I have a different theory... but it's probably wrong. You keep saying you never have a period... maybe it's time to have one?! I think if your hormones shift just a little it can cause a minor amount of lining to form. I'm willing to bet if you kick the DP to the curb (as others have said, I've heard nothing but bad things about this!) and have yourself a real period once it's gone, you might be able to reset things. I went through all this when I went on the seasonale (the one where you only get 4 periods a year). In the beginning, rather than no period for three months, it was "not exactly bleeding, but totally gross and wrong" period for three months. My body adjusted just fine in the long run, but I think it was a little bit of my body still trying to have a period. Now, when I even miss a pill by as little as 4-5 hours from my normal time to take it I can detect a slight change in the way I taste that reminds me of that first three months.

I talked to a friend about this who was on DP, and she was like "Oh god, that's been me for 6 months, I'm so embarassed I refuse to let anyone near me sexually and I've been to the Dr twice!" So yeah, a friend of mine had the same thing.

Anyway, I know you can't get rid of DP anytime soon, but when you can, maybe try a period? I know we're supposed to hate em, but they do serve a purpose.

And I'm very sorry to any men that might have had the misfortune to stumble upon this entire thread. Really. If you kept on reading after seeing the title, it's your own damn fault.

my philosophy is:
Exercise, plenty of water, fruits, no asparagus or brussle sprouts, and I take a supplement that has acidophilus and a pribiotic complex in it. It has 4 billion of the good buggies compared to yogurt.

Probiotics -- the pill form has an advantage over yogurt in that it has a lot more probiotics, does not require refrigeration, 0 calories, and cheaper. A 30 day supply can be as low as $14.99. Comparable pricing for yogurt depends on your geographical location and store. It's about $3.85 for four days' worth of yogurt. The pills are easily cheaper. And some yogurts do not have acidophilus.

Clean hands with well scrubbed fingernails are the only ones I let pleasure me. I spent some time hunting out medical articles on the web thanks to the OP bringing up this subject. Some of it was trez Ick! Fingernails that are not scrubbed and dirty hands are really scary when you look them up on the web.

I also read some Aristotle and Plato while I was hunting around, so I got way off track, however it was some fun reading.

Good hygeine is mucho importante.

I am way glad that I never went on DP! I am stoked to the gills on antidepressants, and wasn't willing to risk it. I am on the pill to control my endometriosis, and so far it's working okay...

Does anyone have a less gassy solution than juice and fruit? I adore pineapple juice, but only when I am alone! <G> Yeah that was TMI, but HEY! Isn't that why we're here?

Everyone has a smell and a flavor, and there are times when I get out of the shower and want to get right back in again. Even if we are on hormonal adjustments, our hormone levels still shift around. If it's worth it to you, you might want to monitor what you eat and see if your scent changes. Enjoy the watermelon season! I am looking forward to nectarines!

I can't be on DP but I'll reiterate what people say about diet and hygeine. Re: your "rinsing" issue, try a wash cloth, filled with water. :)

For those who shared what you did about Mirena, thank you. My doc recommended it when I asked about tubal ligation, and I've been considering it. Your information has been helpful.

When i'm not fresh, i use a water & white vinegar mixed douche. White vinegar will get cat urine smell out of fabric... if it can do that, it can do anything ;)

I never really have understood the loathing of one's period. It makes as much sense to me as hating my left ankle. There have been times I've been mighty grateful it showed up (crisis averted!!).

I tried the Depot shot before I had my hystrectomy. It made things worse, and as with anything, their are side effects especially weight gain, emotional ups and downs, etc , and etc.
I bet you have a yeast infection. Some women are prone to yeast infections. They definitely give off an oder. Another thing I had to do was witch from nylon undies to cotton. Then I also had to sleep without undies after my hysterectomy according to my doc because she said I need air to clear up that infection. Then time to time, I will use a plain ole cream.
If you are expericng heavy bleeding such as I had, then that can cause oder as well. It has to be a simple infection of some kind.

I had an IUD... it went wonky and started gouging my insides, lots and lots of blood. Sex was impossible - he said it was stabbing him and I could feel it poking me at the other end. Then I started having contractions trying to reject it... horrible mess.

My shot I don't have a problem with - no periods, no cramps, no bloating. Little poke in the buttock every 12 weeks. I don't gain weight but it makes it impossible for me to lose any. And that's about it.

Your ankle probably does not cause as much discomfort pain and sometimes outright sickness that a period can.

Nope, no yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis or anything nasty going on. My pussy got the 100 percent all clear from my gyno. However he still thinks it stinks to be quite frank. However I am taking the stance it's his problem not mine since I am clean and have prooved it many times as I have gone to the gyno like 4 times for him since he thought it could be an infection of some sort, and each time it's 100 percent all clear.

So yup his problem not mine lol..

I once read a book titled "Your baby's Sex ~ Now you can choose!" That was written in the 1970's I think, but was re released again in the 90's I think, that taught me many interesting things. After having several daughters, I was trying to find a way to have a son.

Anyways, the book tells you that throughout a womans regular monthly cycle, the womans secretions have increasing amounts of sugar. The closer to ovulation ( egg being released ) the sugar increases. Day of ovulation, is when the sugar is at its highest,and then begins to fall back down to no levels of sugar.

