As most of you know, I spend quite a bit of time in and out of hospitals. The problem that keeps arising is that I have such small and "roving" veins that it is extremely hard to get an IV drip going with me. I usually return home with mass bruises on my arms. Huge one that look like large fingerprints. Some that are on my stomach as well. Nasty.
I returned to school this past week and the first questions I got asked was "Are you OK? Are you being abused?" I assure the other students and teachers that this is not the case, in fact quite honestly, the opposite. I live in Phoenix, I am not comfortable wearing long sleeves in 89 degrees weather. This last hospital visit, left my neck with what looked like fingerprints around it. Any suggestions as to what to do to avoid the questions that most are obviously going to ask? I have bit my tongue a couple times..because I don't want to hurt their feelings. Any one who knows me, knows that I am just not the kind who generally cares what other's think  about me or what I do, but these are people I go to school with and it happens everytime I come home.

I know that most of y'all would not have this problem, as We are not generally the ones being bruised <s> But maybe suggestions from subs/switches would be helpful :)

Thank you for the well wishes by the way. The prayers helped :)

MoGa

Welcome back Ma`am.... Would it be an idea to explain the problem with bruising before you visit hospital. This way those concerned would know in advance ?

A little honesty goes a long way.  *hugs*  I know that it can be frustrating to have to explain it over and over; but if you tell them that the bruises are the of a medical procedure; you can still decide how much further to go from there.  You can even say that you don't care to talk about it.  In the end it's your business and not any others, their concern does not obligate you in any way.  Best wishes, by the way.

Thank you politesub :)
The thing is, that most times I am not aware or I am unconscience when I enter the emergency room. Even if I am aware, the last thing on anyone's mind is to keep my delicate skin from bruising. This last ER used a 22 butterfly to get the morphine in and then once the pain has subsided, they took their time getting the bigger needle in for the IV. Wouldn't have made a difference.

I just wonder how many subs/slaves/painsluts ect..actually try to hide the marks? I am getting a taste of the "other" side and it is not as much fun <s>

There is no easy answer. People see such marks and bruising and will jump to the conclusion that you've been abused.
And by denying it you just make them that much more sure of it since those abused tend to try to convince others that they are not being abused.

Your best bet, find information about your condition, it's out there. Find it's medical term and such and discuss it with your fellow teachers, and students. That's about the best you can do.

Greetings Ma'am,
I have heard there is something called Arnica gel that will help to reduce bruising. I have roving veins myself. Fresh out of hospital here as well and looking like an abuse victim too.

I usually try to say something before they ask. usually I lie and say I'm clumsy. Some of my bruises are from being clumsy. Others inflicted by my dom.

<Gentle hug> I will try that. I've not heard of it. I have felt saddened lately, because I want so much to be the one to cause the bruising <s> <Looks for her pup> Ahh....heaven!

Yes... never, ever say that you fell into a door or down the steps; even if it's true.

Maybe you should have a port installed?  We have the crappy veins syndrome too, so I feel your pain!

lol that is so funny! Not because it could be true and not to make light of those who are being abused, but because my pup used running into a door as an excuse, and it was true! lol Of course, he didn't add that I was chasing him at the time <g> Such a sissy girl :)

A port is one of those gadgets that they install surgically so there is constant access to a vein.  My dad had one for his chemo, and they do variations of them for folks on dialysis, for little kids, and anyone who is going to get repeatedly stabbed intravenously.

I can help! You will need 2 make up brushes, 1 big fluffy brush, red lip pigment(between a gloss and a stick)cool concealer, warm concealer, transluscent powder.Apply 3 coats of pigment, letting each dry in between applications. Apply cool concealer with brush. Apply warm concealer with another brush. Apply transluscent powder to bruise and surrounding skin and you're set.
