i would say the true nature of submission is following someone you look to as a leader or devoting yourself to something you see as important.

in such a way being submissive has no isolation to bdsm and people of all relationships often follow such a format even when treated as equals, and how even the most powerful of leaders and warriors serve their country.

nicely nicely said !!!  BRAVO !!

Well, Peppermint , you say you have spent months researching an answer to questions much the same as I have asked, therefore you must also have felt the need to search, as I am doing by asking the questions here

But, I feel Padraig might well be correct in what he has written, I should be looking into psychology, not asking the kinky community.

Perhaps I should explain why I asked this question, well, that has to do with the fact that a dominant has  got me into a situation where I feel the need to submit to him, something which has I admit taken me by surprise.

Aneirin, can you talk about why you're feeling this need?

IF we know the answer...then what?

THEN, we usually have more questions.  And, answering those questions usually leads to more questions and, so on.  And, hopefully, in the midst of all the questioning and answering, we are still able to Just Live.  Accept that we are who we are and, Just Be.  Then again, i guess some people are destined to be great thinkers who think deep thoughts.  Bless their souls.

And, to Padriag:

Who cleans up all the pigeon droppings?

Since there are millions of pigeons already in the world, with each one producing about 12 kilos (32 lb) of excrement yearly, that's not a new concern.  Within urban areas, city governments are responsible for cleaning up the mess.  Private pigeon keepers make their own arrangements for pigeon poo clean-up (which makes a very good fertilizer, btw).  And, with the average flying speed of a homing pigeon at around 30 miles per hour, they would be faster than the "high-speed internet" that i'm using.

With apologies for the slight hijack,

Again, having squads of submissives, carrying buckets on their heads, should help with the droppings.

If it makes any sense to you, to hopefully find out my true nature. All my life I have been  a leader, and in dominant positions, hell, even dominant in the bedroom, basically what everyone expected of me, but I was never happy with it, I felt something was wrong, something was missing,  I had a need I could not describe.

This person who for want of a better word, 'exposed' me, released something, which I now seem to crave. As a result of this release, I am more relaxed and seem to be having odd desires, skills I would like to learn, like dancing for example of the oriental kind.

Hey, I don't dance, never learned to, perhaps not relaxed enough, either that or too self conscious, weird !

It makes perfect sense.

The soul needs to see the light of day, to be known. IMO, this means finding our true selves, becoming okay with that, and hopefully, finding others to share it with.

A number of your recent posts have caused me to think, "there's a man doing some searching". I believe you're on the right track.

I don't know if this will help you Aneirin but I'll relate this and you can decide if it strikes any similar chords.

I once knew a woman whom most people considered to be very dominant.  She ran a successful investment firm which she'd started and built up herself.  She was outgoing, adventerous, very focused.  One of those people who seemed to know exactly what they wanted from life and went after it without hesitation.  Little did her friends know that behind closed doors she was very submissive and wanted to be owned as a slave.  I got to know her quite well, well enough to learn something of what motivated her in life.  Her father was extremely important to her, and he had always had high expectations of her.  Everything she'd done, the investment firm, the college degrees, had all been her trying to please her father, not herself.  She'd built her entire existence around trying to make someone else happy... and she still felt something was missing.  In serving a dominant, she found that missing piece.

I don't know you or your background, but you might consider the above as food for thought.

Well, it has it's similarities, and added  to that I have always felt better with myself when I am helping or doing things for others, including as I have found recently, teaching, I ignore my own work and make sure everyone else is ok.

Hmmm, perhaps it is that the writing is in fact clearly written on the wall, it is just that I am having difficulty reading it.