And so, learning this, i began my own experimentations to see if i could note the difference, and i could!

Tasting my own juices, I learned that the week and half prior to ovulation, my flavor would get sweeter and sweeter, till it reminded me a bit like a very mildly flavored candy.. for me..a light smarties candy flavor. and then after ovulation, that flavor slowly decreases in strength, until several days before my monthly period, i change from cady sweetness, to a more wood burning smoky flavor. The same is true for scent.. sweet and sugary to smoky.

I dont know how a womans body continues through that cycle while on depo, so no clue there.

Anyways, personally, i have always enjoyed my scents and flavors, all while doing what most women and doctors say not to do. I take sit down baths, and use anti bacterial soap inside as well as outside my vagina. I am 37 years old, and have done so, since first having sex, and have never experienced any of the things they warn you about. I don't use bubble bath.. I dont use douche, I dont use any of the sprays or creams, but I do make sure I clean myself inside as well as outside, and then make sure i rinse VERY well.

Having intercourse, with his cum mixing with my own natural scents, is something I cant stand smelling, so thats why I make sure that his gets cleaned out of me. Washing with soap, very carefully to make sure none of the soap gets inside, before you use the hand shower to rinse off, is NOT removing any of his deposites. I don't care what any ole Doctor says, the vaginas natural cleaning abilities is NOT going to get men cum completely cleaned from the inside of the vagina. PART of what a doctor calls a viginas natural ability to "clean" itself is having a period. Doesnt sound all that "clean" but it is part of the process, and since you dont have a period anymore, then THAT part of the cleaning process is no longer happening.

So, you need to find others ways of cleaning the inside out. I am thinking that back when you and he first met, and he talked about how good you smelled, it was that he was playing with a vagina that didnt have any lingering traces of his cum sitting around and festering in there. Now that there is, then of course its not gonna smell like it did before.
And soooooooo.. i say this... ask your gyno for any suggestions on how to "safely" rinse/ clean out the inside of your vagina, after having sex. If you are unwilling to try soap, in a tub full of water, like i do, then perhaps the gyno can tell you how safe it might be to perhaps douche with clean and sterlized (boiled and cooled) plain water.

It's before sex while I am aroused he don't like my smell. That's why I say it's his problem what not mine. Because I can't do anything to change the way my arousal smells. I mean sure I can bathe before sex and make sure I'm not all sweaty and stuff down there, and it helps, with keeping other smells poluting the arousal smell.

I agree though that pussy after sex tends to stink a lot lol. at least to me, and if that was the problem better cleaning techniques would clear that up.

I don't recall having any change in scent from Depo, but it screwed up my cycles and hormones for more than two years after I was off it. I also gained about 50 pounds while I was on it and it was generally a thickening around my waist as one experiences during menopause. (I was around 22 at the time) For some, I guess it works well, but generally, I think it is evil. I bled randomly most of the time I was on it and then did not have my period at all for two years after being on it. When it finally did start again, it didn't stop. I had my period constantly for 2 months and the doctors basically just said, that can happen. They put me on pills just to regulate my cycles again. Also, if you have a history of depression, Depo can cause a mental break and increase depression, and suicidal episodes. I learned that from a subsequent doctor who basically wanted to know what crazy quack had insisted depo would be good for me, knowing my history. So basically, be careful with that form of birth control.

For the scent issue, I wonder if you have noticed any change or if it is just your master? I know that I change scent throughout my cycle as hormones vary, but none of my partners find it unpleasant. I would agree with the recommendation for more fruit and less fat, just to see if that makes a difference.

The 8-10 glasses a day is based on "average" height and weight. I usually weigh 230-250 and I need 12-14 oz. glasses of water a day (and way more now, since I'm nursing). 1. For everyone: Please, for the love of all that's holy, do NOT douche!!! Douching jacks up the pH levels of the vagina and can create all kinds of havoc (infections, dryness, etc). And if you do the research, most experts will say not to even douche with water. There is a big difference in the amount of water that get's inside your vagina from, say, taking a bath, versus filling a douche bottle with it and squirting it inside yourself.

2. Taste yourself. Do YOU think you taste foul or musky? If your pussy smells like your pussy, I'm guessing it's his own personal tastes and has nothing whatsoever to do with you. If I am to be REALLY honest, there's days I think that's bitter, or that I don't like the smell even after a bath, but since I go an get checked all the time for yeast infections and other things that'll make a pussy nasty any time there's the slightest supision on my part that there could be something funky going on, so I know that even though I'm not happy with my scent there's nothing wrong with it that needs a doctor.

What she said.. wieght gain wow... emotions up down... not sure how it affected my discharge, my ex said I smelled horrible anyway, my current says I taste and smell lovely. But am now not on the depo, and am eating a different diet.... less red meat, less meat in general, and no cow dairy products as it was making me ill. So now a lifestyle change maybe has helped. Buy my new lover was on the scene before the diet change kicked in, so I think it was an excuse on my ex, who stank of booze and fags, and erm cheese.... on his manhood, yeah... well.
