I'm not the only person who has read this book? I think there's too much for a film, though ... better HBO miniseries.

Mercnbeth -> RE: What books would you like to see as a movie? (3/29/2008 7:30:30 AM)

'The Long Walk' written by 'Richard Bachman'. Known better under another nom-de-plume.

I am captivated by a book written about a suicidal walking contest, and must have read it 100 times. I'm impressed as much at the ability of the writer to keep it interesting over so many pages as I was regarding the story line. However if it gets the same treatment as another book in the 'Bachman Book' series, 'The Running Man'; it would be better if never made.

They did Strip Tease a few years ago... they traded most of the absurdist humor for T&A. Didn't do it justice at all.

i'd love to see Tim Burton do Alice in Wonderland. Live action or Claymation/CGI, i'd watch either way.
i'd like to see China Mieville's The Scar or Perdido Street Station done on the big screen, but the special effects budget would be unreal.
i'm still in favor of an Anita Blake movie, or preferably, a miniseries on Cinemax or HBO. i nominate Jessica Alba as Anita [:)]
